Hi there. In case you didn't know, when you add content to talk pages and Wikipedia pages that have open discussion, you should sign your posts by typing four tildes ( ~~~~ ) at the end of your comment. If you can't type the tilde character, you should click on the signature button located above the edit window. This will automatically insert a signature with your name and the time you posted the comment. This information is useful because other editors will be able to tell who said what, and when. Thank you! --SineBot (talk) 21:07, 24 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not use talk pages such as Talk:Mel Gibson for general discussion of the topic. They are for discussion related to improving the article. They are not to be used as a forum or chat room. If you have specific questions about certain topics, consider visiting our reference desk and asking them there instead of on article talk pages. See here for more information. Thank you. Hi!

[edit]

Hi there! We've chatted on Talk:Main Page and I've been following a conversation on Talk:England#No mention of the traditional borders!, so I thought I'd drop by and say hello. I noticed on your userpage that you said you'd tried signatures and given up on them! If you want any help with them, give me a shout - I'm reasonably familiar with them (I've changed mine a few times now). For that matter, give me a shout if you need help with anything.

Yes, that's right - the "standard" signature (your username) will be replaced with a custom signature you specify at "my preferences". Your custom signature needs to be made up from Wiki-markup; my advice would be to find someone else's signature that you think looks roughly like the one you'd like, then "edit" the section of the page where the signature is. Don't actually change anything, just copy their signature onto your talk page or sandbox, and then play around with the signature until it looks the way you want it. Finally copy it into the "signature" box at your "my preferences" page, and make sure that the "Raw signature" box is ticked. Once you've done that, you can test it by going to your talk page or sandbox and "test signing" - I'd suggest that you preview instead of saving since you probably don't want to keep your tests! If you're happy with the signature - great! If you're not, then you can either keep playing with it until it looks perfect, or - if everything goes horribly wrong! - you can go back to "my preferences" and un-tick the "Raw signature" box. Give me a shout if you run into any problems!
Oh, if you copy someone's signature it might be worth dropping them a note on their talk page just to make sure they don't object. Unless you're copying them exactly I doubt they would, but you never know!
Cheers, and good luck with your new signature! This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 12:18, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Thank you very much for the barnstar! I've added it to my collection! Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 13:57, 16 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

RfA canvassing ;-)

[edit]

Hi!

Given your good-natured and humourous posts on Talk:Main Page, I thought you might be interested in participating in this request for adminship...? Even if not, you'd probably enjoy reading it! I !voted to oppose, but there's nothing to stop you supporting, remaining neutral, or even !voting several times ;-) You might even fancy asking - or even answering - questions to the "candidate"!

Cheers, This flag once was redpropagandadeeds 15:03, 9 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, belated reply! You were too kind! I've only ever !voted support in RfAs (I tend to only get when involved when it's an editor I've worked with and respect), so I thought it was a golden opportunity to play the nasty card! (Actually, I enjoyed it so much I went back and !voted again...)
Slightly more seriously, I thought it was quite a good satire of the whole process, and a good way to get some insight into the process. That's enough seriousness for now, though!

Gone!!! But I've preserved it under the nudey ladies so everything is fine, the world is still working! --candlewicke 11:30, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think they've put them in an archive. I haven't checked though but I think they were treated with more respect than the nudey ladies were... all three whisked away so cruelly as they were. --candlewicke 17:46, 11 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Articles?

[edit]

Under this account, you've never actually contributed to an article- but you have contributed many times to talk pages, often with inane comments or jokes. I don't mean to be boring, but we are here to build an encyclopedia- perhaps you'd be more at home joining a general interest forum? I've seen you plenty of times at Talk:Main Page and, well, you've rarely said anything that has contributed usefully to a discussion. If you are interesting in improving the encyclopedia, perhaps you'd like to consider working on some articles? J Milburn (talk) 13:15, 17 August 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Liverpool F.C. wiki

[edit]

Hello, I am the lead sysop on the Liverpool F.C. wiki. It is a wiki dedicated solely to Liverpool F.C.. We aim to make the ultimate database for the club we all love. Since adopting the incredibly inactive wiki about a month ago we have greatly increased the article count and modernized it from it's previous state. The problem is there are not many active members on the site and we need more for the site to properly grow. It is well organized and on it's way to be a great site we just need more editors to expand. It is based on Wikia's network of wikis. Like Wikipedia it is free to use and the editing process is exactly the same. If you know how to edit Wikipedia you will know how to edit the Liverpool F.C. wiki. Now for the question you may be asking yourself. Why edit there? Wikipedia has articles on Liverpool. This is true. At the Liverpool wiki it is all about Liverpool. We allow editors to edit anything about Liverpool no matter how trivial. We allow edits on reserve and academy players, and even things as trivial as the fitness coaches for the year 2011. We also do not lock pages to registered users. That means if you have something to say about Steven Gerrard you can click edit and not view source and actually write something. I would love for you to come by and check the wiki out. Feel free to edit any page. Every time you click edit your ARE helping this wiki grow. Thanks for taking the time to read this! http://liverpoolfc.wikia.com/wiki/Liverpool_FC_Wiki --Coffeeclub213 (talk) 00:38, 8 July 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Merge discussion for Opium Wars

[edit]

Hi. There has been a reopened discussion ongoing at Talk:First Opium War#Merge discussion to merge the contents of Opium Wars into First Opium War and Second Opium War. A consensus seems to have been reached among all the users who contributed to the lede/Opium Wars#Overview section, and merging may be imminent. You have been identified as a major contributor of the article about to be abolished (see: User:Kiyoweap/Opium Wars) and thus are welcomed to participate in the merge, especially in the sections which you have contributed. Or, any other input under the Merge discussion thread given above would be appreciated. Thanks. --Kiyoweap (talk) 04:55, 18 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]
