License tagging for Image:Erdal-Keser.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Erdal-Keser.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.

For more information on using images, see the following pages:

Images issues

[edit]

Hi, Willie200. For bio articles on living people like Erdal Keser, we should only use free images. If no free image can be found, we should use no image until some is produces (unless it's impossible to produce one, if e.g. the person is under arrest or hidden). You may want to read Wikipedia's policy on unfree material, that says, among other things, that we can only use unfree material in cases where free alternative can be produced (which is not the case for living people photographies).

Also, almost all images found on the internet are copyrighted and non-free. So, do not tag them as {{GFDL}} as you did with Image:Erdal.jpg.

And always remember to add source and licensing information to all images you upload. Images like Image:Terim.jpg are likely to get deleted very soon. If you don't know the source, avoid using the image at all.

Let me know if you have any questions. Best regards, --Abu Badali 23:20, 21 November 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Unreferenced BLPs

[edit]

Hello Willie200! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 698 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:

  1. Güvenç Kurtar - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
  2. Müfit Erkasap - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs· FENS · JSTOR · TWL
