Personal Information Management (PIM) is a field in its own right. See, for example, http://pim.ischool.washington.edu/. Or see the January issue of Communications of the ACM. Personal information managers are simply a particular kind of tool meant to help with PIM. They often fail to do so. I am writing a book on PIM and editing another. I don't have much time. Please let this edit stand. Please take away the re-direct for "Personal Information Management".
