Thank you for all that, but all I want to do at present is to correct the caption under the picture of William and Caroline Herschel polishing the telescope part, which currently reads "William and Caroline William Herschel polishing ...", where the second "William" is clearly redundant. As this picture and the caption don't form part of the text of the article, absurdly, there seems no physical way of making a simple correction of this sort. It would be nice to think that some Wikipedia guru may read this comment, make the correction him- or herself (I don't feel proprietorial about it), and come back to me by way of feedback, but again, I don't know how that would or could happen.
