Will Dockery article
[edit]Hi Will
My welcome to you as well. I just thought I'd let you know that it's a principle here that we don't make articles about ourselves. I'm not going to suggest Will Dockery gets removed, since you seem to be deserving of an article (sorry about the tentativeness, but my knowledge of American Poetry is about zero). Anyway, I thought I would let you know. Have fun editing.

- In cases where the articles refer to me rather than another Will Dockery, such as articles on Minicomics, and so on, I've adjusted the article to show Will Dockery, which resolves the confusion. Will Dockery (talk) 11:19, 18 July 2010 (UTC)
- I have added my name to this list D section, and Demon House Theatre, which includes references, including the registration of this example Minicomics in the Library of Congress Copyright Office and the Who's Who of American Comic Books. [1]
From the Introduction of the Who's Who of American Comic Books 1928-1999: "The Who's Who of American Comic Books is a database designed to document the careers of people who have contributed to or supported the publication of original material in U.S. comic books in the years 1928-99. It is not a checklist, but rather a resume of a person's creative career. Each resume covers not only a person's comics career, but as much information as could be located about his/her other creative and professional work in advertising, prose, TV, animation, syndication, and other sister fields and professions. The scope of the Who's Who includes anyone known to have contributed directly to or supported the field of original U.S. comic books..."
In cases where the articles refer to me rather than another Will Dockery, such as articles on Minicomics, and so on, I've adjusted the article to show Will Dockery, which resolves the confusion.
Hello again, DJC!
[edit]Yes, I found Wikipedia just a couple of hours ago, and perhaps jumped in too fast..!
I'll spend some time getting to know the area better before I do /too/ much, although I hope to begin by writing a piece [already written, just need to copy and paste it and edit it] on Royston Ellis, an obscure English poet who knew the Beatles... and suggested they change their name from /Beetles/ to /Beatles/.
Probably later today or tonight....
Minicomics
[edit]Hi, Will. It's great that you want to add more depth to the Minicomic article, but may I suggest a different approach. A list like the one you're adding, since it could potentially be very long, probably belongs in a separate article - List of minicomics creators - with a "See also" link from the main article. See Wikipedia:Lists (stand-alone lists) and Wikipedia:Embedded list. Also, although it's really tempting to try to make Wikipedia the most authoritative guide to every single minicomic/zine artist, I don't think it's really possible or desirable. This stuff (especially postal addresses) changes so often, and there are so many people who just do one or two things, that it's like trying to put the phone book in WP. It'd be more appropriate to make the list just include "notable" artists - an incredibly vague guideline, but basically I'd include people who have produced a considerable body of work and/or been widely recognized by critics outside the zine scene, like Feazell or Porcellino: basically the same criteria you'd use to decide whether someone's ready for their own Wikipedia article, and the WP guidelines for lists (see above) state that list articles should really be lists of links to things that have their own articles. There should certainly also be external links to web resources that provide up-to-date listings, addresses, etc. - preferably ones that are not also distros/stores (since that's sort of like giving the WP seal of approval to one particular business), but that one site you added might be OK if it's not the only one. I hope I'm making sense... ←Hob July 4, 2005 00:12 (UTC)
- Thank you, Hob... it has taken me some time to return to and complete this project, but am wrapping it up now. In cases where the articles refer to me rather than another Will Dockery, such as articles on Minicomics, and so on, I've adjusted the article to show Will Dockery, which resolves the confusion. Will Dockery (talk) 10:42, 12 January 2015 (UTC)
To Hob
[edit]All good points, and at the very least I'll move the list to a seperate annex, and trim the list from obvious unknowns... which I could probably use feedback on, since my remembrance of small press comix are from the 1980s mostly. I would still like to keep some of the creators who are legendary in small press, but by the very nature of small press, are not known to the general public, such as Tim Corrigan, Steve Keeter, Ian Shires, et al.
- Sounds good - someone who's done a lot in their field is notable whether the general public (most of whom don't read any minicomics at all) knows about it or not; ultimately we should have articles on such guys, and it sounds like you have a lot to contribute.
- Also, another Wikipedia tip: when someone leaves you a talk page note, it's best to reply on their talk page (and sign it with ~~~~) - even though it makes it harder to follow the conversations at a glance, they're more likely to see the reply. ←Hob July 4, 2005 15:53 (UTC)
Hello, welcome to Wikipedia! Good to see your enthusiasm in using the resources of the Jewish Encyclopedia to help Wikipedia grow.
If the instructions on the project page did not state things clearly enough and instead puzzled or misled you, I send you my apologies. The pages named A-Z, ordered under the heading "Alphabetical listing", are intended to provide a directory of topics from the JE which are missing from Wikipedia. If you wish to integrate text from a JE entry into Wikipedia, either click on the red link on the list to start a new article (if Wikipedia lacks that topic), or merge the text into an appropriate, pre-existing Wikipedia article. JE text should be pasted onto proper articles in Wikipedia, not onto the pages allocated for the directory.
In your case, you are interested in adapting the JE articles on Baal and Golem for Wikipedia. Because Wikipedia already has entries on these topics, any additional information that you find on the JE should go into the existing Wikipedia articles entitled Baal and Golem. I have moved the work you did on the JE texts from the directory into an extension of your user page: User:Will_Dockery/Temp. You can edit and revise the texts there to your heart's content before inserting them into the actual articles.
The lists for the remaining letters of the alphabet will be posted soon. In the meantime, you are welcome to work on integrating the text from any JE article into wikipedia, even if the article hasn't appeared on the lists currently available.
Looking forward to your contributions. Happy editing!--Defrosted 4 July 2005 09:56 (UTC)
- P.S. Only the text of the 1901-6 edition of the Jewish Encyclopedia, available at http://www.jewishencyclopedia.com, has entered the public domain and can therefore be freely copied into Wikipedia. I have just noticed that you are basing your research on the 1962 Jewish Encyclopedia, which probably remains protected by copyright. Since you intend to acknowledge and rewrite the 1962 material into your own words, that should not pose any problems of copyright infringement.
As a member of WikiProject Comics, I thought you might be interested in the Comics Collaboration of the Fortnight we have set up. Please feel free to vote on the articles listed, although bear in mind that a vote for a particular article means you are pledging to help improve the article. The goal of the collaboration is to improve articles to Featured Article status, as we feel Comics is under-represented in that area. Thanks for your help. Image Tagging Image:Caravaggio1.jpg
[edit]This media may be deleted.
|
Thanks for uploading Image:Caravaggio1.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.
If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Shyam (T/C) 17:09, 3 March 2006 (UTC)
Parnello's Pizza
[edit]A tag has been placed on Parnello's Pizza, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done because the article appears to be about a person, group of people, band, club, company, or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is notable: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, articles that do not assert the subject's importance or significance may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that you can assert the notability of the subject, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hangon}}
to the top of the page (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the article's talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would confirm the subject's notability under Wikipedia guidelines.
For guidelines on specific types of articles, you may want to check out our criteria for biographies, for web sites, for bands, or for companies. Feel free to leave a note on my talk page if you have any questions about this. -- Steevo714 03:43, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

J. Edward Wilson deletion
[edit]A shame that the quite notable J. Edward Wilson's biography was deleted... having been a famous television and radio commentator, newpaper Thursday Newspaper publisher, as well as Special Assitant to two Columbus, Georgia mayors, it seems he made the notability grade and then some.
Another editor has added the "{{prod}}

All contributions are appreciated, but the editor doesn't believe it satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion, and has explained why in the article (see also Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not and Wikipedia:Notability). Removal of category from your userpage
[edit]Hi. In enacting consensus from User categories for discussion, I have removed the category Category:Wikipedians interested in books from your userpage. It was determined in that deletion debate that this category should be depopulated of individuals, but kept as a parent category. If you wish to display a category reflecting your interest in books, please consider one of the specific sub-categories under its umbrella. Thanks, and please excuse the necessary editing of your user page! ----Moonriddengirl (talk) 16:14, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Unreferenced BLPs
[edit]Hello Will Dockery! Thank you for your contributions. I am a bot alerting you that 3 of the articles that you created are tagged as Unreferenced Biographies of Living Persons. The biographies of living persons policy requires that all personal or potentially controversial information be sourced. In addition, to ensure verifiability, all biographies should be based on reliable sources. If you were to bring these articles up to standards, it would greatly help us with the current 305 article backlog. Once the articles are adequately referenced, please remove the {{unreferencedBLP}} tag. Here is the list:
- Seaborn Jones (Poet) - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL
- Arkadi Kuleshov - Find sources: Google (books · news · scholar · free images · WP refs) · FENS · JSTOR · TWL

Hi! It seems you recently created an unreferenced biography of a living person: Gino Santercole. The community has decided that all new biographies of living persons must contain a reliable source that supports at least one statement made about the person in the article as per our verifiability policy. Please add references as soon as possible. Thanks! --LaraBot (talk) 00:10, 27 April 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you, I will get on this right away!Will Dockery (talk) 21:08, 13 May 2011 (UTC)
The article Gino Santercole has been proposed for deletion because under Wikipedia policy, all biographies of living persons created after March 18, 2010, must have at least one source that directly supports material in the article.
If you created the article, please don't take offense. Instead, consider improving the article. For help on inserting references, see Wikipedia:Referencing for beginners or ask at Wikipedia:Help desk. Once you have provided at least one reliable source, you may remove the {{prod blp}} tag. Please do not remove the tag unless the article is sourced. If you cannot provide such a source within ten days, the article may be deleted, but you can request that it be undeleted when you are ready to add one. joe deckertalk to me 06:20, 8 May 2011 (UTC)
- Thanks, I have been working on the Gino Santercole article. This article is a translation from Italian Wikipedia, references have been added. The original article can be found at: Gino Santercole. Speedy deletion nomination of Dick Campbell (singer-songwriter)
[edit]If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.
You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.
A tag has been placed on Dick Campbell (singer-songwriter) requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.
If you think that this notice was placed here in error, contest the deletion by clicking on the button labelled "Click here to contest this speedy deletion," which appears inside of the speedy deletion ({{db-...}}
) tag (if no such tag exists, the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate). Doing so will take you to the talk page where you will find a pre-formatted place for you to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. You can also visit the the page's talk page directly to give your reasons, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. Inks.LWC (talk) 08:52, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Hello, I created this page on Dick Campbell with the intention of posting what I had and then shaping it for Wikipedia standards, as far as references and so on.
As far as notability, Dick Campbell is considered to be the ultimate "New Dylan" or follower on the folk-rock bandwagon, as this site explains: Top 10 Next Dylans. Seems to be an important piece of cultural history, maybe there's a sub-scetion in Wikipedia that already covers this that this could be added to, if not a stand-alone piece? Will Dockery (talk) 12:19, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Will
I just realised that, although you can't remove the Speedy deletion, because you created the article, I am allowed to - so I have. This may only buy a little time before someone tries the full 7 day AFD process, so we need to add a few references, and at least one in-line citation, ASAP.
As explained on Dick Campbell's talk page, for the next 2-3 days I am too busy, in real life, to spend time on this.
Arjayay (talk) 12:38, 27 June 2011 (UTC) - Thank you, Arjayay, hopefully some references and other proof of notability will be added to the Dick Campbell page by later today, looking into it now. Will Dockery (talk) 13:04, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
The article Dick Campbell (singer-songwriter) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
- The artist fails WP:SINGER and I have been unable to find any sources that are not self-published that discuss him.
While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.
Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Inks.LWC (talk) 21:17, 27 June 2011 (UTC)
- Thank you for the notification, hopefully we can develop the page to get it up to a level where it can remain undelted.Will Dockery (talk) 00:54, 28 June 2011 (UTC)

The argument "I have been unable to find any sources that are not self-published that discuss him" is pretty poorly researched. In less than a minute I found:-

As explained before I am too tied up to improve the article for 2-3 days but will post this on the article talk page.
Arjayay (talk) 07:48, 28 June 2011 (UTC)- Yes, in fact, I posted one reference from there on the article two days ago:

Nomination of Sara Dylan for deletion
[edit]Sorry, I missed you. Was sure I had posted a message on here. Again, sorry.
A discussion is taking place as to whether the article Sara Dylan is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia according to Wikipedia's policies and guidelines or whether it should be deleted.
The article will be discussed at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Sara Dylan until a consensus is reached, and anyone is welcome to contribute to the discussion. The nomination will explain the policies and guidelines which are of concern. The discussion focuses on high-quality evidence and our policies and guidelines.
Users may edit the article during the discussion, including to improve the article to address concerns raised in the discussion. However, do not remove the article-for-deletion notice from the top of the article.. Alatari (talk) 01:44, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- Sara Dylan#As subject of songs needs two additional independent sources supporting Sara's inportance as a muse and subject of Bob's songs. You were adding citation needed references (BTW, that is not the perferred method. Add the template {{cn|date=current month and year}} behind the sentence that needs a source) and if you know of some sources from your experience and reading that you can add it would close the deletion debate. Alatari (talk) 01:57, 15 March 2014 (UTC)
- Thanks for the heads-up... I have passed these comments and others to some Bob Dylan "scholars", so perhaps the citations and evidence can be provided. Will Dockery (talk) 01:57, 17 March 2014 (UTC)
