[edit]Hello, I'm Helpful Raccoon. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Humane education have been undone because they appeared to be promotional. Advertising and using Wikipedia as a "soapbox" are against Wikipedia policy and not permitted; Wikipedia articles should be written objectively, using independent sources, and from a neutral perspective. Take a look at the welcome page to learn more about Wikipedia. Thank you. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:01, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi Helpful raccoon how can the addition of a humane education charity who has been doing free humane education presentations be promotional ? can you help explain so I can correct? the humane education page is outdated Thank you Wikiwordsmith1 (talk) 21:50, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Your edit summary here makes it seem like you are trying to advertise this charity. Do you have a connection to Animal Hero Kids? Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:55, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Humane education. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include, but are not limited to, links to personal websites, links to websites with which you are affiliated (whether as a link in article text, or a citation in an article), and links that attract visitors to a website or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Because Wikipedia uses the nofollow attribute value, its external links are disregarded by most search engines. If you feel the link should be added to the page, please discuss it on the associated talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 21:48, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- I saw humane ed orgs had a link beside their name in references So a website should not go in external references showing a humane education entity? just the name of the humane education initiative ? Wikiwordsmith1 (talk) 21:53, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- I noticed this page is outdated and has an old photo from 2015 and no newer organizations whose mani mandate is to humane educate like, Animal Hero Kids and Teachkind and BE an Animal Hero This is the first time editing so improving a page I am interested in the subject which is really about helping animals including raccoons!
- I would like to update the photo or add photo but have no idea how to do that Wikiwordsmith1 (talk) 22:01, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Hi Wikiwordsmith1! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Humane education several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Humane education, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:12, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you disrupt Wikipedia, as you did at Humane education. You need to clarify what relationship if any you have to the organisation. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:17, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
Managing a conflict of interest
[edit]Hello, Wikiwordsmith1. We welcome your contributions, but if you have an external relationship with the people, places or things you have written about on the page Humane education, you may have a conflict of interest (COI). Editors with a conflict of interest may be unduly influenced by their connection to the topic. See the conflict of interest guideline and FAQ for article subjects for more information. We ask that you:
- avoid editing or creating articles about yourself, your family, friends, colleagues, company, organization, clients, or competitors;
- propose changes on the talk pages of affected articles (you can use the {{edit COI}} template)—don't forget to give details of reliable sources supporting your suggestions;
- disclose your conflict of interest when discussing affected articles (see Wikipedia:Conflict of interest § How to disclose a COI);
- avoid linking to your organization's website in other articles (see Wikipedia:Spam § External link spamming);
- do your best to comply with Wikipedia's content policies.
In addition, you are required by the Wikimedia Foundation's terms of use to disclose your employer, client, and affiliation with respect to any contribution which forms all or part of work for which you receive, or expect to receive, compensation. See Wikipedia:Paid-contribution disclosure.
Also, editing for the purpose of advertising, publicising, or promoting anyone or anything is not permitted. Thank you. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:05, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi, How do I add the names of two humane education orgs to update on the humane ed page? the fits time I was told do not put a website, though I see orgs having a website so I went back and added the two humane ed entities What do I do now? this is the first time onWiki editing I think I need help, as I do not see why not add humane education charities to humane ed? Wikiwordsmith1 (talk) 22:19, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- Hi. You need to answer the questions about whether you have a connection to Animal Hero Kids. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:21, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- It makes sense that you thought it was appropriate to add the link to an existing collection of links, but unfortunately the existing links were not appropriate for the article either. See WP:OTHERSPAM. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 05:34, 15 July 2024 (UTC)
- hi is there a helpful type group for first time editors? Wikiwordsmith1 (talk) 22:22, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- There are various ways to get help at WP:HELP. But you will need to answer the question about a Conflict of Interest before editing anything related to Animal Hero Kids again. AntiDionysius (talk) 22:24, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
- The Teahouse is a good place to ask questions. Helpful Raccoon (talk) 22:52, 14 July 2024 (UTC)
