RE:United Armenia vs Imperialism
[edit]Hello my perplexed wiki-friend. This will be brief as it does not require much explanation. Armenian territory is not being "extended" through imperialism. It is being given back to its rightful owners after the Turks imperially took the lands away from Armenia. Treaty of Sevres established the country to which Turkey signed yet had imperial ambitions by trying to link present day Turkey to Azerbaijan for Turan; something nearly achieved had it not been for the 30,000km2 left of today's Armenia. - Fedayee 15:40, 12 September 2007 (UTC)
- All those examples given have no relation to what i'm talking about and what i'm talking about is a legal document by the name of Treaty of Sèvres which was signed by Turkey, Armenia and all major powers of the time after Turkey lost WW1, after it sided with the Triple Alliance. BTW, Armenians do want to have relations without any preconditions with Turkey, it's the opposite that does not want relations. So all you said is pointless because it is the Turkish government stopping the relations from developping. Armenian government (the body representing Armenia, which is not the diaspora) has never laid claims to present Turkish borders.
- Anyway, I answered your initial question and we are heading into a spiral discussion and I think we are moving away from Wikipedia, e.g. turning this into a forum. Not the place. - Fedayee 01:13, 14 September 2007 (UTC)
Please do not remove content from Wikipedia unecessarily as it can be considered as vandalism. It is often better to use talk pages or the edit summary box to briefly explain edits, otherwise legitimate edits that seem to damage Wikipedia's content may be seen to be vandalism.

- Oh sorry, i thought removing Sealand and Chechnya wouldn't be so problematic, as these countries do not exist either de facto or de jure... Wikiturk (talk) 21:44, 6 March 2008 (UTC)
- By your definition, the edit is problematic. You cannot say that Chechnya should not be in the category, let alone the article. It's a flag of Europe - so it can be in the article. It's disputed/unrecognised, so it can be in the disputed/unrecognised state section. As for Sealand, it's not as simple as Chechnya - by law ("de jure") there is a possibility that Sealand can exist - but as far as Wikipedia and the micronation convention are concerened, Sealand could be placed in a micronations section. I'll create a micronation section on the page. ----- Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 19:37, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
- If this page was intended to put all the flags of Europe, I think those which are being displayed at the moment are not even half of the all flags of Europe. For example, you should have also added all the flags of Russian Republics in Europe and other ethnic minorities which all have a flag of their own. I mean, if the page is intended to have all the flags of de jure recognised countries plus unrecognised ones, then I believe Chechnya and Sealand have no place. There is no country called Chechnya, only the Chechen autonomous republic in Russia... You cannot put it in the same category with TRNC, as there is a country called TRNC which has full sovereignty in its territory. As far as I know, Russia is in full control of the territory known as Chechnya. I hope you understood my concern. I did not intend to cause vandalism in the page, and I thought Wikipedia was a free encyclopedia which you can edit the articles any time, within the limit of logic and basic established facts of course. Wikiturk (talk) 21:39, 7 March 2008 (UTC)
Your last sentence is definitely correct, I knew when you replied that you don't intend to vandalise Wikipedia - the edit seemed to be vandalism when I first saw it, pages on countries (even unrecognised ones) often get vandalised because people have different political opinions. Your also right about the page not containing all the flags of Europe - I think that as the page becomes larger the article will eventually be separated into many articles, we just have to wait until many more flags are added. The TRNC and Chechnya are in different situations - the government of Chechyna is currently in exile. Maybe we should place Chechnya in a "governments in exile" section? ----- Onecanadasquarebishopsgate 16:09, 8 March 2008 (UTC)
