Images without summaries

[edit]

Hi Wikipedian c. Thanks for uploading Image:Kid w fish.jpg and Image:Sweets.jpg. Please add a proper image summary detailing the images' source and licensing, or the images may be deleted. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and Wikipedia:Image use policy for more information. Thanks and happy editing! --Jtalledo (talk) 00:51, 13 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleaning up Pages

[edit]

Hello Wikipedian c, I use the cleanup tag to designate articles that need a lot of work either with their content or formatting to make it easy for wikipedia users to find information from. In the case of your article Pekiti Tirsia Kali, as I said in its discussion page, it lacked a clear definition of the subject and needed to be rewritten to better convey the subject to the reader (I could not tell it was a martial arts technique until after a google search). As you said, wikipedia pages are open to everyone to edit, so please don't so defensive about pages you create, because you don't own the page. Rather try and take the suggestions that other people offer and improve your work with it. Fallsend 17:50, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Benjie Paras article

[edit]

Hi Wikipedian c, I reverted your edits in the Benjie Paras article. The information regarding his acting career should be included and it should be mentioned first before his basketball career because he is no longer a basketball player and currently an actor. You can rephrase it but please don't remove it. Thanks and Happy Wiki-ing! --Jojit fb 11:08, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Kali

[edit]

Your contrib to my talk page was pure vandalism so you do not really deserve a reply. But I will give you one. If you had created your kali (knife) article with a sensible title, I would not have needed to touch it. You should have realised by now: a) we use the singular not the plural and b) we do not put ""'s round titles.

Please explain how you came to put ""'s round "kalis"? This is a genuine question - I see quotes so often, I begin to suspect there is a bit of bad design in the MediaWiki software. -- RHaworth 14:13, 10 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

  • Yes but you shouldve notified me first before removing it since i wrote the article!!

Please learn to: put your comments in the right place, indicate what they refer to (as on my talk page - here your comment is all right in that respect) and sign your comments.

Please note that I did not remove your article, I merely edited it. I am under no obligation to advise anybody before editing any article - that is the whole point of Wikipedia. -- RHaworth 03:26, 12 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Pekiti Tirsia

[edit]

I admit I know nothing about Filipino martial arts, but I do know something about Wikipedia and what we have here is a big mess. Getting into edit-revert wars is utterly pointless, so let's work out some sort of compromise: Let me figure out the organizational issues and since you seem to be an expert on the topic, you work on the content itself. Here are the issues:

  1. There are two articles, Pekiti Tirsia and Pekiti Tirsia Kali that essentially describe the same thing, so they need to be merged. In other words, Put all the information in one article (go with Pekiti Tirsia because it was here first) and have Pekiti Tirsia Kali redirect to the other.
  2. Grand Tuhon as you made it in your last edit (simply with the Wiktionary box) is unacceptable. The article needs content and can't just be a pointer to Wiktionary. It looks like it could be expanded upon. Perhaps you could write about the history of the term and give a list of all previous Grand Tuhons. That would make it a worthy article. Additionally, the Wiktionary link is not particularly useful because it's just the same information.
  3. You created a new category Filipino Martial Arts. How is Pekiti Tirsia different from Eskrima? Is it a type of eskrima or is it something totally different? If it's a type of eskrima, then please put it back into Category:Eskrima and we'll have the new category deleted. If not, then we'll make the eskrima category a subcategory of Filipino Martial Arts (which, by the way, should be "Filipino martial arts" per WP:MOS).
  4. Filipino Martial Arts should be titled Filipino martial arts according to WP:MOS, so I will have it moved there.

If you haven't yet, I suggest you read the Five Pillars of Wikipedia as they are a good introduction to our community. Additionally, It is recommended that you use the preview button before you save; this helps you find any errors you have made, and prevents clogging up recent changes and the page history. Please be aware that you recent edits to Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater have actually removed more content than they have added. Please don't remove content from wikipedia as it is considered to be vandalism, thanks. -- malo (talk)/(contribs) 07:31, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please stop. If you continue to vandalize pages, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- malo (talk)/(contribs) 07:33, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This is your last warning. The next time you vandalize a page, you will be blocked from editing Wikipedia. -- malo (talk)/(contribs) 07:36, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You have been temporarily blocked from editing for vandalism of Wikipedia. If you wish to make useful contributions, you may come back after the block expires. -- ( drini's vandalproof page ) 07:44, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not remove the above comments from your talk page, as this is also considered vandalism. Thanks. --PeruvianLlama(spit) 08:11, 2 December 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Samboy.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 07:19, 2 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging Image:Alc.jpg.jpg

[edit]
Warning sign
This media may be deleted.

Thanks for uploading Image:Alc.jpg.jpg. I notice the 'image' page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is therefore unclear. If you have not created this media yourself then you need to argue that we have the right to use the media on Wikipedia (see copyright tagging below). If you have not created the media yourself then you should also specify where you found it, i.e., in most cases link to the website where you got it, and the terms of use for content from that page.

If the media also doesn't have a copyright tag then you must also add one. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then you can use {{GFDL-self}} to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media qualifies as fair use, please read fair use, and then use a tag such as {{Non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair_use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other media, please check that you have specified their source and copyright tagged them, too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any unsourced and untagged images will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. Simply mentioning the source is in no way sufficient for such images. Images that are copyrighted, as you've asserted that they are, are generally not allowed for usage on Wikipedia. In some limited cases we are allowed to use copyrighted images under the notion of "Fair use". An example of this is providing the original photo for the article Tank Man, whose inclusion would otherwise be a copyright violation. We are definately not allowed to use copyrighted photos merely to decorate articles. If you want to upload copyrighted material, please read Wikipedia:Fair use and provide a detailed rationale for why the image qualifies as "fair use" under US law. —Gabbe 09:29, 1 March 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Image Tagging for Image:Octacon.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading Image:Octacon.jpg. The image has been identified as not specifying the source and creator of the image, which is required by Wikipedia's policy on images. File permission problem with File:Schilling.jpg

[edit]

Thanks for uploading File:Schilling.jpg, which you've attributed to http://www.geocities.com/pmcmssr/rescued2.html[dead link]. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file has agreed to release it under the given license.

If you are the copyright holder for this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either

  • make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
  • Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en@wikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here. If you take this step, add {{OTRS pending}} to the file description page to prevent premature deletion.

If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-en@wikimedia.org.

If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:File copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:File copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.

If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have created in your upload log. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. You may wish to read Wikipedia's image use policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Stefan2 (talk) 10:45, 17 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]
