Thank you for editing this article. Please note that the "typo" you have been correcting is actually a direct quote in which the original author made a misspelling. So that we do not change the quote, the expression [sic] has been inserted to confirm that the "error" is intentional. Pardon the note, if you are already aware of this; nobody wants a revert war on such a fine point. Risker 08:30, 11 March 2007 (UTC)

Please try to address the issue rather than blindly reverting it..I am not disputing the event it self..But what's written in the article is kinda deceiving.Hope you understand this.Iwazaki 会話。討論 09:55, 13 March 2007 (UTC)

If that is the case, then the article needs to be as NPOV as possible then. You can go ahead and revert it back now. Sorry for the confusion. Wiki Raja 10:03, 13 March 2007 (UTC)
Raja, please calm down , you are showing your emotions way tooooooo much these days. And no we don't accept tamil-something sites as reliable sources..I don't mind having them in the articles dedicated to terrorists or Suicide bombers, But not in notable events like Jaffna Library burning.Iwazaki 会話。討論 00:39, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
one more thing, please don't talk to your self, as you did in my talk page coz it only makes me laugh thus discouraging me from replying you..Since I was asking questions from you, why would I answer them ?? It doesnt make any sense to me, could you please elaborate that at the article-talk page ?Iwazaki 会話。討論 00:42, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
I am calm and cool as a cucumber. Why is it a problem to use Tamil sites that talk about the Jaffna library burning down? After all it is a Tamil library right? Also, why would you only accepte Tamil sites which talk about terrorism? Your statement is truly biased, and prejudiced. And what do you mean by showing my emotions way too much these days? Are you a stalker? Send me another message like this and I will kindly report you. Have a nice day. Wiki Raja 05:48, 14 March 2007 (UTC)

What do you mean by showing my emotions way too much these days? We have only been corressponding for the past couple of days. You talk like you have known me for a while or something. Wiki Raja 14:02, 14 March 2007 (UTC)
Wikiraja I have extensively copy edited Burning of Jaffna library today. Can you help me out with some pictures of burned out library and rebuilt one instead of a link right now. I know you are expert in these matters. Thanks RaveenS 17:27, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I do not like the idea of having the flag on the same page as the Burning of the Jaffna library. Perhaps it can be a litte nore neutral with a map instead?
Raja that template was a great compromise user Netmonger that replaced the more non neutral State terrorism by Sri Lanka template that I came up with. It has all the articles that we need to know about the current Sri Lankan conflict, like it or not the Flag is the Flag of Sri Lanka. It is minor detail to get upset with. You can always discuss replacing it with the map of the country in the template discussion page and see whether you have consensus on it. But what will be of immense help to the article is to come up with some pictures that tell the true story before and after the burning also you are really good at this a map of the Jaffna city locating the Library, Market, Hindu Temple and MP’s house which were all destroyed that shows the direction of the mob in attacking these places. The cabinet ministers were at the government rest house. What do you think ?Thanks 13:15, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
Well, I feel it is disrespect to those who were effected during those times by the government to have the flag on the same page solely. Since it takes two to tango in a conflict, why not have both the Eelam flag and the Sri Lankan flag? Wiki Raja 21:23, 16 March 2007 (UTC)
It's a good argument that means you have to edit the template and you need to get consensus on such an edit. Also you should look at how other civil conflict related templates are structured. If you think the flag is disrespectful and you find other templates dont have flags because of it then I am open to support such an edit. Rember it will open a can of worms though. But I think you have a valid point. Thanks 13:51, 21 March 2007 (UTC)

Telugu language

Could you explain why you have reverted my version? I've reverted the changes by User:Bsreddys for the following reasons:

  • It is a fact that telugu borrows many words from sanskrit.
  • The sentence "belonging to the central family of dravidian languages" is repeated twice. And below that it is mentioned again that telugu belongs to "south centra" dravidian languages (inconsistent desription).
  • He has change "trilinga" to "telinga" without any explanataion.

Please post your reply in this page itself. --(Sumanth|Talk) 04:52, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Yes, indeed you are right. Lately, we have been having some biased trouble makers running around making up things as they go. Please accept my humble appologies. Wiki Raja 05:50, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
Thanks for reverting back. Happy editing!!! --(Sumanth|Talk) 05:58, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
No problem. I see that you are from Andra Pradesh? How do you like the Telugu templates I have created. Anyways, was wondering perhaps if you might be interested in joining our WikiProject Dravidian Civilizations. We could use an editor specializing in Telugu topics. If you are interested, please go here and post your name in the members section. Regards. Wiki Raja 06:35, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
I am no expert but I think I can at least help as a minor contributor. Could you provide a link to Telugu templates?. It seems that some of the templates on Dravidian civilizations project page don't exist? (exampe: Template:Dravidian topics). What is the reason for this? --(Sumanth|Talk) 06:47, 15 March 2007 (UTC)
The reason for this is that some trouble makers had a vote to have it removed, stating that it had too many topics. Yeah right. I don't believe that. Anyways, here is how it used to look like here. Wiki Raja 07:02, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

Greetings from Australia

Greetings Wiki Raja

I am a student of ancient language and culture like you. I would like your help. I am studying ancient love poetry. Tamil love poetry is very famous, but I do not know where to start. I will be spending 3 months studying Sumerian love poetry, then I want to study Tamil love poetry. If you can find time to point me to good writers about Tamil love poetry in English, I would really appreciate it.

Also, can you tell me anything more about the people of Kerala. It seems like it is a very complicated place. Jain, Hindu, Muslem and Catholic preachers, rajahs and British governments, ... How close are Tamil and Dravidian in Kerala? Were they/are they a majority?

Peace friend.Alastair Haines 10:49, 15 March 2007 (UTC)

In regards to ancient Tamil Love Poetry, it can be found in the last ten chapters of the Thirukkural. There are many English translations which can be found on this. One of the earliest English translators was George Uglow Pope. It shouldn't be a problem to find any copy of the Thirukkural in a library. Another good source would be the Purananuru. It is composed of 400 poems by over 150 poets/ poetess. Here are a couple of books you can look up:
  • Takahashi, Takanobu (1995). Tamil Love Poetry and Poetics. Netherlands: Leiden: E.J.Brill Academic Publishers. ISBN 9004100423.
  • Hart, George L. (1999). The four hundred songs of war and wisdom : an anthology of poems from classical Tamil: The Purananuru. New York: Columbia University Press. ISBN 0231115628.
Tamils and Malayalees (people of Kerala) are the most closest two civilizations in South Asia. There languages are very close to each other too. As a matter of fact, Kerala was the domain of one of the three Tamil kingdoms known as the Cheras. Both Tamil and Malayalam also have similarities in their scripts. In regards to the multi religions of Kerala, it is the same in Tamil Nadu as well as in the Tamil dominated parts of Sri Lanka.
One of the earliest faiths in Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka was animism before the arrival of Hinduism, Buddhism, and Jainism ideologies from the Northern part of the sub-continent. Hinduism amongst the people of Southern India and especially Tamil Nadu is a mixture of their indigenous dieties and some of the Hindu pantheon. The earliest time of Christianity on the Indian sub-continent was through Thomas the Apostle, one of the twelve disciples of Christ. He travelled by a merchant ship to Kerala during the 1st century C.E. and built 7 churches there. During Roman persecution in the Middle East, Judaism found its way along the sea-trade route to Kerala too. Between the 1400s and 1500s, Islam started making its way southward down the sub-continent, but met with a strong resistence. After Islam, Catholicism was introduced by the Portuguese who arrived Kerala and Sri Lanka during the early part of the 1500s. When the British arrived, they introduced Protestantism, Anglicanism, and other Christian denominations in Southern India and Sri Lanka.
Also, to note, the India we see today did not exist before the arrival of the British. The term India or Indian are not found in any of the indigenous literature of Sanskrit, Tamil, Bengali, Telugu and so forth. It was a word used by the British which was derived from the Greek word Indica. That term was translated by the Greeks from the Persian word Hindu or Sindhu also denoting the name of the river and valley of the Indus. One can also discover that many of the major cities in India are not of indigenous names either. For example, in Tamil Nadu the cities of Madras, Salem, and Travancore. Also the city of Tanjore was a British name that was changed from the original Tamil name Tanjavur. The was also a French colony in Tamil Nadu called Pondicherry meaning nice village. Bombay is of Portuguese which was called by them Bom Bahia meaning nice bay which was later changed to Bombay by the British. In Kerala, there is a seaport called Cochin, another Portuguese word. In China, there was also a Portuguese colony called Cochin.
The Indian subcontinent was composed of many smaller kingdoms and countries. Kerala was known as the Chera kingdom, while in Tamil Nadu and Northeastern Sri Lanka there were the Chola and Pandya kingdoms. In Northern Tamil Nadu and Andra Pradesh, there was the Pallava kingdom. Overall, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Northeastern Sri Lanka were known as Tamilakkam or the Tamil country. Akkam meaning inner, inner core, or love in Tamil literature. This may sound like treason to many nationalists, but that is history. Also, due to the geographic location of Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Sri Lanka one can find a multi-religious and secular society. There is also a high tolerance towards each other's faiths. Also, if one were to hear of conflicts in that part of the region, it is mainly due to differences of ethnicity, language, and caste. Not so much with religion. Anyways, I hope this info was helpful. Please drop me a message if you need anything else. Regards. Wiki Raja 00:27, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
Wow Wiki Raja, I'll be chasing those books at the library next week! You've really given me an inside look into Tamil people in South India and Sri Lanka too. Thanks a bunch. I'll be chasing the Wiki enries on several of the topics you mention also. Danyavad (sorry, I don't know any Tamil yet, except 'akkam' ;). Alastair Haines 04:58, 17 March 2007 (UTC)
That's ok. I do not know much my self. Here is another word you can learn, Vanakkam, meaning greetings. It is kind of like the Hindi word Namaste. Notice akkam at the end of Vanakkam. Wiki Raja 05:08, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Edit war in Rajdhani Express

Hi Raja,

There is an edit war in the Rajdhani Express article.

One user: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:Ninnishipra is trying to force this Point of View in the article. I had reverted the change once, but another user (http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=User:Truevalue&action=edit) is intent on an edit war by reverting back the POV.

THis is the version, I have restored again.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rajdhani_Express#Rajdhani_Express_Today

This is the version, the 2 other users are trying to impose: http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=Rajdhani_Express&oldid=115495996#Rajdhani_Express_Today

As an new wikipedian, I am not sure what action to take in case of an edit war. (rams81 07:58, 16 March 2007 (UTC))

Hi, in regards to that page. If you find something POV, then post a citation tag like this, {{Cite needed}} which will produce this [citation needed] on the page, at the end of the sentence of paragraph. Also, in regards to the two users who are edit warring as a team, it seems that Truevlaue was created on March 16, 2007. Also, this user has edited on the same pages here as Ramananrv123 here. Your best bet would be to do a WP:RCU or checkuser on both these accounts here. If both accounts are found to have the same IP Address, in most cases they would both be blocked. Regards. Wiki Raja 00:42, 17 March 2007 (UTC)

Hi, Raja The issue of edit war in Indian Railways, Rajdhani Express and Shatabadi Express has been raised by some users as they think that posting an official version of Indian Rail will be a neutral point of view. If mentioning that Indian Rail needs heavy investment or it needs improvement to meet global standards becomes personal point of view, then this will not keep the Wikepedia's standard. Further, the fact that the Airlines are giving run for money to Rajdhani & Shatabadi by wooing its passengers is not a personal point of view, it is well known fact in today's India. Mentioning that Shatabadi & Rajdhani are very slow from Global STandards of Fastest trains is a fact, when TGV runs at 320 kms/hr and Maglev train runs at a top speed of 431 kms/hour. Hence, my request to you is that please maintain neutrality in these Railway related articles, towing Railway's official line will not maintain Wikipedia's standards. (Truevalue 07:29, 19 March 2007 (UTC))

Hi Truevalue,

Thanks for your post. It may be a well know fact in India that the railway system there is not up to standards. However, to the average reader who may not be from India, that may pose as a POV. My suggestion would be to provide a referenced source in regards to the latest update on the Indian Rail standards of service. Perhaps, from a newspaper or magazine. Now, that would really give a lot of weight on the information given. Regards. Wiki Raja 08:02, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Reply: Chola Dynasty - Chola Empire

Therefore it is an empire.

What is it here? Chola Empire is certainly an empire. I am not denying that. At the same time, Chola Dynasty is a dynasty. Both are not the same.
Chola Empire is Chola Empire.
Chola Dynasty is Chola Dynasty.
Chola Empire is not equal to Chola Dynasty.
Chola Dynasty is not equal to Chola Empire.

Bottom line: The article Chola Dynasty is about Chola Dynasty and not about Chola Empire.

I hope this clarifies. If further discussion is required, please continue in the article discussion page, where more people can participate, instead of our user talk pages. Thank you! - KNM Talk 00:39, 19 March 2007 (UTC)

Just have a question as to what this message is about. I have already posted my comment on that page here. Wiki Raja 03:17, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Case is opened. This means that the arbitrators are now accepting specific evidence if you're willing to provide them (in terms of edit diffs). By rules, if you're named as a party or given a comment, a clerk (or a helper, as in my case) has to alert everyone. - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 03:24, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok. Anyways, if I want to apply for a clerk position too, how do I go about applying for that position? Wiki Raja 03:27, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
I can't tell you really. For now, I'm just helping, and I guess if they need more people they'll formally ask people that's been helping. - Penwhale | Blast him / Follow his steps 03:32, 20 March 2007 (UTC)
Ok then. Thanks. Wiki Raja 03:35, 20 March 2007 (UTC)

I am an editor at Tamil Wikipedeia. We have an initiative there to develop a comprehensive information database about Tamil in Tamil. A similar project can be developed in English, as you have and others have indicated great interest in Tamil related subjects. If politics within Tamils can be kept at neutral state, or outside the realm of this project, the avenues for collaboration are endless. At the least, we can have a good collaboration between contributors at Tamil Wikipedia and Wikipedians in English Wikipedia with interest in Tamil. Sharing of sources and information, and protection against vandalism can be done in collaboration. Let me know your thoughts.

Hello Wiki Raja, you mention Indonesia as a "Muslim" country. It is not. Indonesia's constitution only provides for the freedom of worship and makes no reference to any particular religion. The country's emblem and flag carrier is Garuda, the Hindu king of birds, vahana (vehicle) of the god Vishnu. The relief organisation's name is Palang Merah Indonesia, the Indonesian Red Cross and not Red Crescent. Indonesia is a multi-religious nation. Its identity is not Islam but its cultural diversity, based on its rich history, :-) Anda Djoehana 14:42, 3 May 2007 (UTC)
