Fraser Lake, BC page changes

Received your message about undoing the edits as they were not relevant - the Village of Fraser of Lake views them as relevant - we would like to present our community more completely...please advise.Vfledo (talk) 16:36, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

The edit was a word-to-word copy and paste from the Village of Fraser Lake homepage, and that is considered a copyright violation in Wikipedia. You can read more here. Also, please be aware that writing on behalf of a company, village, town or any other entity is not allowed. See this. Thanks. Widr (talk) 16:54, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

Regarsing Your edit of Erik Skutle's wikipedia entry.

Hello. I find my edit to Mr. Skutle's Wikipedia page most relevant, as this case is currently being reported all over Norwegian media and also being linked to mass media-reported controlled substance arrests within the city of Bergen over the last weeks. He has also been named in local Bergen newspaper Bergens Tidende (link in Norwegian): http://mobil.bt.no/nyheter/innenriks/Stortingspolitiker-siktet-i-narkosak-3069165.html#.Uw9tj3NwbqA

Your addition didn't come with any sources. That's why I reverted it as "unsourced". If you want to put the text back, please add the reliable sources to the article accordingly. Widr (talk) 17:00, 27 February 2014 (UTC)

1. Please check this article. Currently second and third paragraph of 'history' section read:

"Cars like the customer, but as a result of a contract for the supply of Tiger and has not been signed, but Jordan's Al Dulayle Arab-Jordanian joint venture Advanced Industries of Arabia (AIA, 80% of the shares in BJG) beginning with the June 2005 production of identical armored Nimr in a variety of designs. So Gaza is still hurt - designed and ready for series production car. At GAZ were collected several cars second series - with a different interior and exterior styling. They called GAZ-233034 "Tiger" were presented at the MIMS-2002"

This seems to be really bad english. Cars like customers, or vice versa? How Gaza is related to GAZ Tigr? This article has some issues.

2. It was constructive remark, i just do not know how to use those fancy templates nor i know which one is suitable. Hope you can help me with that. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.67.99.101 (talk) 19:41, 1 March 2014 (UTC)

I've added couple of tags there, as it appears that those portions aren't the only problematic parts in the article. I suggest you raise the issue on the talk page of the article, and someone more familiar with the subject might have a closer look. Widr (talk) 19:56, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
Thank you. And BTW: bombing new users with pre-prepared messages claiming that what they do is vandalism in cases such as this is in my opinion not the best idea. It's against the idea of assuming good faith, but even worse it scares people off and makes them not contribute to Wikipedia any more. All the different rules are too complicated, it's very hard to follow them if you are editing Wikipedia only seldom, and increasingly edits are reverted regardless of their merit. I was contributing to Wikipedia for years, not very often, ust few times a year. But now i got to the point that i can't contribute, because virtually everything i do got reverted. Yes, i do not know templates, i do not know hundreds of different rules which are as long as Dostoyevsky novel, and i make mistakes - but there is no trying to cooperate on the side of the people which do know all those byzantine rules, it's just plain rejection. You guys really need to rethink it. Please share it with others if you find my point of view interesting. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 89.67.99.101 (talk) 20:48, 1 March 2014 (UTC)
I did not send you any messages regarding your misplaced good faith edit, although I noticed that somebody else did (erroneously classifying it as vandalism). I understand what you mean and agree with you; some of the rules in Wikipedia are quite difficult to follow, even if editing here on a daily basis. I hope you continue editing and don't let these kind of misunderstandings get you down. We learn as we go along, and talk pages are often good place to turn to if you have questions of any sort. That's not how it works. You can't simply add your name to the list even if you see yourself as "born legend". Notability has to be earned first. Widr (talk) 22:35, 6 March 2014 (UTC)

For Wikipedia's page on anxiety disorders, the first sentence reads as, "Anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders characterized excessive feelings of anxiety and fear". This is incoreect, as it should say,"Anxiety disorders are a group of mental disorders characterized by excessive feelings of anxiety and fear" The first sentence was missing the word by and was consequently made unclear, so I suggest either you or I edit it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Sonoming (talkcontribs) 22:59, 7 March 2014 (UTC)

This is not an article about the movie. Your edits were made in good faith, but they were completely unnecessary, plus the fact that your original edits did not even have a mention of the title of the movie you were referring to. Widr (talk) 15:34, 12 March 2014 (UTC)

Chauncey Black.

Yes, you did not do it right. Chauncey Black did not form or create the name "BlackStreet". I did. and I changed that fact to the truth. Who are you? Do you work for Wiki? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.222.7.234 (talk) 05:58, 13 March 2014 (UTC)

The problem with the article is that there are no reliable sources at all, not for your changes either. Hey Martin. Everything you add has to be referenced correctly, so that it can be verified. You might want to make edit requests on the talk pages of the articles you want to change. For example, this is the talk page for History of the anti-nuclear movement article. Widr (talk) 16:19, 22 March 2014 (UTC)

i would like Wikipedia to add the information i supplied to the proper segments or categories concerning the events in 1981-82 . the world peace march the U.N. second special session for disarmament anti nuclear weapons movement history

http://www.thecrimson.com/article/1982/4/30/world-peace-march-members-welcomed-by/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pBQjYLQHhVY&feature=share http://wagingnonviolence.org/2009/06/remembering-the-1982-rally-against-nuclear-arms/

in 1981,Nichidatsu Fujii, dispatched his followers to march and chant around the globe in support of the U.N. 2nd. special session for disarmament. In the U.S.A. marchers began in New Orleans, L.A. and San Francisco, in Canada marchers began in Montreal and Toronto. The San Fransisco March began on Oct. 21, 1981 with a ceremony on Alcatraz. 13 marchers, being Buddhist followers of Nipponzan-Myōhōji, Native Americans, U.S. and German citizens, began the S.F. march. marching about 20 mile per day they were hosted each night by community groups in every town and on Native reservations. many mayors and town councils made proclamations and such honoring the the peace and disarmament marchers. over the course of the march citizens were moved to join. By the time they arrived in Chicago the S.F. marchers numbered about 30. in may of '82 the group of about 40 marchers from Toronto Ont. joined the S.F. group in Buffalo N.Y. at the International Peace Bridge doubling the size of the group. thru the state of N.Y. 10 to 20 people joined the march daily.when the S.F. group walked across the George Washington Bridge they numbered about 300. the groups on other march routs also grew over the 7 months. on June 12, 1982, In Central Park Nipponzan-Myōhōji marchers from the U.S.A., Europe, Africa, and Asia, joined with mobilization for survival organizers and religious and peace groups from around the world in a peaceful demonstration for disarmament of many million people.

My suggestion that Wikipedia should try to be consistent in its entries, specifically the discrepancy between that on Leopole Mozart and that of his daughter Maria Anna

I see all you seem to have done is to revert to what was there before and made no attempt to improve the entry despite my suggestion. This is what is said about Maria Anna's marriage in the Leopold Mozart entry:

Nannerl had a number of suitors,[18] of whom the most important was Franz Armand d'Ippold, with whom she was evidently in love. In the end she did not marry him, and the reason for this is unknown. One possibility, frequently entertained by biographers,[19] is that the marriage was blocked by Leopold, who liked having Nannerl at home as the lady of the house. However, Halliwell [20] observes that no written evidence on this point survives and insists that we simply do not know why Nannerl married so late. Nannerl finally did marry in August 1784, at age 33.

And this is how the entry on Maria Anna reports it:

She fell in love with Franz d'Ippold, who was a captain and private tutor, but was forced by her father to turn down his marriage proposal. Wolfgang attempted, in vain, to get Marianne to stand up for her own preference.

The first entry merely reports that there were suggestions that the marriage was blocked, but that Halliwell specifically observes that 'no written evidence on this point survives...' The second states categorically that Marianne was 'forced by her father to turn down the marriage proposal', but give no evidence whatsoever for that claim. It even claims that Wolfgand attempted to get her to stand up, but again there is no reference to any evidence.

So what is it? And why did you simply revert to what was written before? Did you consult the Leopold Mozart entry? It seems you didn't or else you would have spotted the discrepancy I have highlighted above. So why not?

Are you one of Wikipedia's named editors or just a punter like me dipping in and dipping out. If you are an editor, I would have expected a far higher standard.

In the past I have been taken to task for adding information (to a page on my old school) which it was said could only be hearsay, so why should that be allowed here. There seems to be one rule for some and one rule for others. I repeat the claim that Leopold forced his daughter to turn down a marriage proposal and the Wolfgang took her side are nothing more than hearsay, yet you seem willing to keep them in. Why?

~pfgowell~ — Preceding unsigned comment added by Pfgpowell (talkcontribs) 19:18, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

You should take your suggestion to the talk page of that article. It wasn't appropriate to add such comments to the article itself, especially written with ALL CAPITAL LETTERS. Widr (talk) 19:25, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

That was purely to alert anyone reading the piece that it was NOT part of the entry. And your onservation doesn't even begin to explain why you simply re-instated what was there before. I notice in a previous email you tick off someone and say 'Everything [you add] has to be referenced correctly, so that it can be verified'. So why don't you practise what your preach? Reference the claim that Leopold forced his daughter to give up her suitor and that Wolfgang tried to get her to stand up to her father or take it out. Simple.

I did not re-instate anything, I just removed your misplaced comment (detected by anti-vandalism tool STiki, which is the only reason I even came across the article). Like I said, you should take the issue to the talk page of the article where people interested in the subject can discuss it with you. Widr (talk) 20:00, 24 March 2014 (UTC)
