Floyd-Warshall algorithm question
My correction of the Floyd Algorithm are correct. The entire artcle needs a rewrite to be both understandable and correct. As it remains, it is confusing my students and I spend a lot of time correcting their errors gleaned from this article. This is a simple to understand algorithm when explained clearly. Instead we don't only have mathematical snobbery, but truly inaccurate information. I am SICK of wikipeadia inability to just tell wrong from write. Mathematical truth is not a matter of a VOTE. When k = 1, it is not equal to zero. Fixing this page requires a complete rewrite because the graph and the agorthms don't match and the explanation doesn't inform the reader of facts. Not having fixed these problems in the article has been called not passing a litmus test. The only litmus test here is if the article is informative and educational. It is NOT. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 96.57.23.82 (talk) 02:16, 17 May 2015 (UTC)
- I am not able to dust off my graph theory textbook tonight and discuss the mathematical details. But I reverted your edits because you are not going about your proposed corrections the right way. Writing that the article "is incorrect" within the article itself is not the place to do so; rather, the talk page is where you want to start.
- Are you familiar with WP:BRD? Be bold in your editing, but once you've been reverted, it's time to discuss and seek consensus at the talk page, instead of trying to push through your changes. As you can see, you've been reverted by multiple editors, many of whom have technical mathematical backgrounds, meaning that it's time to discuss and forge real consensus. Until you do that, your proposed changes to the article simply won't stick. I hope this clarifies the administrative side of the issue! /wia /talk 02:24, 17 May 2015 (UTC)

Kaitlyn Dias
Dear WIA,
Thank you for your feedback.
This is in regards to the "Comment: IMDb and Wikipedia are not reliable sources. The remaining references don't discuss Kaitlyn Dias in enough detail to prove that she's notable. They only mention her in passing, in at most one sentence. To make out notability, you'll need to find and add reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks, wia (talk) 13:36, 24 April 2015 (UTC)"
I understand the situation, but part of the problem I am having is that she is a new comer in Pixar's up coming (june 19th) movie Inside Out, and no one has started talking about her in detail yet. I would like for them/the public to have a place (Wikipedia) that they can go to start getting accurate information on Kaitlyn.
Best Regards, RichardGDias1 (talk) 00:17, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Richard Dias
- @RichardGDias1: If there is no detailed information about Kaitlyn Dias on the web, then what content could we possibly put in a Wikipedia article? Therein lies the problem with some subjects (especially up-and-coming people) on Wikipedia; they're just too soon. If there's no substantive content about Dias available yet, perhaps there will be more once the film opens. The good news is that there's no deadline or rush when it comes to drafts. Once enough has been written about her, the
articlesubject will become notable anditthe article will likely be accepted. /wia /talk 00:23, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
WIA,
Agreed. We should see more press on Kaitlyn next month.
Thanks again, RichardGDias1 (talk) 00:40, 19 May 2015 (UTC)Richard Dias

National Christian Foundation
Hi WIA,
Thanks for your feedback to my AFC for National Christian Foundation. Your notes were helpful, and I updated the verbiage in the article:
- Removed buzzwords like, "solutions" throughout the article. You're right - that screams "buzz".
- I decided to capitalize "Asset-Based Giving" because that's how I saw it used on their website and throughout the web. From what I gather, "Asset-Based Giving" is not limited to $$, but also tangible products. Still, I went ahead and removed it from the article.
- ......reworded other items and made small changes throughout the article.
Would you mind reviewing once more? Additional feedback is welcome!
Should I resubmit? Or is notifying you enough? Since you've been sort of overseeing the article, I especially want your feedback.
Thanks in advance.
Talk soon, Copeland
- @Copeland.powell: Sorry I didn't respond right away; I've been busy. The article's reading better now. I typically don't review an article twice in a row but I've gone ahead and resubmitted it for you. Another reviewer should be along within a few weeks to have another go at the article. In the meantime, you're more than welcome to continue tinkering with the draft or working on something else on Wikipedia; there's always something to be done!

Abdulaziz Al-Bashir review
Hi Wia, First of all I would like to thank you very much for the time you've taken to review my article. As for the sources, most of the article is based on a booklet written on Abdulaziz Al-Bashir, but the booklet is in Arabic. We've also taken some information from well known Arabic newspapers in Kuwait. If you would like me to scan the booklet for you, I would do so. Here are two links of newspaper articles in Arabic, but I have more.
http://alwatan.kuwait.tt/articledetails.aspx?id=414585 http://www.alqabas-kw.com/Article.aspx?id=1016865&date=15012015
Thanks again
Radbleu (talk) 10:06, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Radbleu: You are allowed to cite the booklet if it is a reliable source. If it is indeed reliable, you wouldn't need to scan a copy, per WP:RS:
“ | The term "published" is most commonly associated with text materials, either in traditional printed format or online. However, audio, video, and multimedia materials that have been recorded then broadcast, distributed, or archived by a reputable party may also meet the necessary criteria to be considered reliable sources. Like text sources, media sources must be produced by a reliable third party and be properly cited. Additionally, an archived copy of the media must exist. It is convenient, but by no means necessary, for the archived copy to be accessible via the Internet. | ” |
- I'm not familiar with many Arabic newspapers, but if these two meet the reliability standard, then they can certainly be included in the references and will help. Another thing you should do is add inline citations whenever you make claims about the subject that are contentious or likely to be challenged. Inline citations are important because they help readers track down the reference to the specific claims made in an article. Those sources you mentioned above will help, but I'd consider trying to find even more references to convincingly demonstrate his notability.
- I fear there is also some original research scattered throughout the draft. Simply put, original research can sneak into an article when there are subjective claims, opinions, value judgments and the like about the subject. For example, the Draft:Abdulaziz Al-Bashir article claims that "He constantly encouraged employees to enrol in training courses and higher studies, which was also a helpful element in keeping up with latest developments in the field". This needs an inline citation or else, to be blunt, it might appear to the reader that the author has made it up. The "Favorite pastime" section also contains original research, which should be either supported by references that explicitly back up those claims, or it should be removed entirely. /wia /talk 20:58, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
A useful tool for the disambiguation contest.
Have I told you about this list? bd2412 T 19:29, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- @BD2412: Is this essentially a continuation of the list from which the first thousand DAB pages (the ones that make up the DAB challenge) are culled? Cool! I haven't been as active as I'd like recently (real life creeps in now and again) but I will bookmark this page and take a stab at it when I can. Thanks! /wia /talk 21:00, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- Actually, no - this is a list of articles containing the most disambiguation links that need fixing, and that count for the contest. Go through two dozen of these pages and you'll have fixed a hundred links. bd2412 T 21:08, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
K Rend
Hi WIA
Thanks for your comments. They are very helpful. I'm hoping you can steer me in the right direction. I had previously rewritten the History section of my draft as suggested by you previously. As suggested I didn't paraphrase, however there are some phrases that need to remain the same as the K News article because they are peoples names etc. Is there any other way around this, or any other suggestions that you might have. I really need this article to go live and am willing to make the necessary changes to do so.
Hi I have also noticed that you have pointed to JP Corrys website for copyrighting. This is actually copy I have written for submission on their website. Any suggestions? I could ask them to remove it until this article makes it through the submission process. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Debbie M Wilson (talk • contribs) 13:53, 20 May 2015 (UTC) Thanks in advance Debbie M Wilson (talk) 07:57, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Debbie M Wilson: Names aren't a copyright issue, so you're good there! The sentences I have flagged for copyright issues are as follows:
- "The K Rend silicone range incorporates silicone water repellents as an integral part of the cement based render system. This silicone technology imparts a high degree of water repellency to the render surface whilst allowing water vapour to pass through the render allowing the substrate to breathe. The water repellent surface ensures a freshly rendered appearance for a prolonged period. The finish is drier and thus more resistant to algae growth and the natural phenomenon of limebloom."
- "K Rend Silicone Scraped Textured Renders - a range of one coat applications which can be plastered directly on to block work. They can also be used as a finish in conjunction with a K Rend Base Coat. There are 20 standard colours for the scraped texture range. Special colours are also available from a customisable pallet, upon request."
- "K Rend Silicone Thin Coat (TC) Renders - Silicone Thin Coat is a pre-mixed, silicone based, ready to use organic resin render which is usually hand applied. It provides a low maintenance, decorative finish, is available in two different textures TC 15 & TC 30 and in a wide range of colours. Silicone TC holds the prestigious kitemark licence to BS EN 15827:2009"
- "Uses High performance decorative textured finish for application onto a prepared substrate. Particularly suitable where lightweight render systems are required, such as an external wall insulation system Benefits Water repellent Low maintenance Allows structure to breathe Natural looking finish Extensive colour range"
- "Silicone Thin Coat can be colour matched using the Natural Colour System offered users a wider range of colour options."
- These should be rephrased or removed entirely. If you have written those texts yourself for the company website, it's likely that copyright has fallen to your employer. In that case, you aren't permitted to use it on Wikipedia unless your employer licenses the copyrighted text to Wikipedia. See WP:PERMISSIONS for details on how copyright-holders can license text to Wikipedia. I've never done it myself, but I hear the whole process takes a bit of time. If you've got any other questions, I'm happy to field them here as best I can! /wia /talk 20:05, 20 May 2015 (UTC)
Hi WIA Thanks so much for pinpointing to the issues. I have email K Rend marketing manager who has approved use of the material and submitted the links to Wikimedia commons. Fingers crossed. Debbie M Wilson (talk) 12:56, 21 May 2015 (UTC)

- @Craiger19: The article looks pretty good to me, although a few more references in the "Use of Wood and other materials" and "Tools and Techniques" sections would help show that the content of those sections is not original research.
Once you feel that you have cleaned up those sections according to Wikipedia's standards, you're welcome to be bold and remove the cleanup tag yourself!Ah, Primefac has suggested that another user remove the tag themselves. Okay, how about this: if you can find some more references, add them and then let me know here on my talk page and I'll re-review that section. /wia /talk 13:06, 23 May 2015 (UTC)
Abdulaziz Al-Bahsir _Radio Program
Dear Wia, Thank you very much for your prompt reply and constructive advice. I am including an audio file, which is a weekly radio program. To Whom it may concern,
I am requesting a re-review as I have written this as neutral as I believe necessary. As a female architect, there is a general lack of female representation in the field prominently male. It is not my intention for the entry to read as an advertisement for Dr Maturana, I believe this may be due to many of her opinions as most of her work expresses these opinions. The book publication can also be deleted if this will help with the entry, this was a major publication for her and it seemed relevant to include but if it is against the wikipedia guidelines then I can remove it with no issue. I am happy to edit out the sections which you feel the entry is not subjective enough or rewrite sections altogether provided you feedback. I would not like to see an architect with such global influences and a history of social justice not be more freely known to all wikipedia users.
I do hoipe you reconsider or provide some feedback for a more balanced entry that you would deem appropriate for wikipedia.
Thank you
Chris Buchhorn

- @Bbosramek: It's not just the table at http://www.hemodynamicsociety.org/syshemo.html that's at issue; there's also some text that's been copied. Since the content on that website is copyrighted, you can't use it on Wikipedia just yet—even if you are the copyright-holder. What you need to do is follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Donating copyrighted materials. Specifically, WP:DONATETEXT is the section of that article that will probably be the most help to you. Please let me know.

Bbosramek (talk) 01:45, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Bbosramek: I am not completely sure. I think that because of WP:COMPLIC, the mere absence of the copyright logo is insufficient to remove your copyright over the text. (In essence, I think your copyright subsists regardless of whether you claim it.) However, I am no expert in American copyright law, and so I suggest you ask at WP:CQ. Someone there should know whether merely removing the copyright symbol is sufficient. Sorry I don't have the answer for you, but copyright is a tricky legal issue and I want to make sure you get the right answer. Thanks! /wia /talk 01:52, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
14:45:25, 24 May 2015 review of submission by Albanianhistory
Hello! I only have one source at the moment, written in Albanian. How many sources are required for this to be approved?
Albanianhistory (talk) 14:45, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Albanianhistory: It often depends on the situation, but a good rule of thumb is at WP:BIO: "People are presumed notable if they have received significant coverage in multiple published secondary sources that are reliable, intellectually independent of each other, and independent of the subject." You'll need to find significant coverage in multiple sources. So there's not a bright-line rule for the number of references you'll need. I'd try to find at least another one, maybe another two. Check old newspapers on Google, at your local library, on databases like Jstor and the like (if you have access). You never know what'll turn up! /wia /talk 16:21, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
Abdulaziz Al-Bashir review - Added ref.
Dear Wia,
Thank you once again for your guidance. I added some new references and included the audio. As for the sentence "He constantly encouraged employees to enrol in training courses and higher studies, which was also a helpful element in keeping up with latest developments in the field" and The "Favorite pastime" section, they are clearly mentioned in the radio program and the booklet. But, if you think it is better that I discard them, I will.
Also Wia, I am preparing the Arabic and French versions; what is the procedure?
Thank you and enjoy what is left of the weekend.
Radbleu (talk) 11:50, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Radbleu: If those claims are explicitly cited in the radio program and booklet, then you can keep them in, as long as they are written in a way that complies with WP:NPOV and as long as you put an inline citation after the claims.
- As for writing the article in Arabic and French, the requirements differ on the different-language Wikipedias. You can create an account on the French Wikipedia and try posting your article there; I think they have different notability and referencing requirements, but I'm not totally sure, so I'd suggest asking around on the French Wikipedia itself. Same goes for the Arabic Wikipedia. /wia /talk 16:23, 24 May 2015 (UTC)

Human Right Self Defense
Why Did you delete my analysis on the Uniquely American Human Right Self Defense what's protected by the 2nd Amendment ? 1) are you an American ?
- @Ai6pg: The content you added to Second Amendment to the United States Constitution was unreferenced original research that was not written in the formal style that Wikipedia requires. I suggest reading WP:NPOV. /wia /talk 21:58, 18 May 2015 (UTC)
That's a lot to read. Could you be more specific ?
- @Ai6og: Well, contributing to Wikipedia usually entails a lot of reading, and sooner or later it's advisable to read all of Wikipedia's policies to get a good handle on them. But two parts of that page that are important are WP:IMPARTIAL and WP:SUBJECTIVE. I would also add WP:OR and WP:SYNTH to the list. They're not long sections and I think they'd be helpful to read. /wia /talk 00:26, 19 May 2015 (UTC)
Wikiisawesome - --- I'm not being disruptive. It's a uniquely American Human Right to be able to defend Self. You have a Self so stand tall and defend Self. We all do have this tight to be able to defend self from rape/murder which are violations of self. Get the point please. -- — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ai6pg (talk • contribs) 04:52, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Ai6pg: Actually, the right to self defence is not a uniquely American one, as it exists in the Canadian (and presumably the British) common law. Furthermore, you are not citing any legitimate sources for these bald assertions, and so it comes off as original research. I understand what you're trying to do here on Wikipedia, but if you continue shoving that content into articles without regard for consensus or WP:NPOV, your attempts will consistently be reverted and you may end up being blocked. You need reputable sources and consensus if you want your edits to stick. /wia /talk 10:03, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Reputable is based on Natural Law. You have Self given by God and, he does want you defend it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ai6pg (talk • contribs) 18:56, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Ai6pg: Unfortunately, merely saying that something is natural law does not make it so, nor does it necessarily make it suitable for inclusion on Wikipedia. Right now, your interpretation of the Second Amendment is just that—an original interpretation, which is not permitted on Wikipedia. It might work on a blog or a personal website, but not here. You will need to find and add reliable, independent (third-party) sources that have explicitly argued that the Second Amendment is as you say it is. "Natural law" itself is not a reliable source. Indeed, it is not a source at all. Next, you will need to suggest your changes on the appropriate talk page in an effort to forge consensus. If consensus is against you, then the content cannot be added to Wikipedia. /wia /talk 19:53, 25 May 2015 (UTC)
Well I faxed my interpretation and vision to Congress and, I hope they will work to fix it. It's in the Bill of Rights. Now if you are an American, I hope you will see what I'm trying to do and raise the bar a bit, and it would be good for the economy too. As you know Rape and Murder are evil, and as an American, we do have a right to defend Self from it. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Ai6pg (talk • contribs) 23:34, 26 May 2015 (UTC)

New Article Submission on Regression Therapy
I understand you have rejected a new article on "Regression Therapy" and have suggested that it is included in an existing article on "Past Life Regression". I would like you to reconsider this decision the following reasons;
Regression Therapy is a separate discipline of therapy drawing on many healing modularities; age regression, inner child regression, body therapy, transpersonal experiences, and If stories emerge from a client that appear to be past lives they are dealt with as healing metaphors. Thats was clearly stated in the article. This is completely different from past life regression which is about allowing people having just "past life experiences" which they may think are real.
Past Life Regression is a controversial subject open to different religious and cultural views and the article is subject to may changes and disputes. Not an area I wish to enter.
Regression therapy is practiced by medical doctors and therapists working to a clearly defined international standard. It has thousands of therapists across the world doing this work. As such it deserves respect from Wikipedia to have an article covering this work.
The article on Regression Therapy has been written to provide notability and verification to meet Wikipedia standards. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Andy Tomlinson (talk • contribs) 09:48, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Andy Tomlinson: I'm sorry, but these two subjects still seem very similar to me. One is "a technique that uses hypnosis to recover what practitioners believe are memories of past lives or incarnations", while the other "uses a range of hypnotherapy and psychotherapy techniques but differs by putting more focus on regression and working with transpersonal experiences to transform them". I don't see any substantial difference in definition here, your post notwithstanding. The only difference seems to be the willingness of practitioners to treat memories as a metaphor. You're welcome to seek a second opinion at the Help Desk, of course. - @Wikiisawesome: If this logic is followed Regression Therapy could equally be added to articles on inner child regression, body memories, hypnosis or age regression. I'm sorry I disagree and would like the opinions from other editors. I'm new to writing Wikipedia articles and have put in a great mount of effort to meet all the requirements for a new page. Help please. /talk 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Andy Tomlinson: That's okay; disagreements are bound to happen from time to time on Wikipedia. The best course of action is to seek the opinion of other editors. Consensus is a great way to solve problems! Go on over to the Help Desk and post your question there (something along the lines of "my draft was declined for reason x; I think it deserves a re-review for reasons y and z."). Someone should be along with a fresh set of eyes not too long after you post! /wia /talk 11:21, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Andy Tomlinson: I'll note also that you appear to have cited your own publications in the draft article, which means you may have a conflict of interest. Conflict-of-interest editing is strongly discouraged on Wikipedia, and it is highly advisable to read WP:COI before proceeding with any edition in the subject. /wia /talk 10:24, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Wikiisawesome: My name was not mentioned in the article and I was not aware of a conflict of interest. In any event of the 64 references my books were mentioned 4 times. If this is an issue I'll pass my work on the article to an independent editor and they can include or reject my book references and resubmit the article /talk 27 May 2015 (UTC)

My submission was rejected because "the subject of this article already exists in Wikipedia. You can find it and improve it at Marsh & McLennan Companies instead." Marsh and Marsh & McLennan companies are separate entities. Marsh and McLennan companies is the parent company of Marsh LLC. We share history but they are separate and distinct entities.
Could you please let me know what I need to do get the Marsh page published?
Paid2Tweet (talk) 13:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Paid2Tweet: I will be busy for the next 5–6 hours but will give you a detailed answer later today! Thanks, /wia /talk 14:14, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Paid2Tweet: One of the main problems with the article is the referencing. Of all the references, only one (the Reuters article) talks about Marsh itself in significant detail. None of the others even seem to mention Marsh; instead, they all talk about Marsh & McLennan. In fact, the Bloomberg article seems to use the two names interchangeably. So while the companies may be different entities, the current referencing is a problem. You can remedy this by finding reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss Marsh (not just Marsh & McLennan) in significant detail. Alternatively, you could roll some of the content about Marsh into the existing Marsh & McLennan Companies article, perhaps by adding a new "History" section.
- I hope this answer makes sense. Let me know if you'd like further guidance or have any other questions! /wia /talk 20:26, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi, I tried a different plagiarism checker (Grammarly). The lede passed Grammarly, but you're right, the Instrument section looks problematical. Give me a day to work on it.
Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 17:30, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Stigmatella aurantiaca: Sure, that sounds good. The article looks great, so I'm sure once you resubmit it won't be long before it's approved. Thanks for all your hard work—I don't write too many articles, but when I do, I'm always cognizant of the effort required. /wia /talk 17:32, 24 May 2015 (UTC)
- I'm really upset. I worked very hard to bring the score down to 36.3%, but just today, a new link appeared "Ground-based and Airborne Instrumentation for Astronomy V" that gives a match of 49.0%!!! Looking closely at the Source, the matches are all isolated phrases. Advice? Stigmatella aurantiaca (talk) 21:54, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Stigmatella aurantiaca: It's not merely the number that indicates copyvio problems, but rather the similarities between the texts. The number the copyvio detector returns is sometimes helpful but it doesn't necessarily mean there's a copyright issue. If you compare the text of the two links here, you'll find that the majority of the putatively copied text is actually a series of names and proper nouns, which is not a copyright violation. So you don't have anything to worry about from a copyright perspective! /wia /talk 22:02, 27 May 2015 (UTC)

Search the supplied link, http://emmyonline.org/mediacenter/sports_34th_winners.html Jeff Kalvin is listed. It is properly referenced. Misterhandsfriend (talk) 15:29, 28 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Misterhandsfriend: Hi, and thanks for inquiring here! Per WP:BIO, articles about people require multiple reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. The current reference offers only one sentence about Kelvin. That's not sufficient coverage of Kelvin to make out notability, so more reliable sources will be necessary. /wia /talk 15:31, 28 May 2015 (UTC)

- @Soniamo: I'll be away from my computer for the next two hours, but after that I will run the report again and identify the sentences that I found to be too closely paraphrased. Thanks, /wia /talk 17:40, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Wikiiawesome: thanks Wikiiawesome, I have been chatting with other reviewers and they agreed it's not about plagiarism, please see below:

So I am working with topaz and we will submit it again. if you have other comments, please let me know
Thanks, Monica
- @Soniamo: Certainly, and I'll pitch in too if needed. I did think it was an edge case and so I'll happily defer if others agree it doesn't constitute a copyright or plagiarism problem. Best of luck with the article! /wia /talk 18:11, 27 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Wikiiawesome: great thanks!

Hi - I am trying to add a new Wikipedia page for Jennifer Yen, and it was rejected due to insufficient sources. Jennifer played Vypra in the Power Rangers. I was looking at the Power Rangers page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_Rangers_Lightspeed_Rescue, and then at another one of the villian's wikipedia page, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Diane_Salinger -- it looks like the page for Diane Salinger has fewer references than the Jennifer Yen submission. Also, her only references are IMDB and her personal website. How did this page get approved, but the one for Jennifer was not? Is there something I should do differently?
Thanks!
Khumpinla (talk) 04:28, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Khumpinla: Hi! Since Wikipedia is a volunteer project, some bad articles tend to slip through the cracks and end up on Wikipedia from time to time. If we were to judge all new content by comparison to existing articles, it could lower the quality of new Wikipedia content. As such, the "what about this other article?" argument doesn't hold much water on Wikipedia. If you're looking for a good article to compare with, you can search through the Featured Articles for inspiration, like James T. Aubrey, for example. I'll take a look at that article you mentioned.
- As for your article, keep on looking for good references! When you feel you've met the notability requirement, feel free to resubmit. Thanks! /wia /talk 11:26, 29 May 2015 (UTC)
Editing on the page typing
Thank you for telling me you don't think the paragraph on "Brady typing" is not appearing constructive to you, but I have to say, just because you don't think is constructive doesn't means it is not to other users. Is not a good thing to let other reader knows that there's such thing on the internet. If you think that part is not constructive, oh boy you have tons and tons of pages that you have to delete, e.g. the page on the M-stock in Hong Kong MTR. Only a tiny tiny amount of people cares about that, but it still exists; on the other hand the word "Brady typing" cares buy thousands and thousands of fans of "Hello Internet", and you don't let it exist. Such logic. Mr Fat Lai (talk) 16:23, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Mr Fat Lai: You will need to find reliable sources for that information, and it will have to achieve consensus before it is added. I've seen similar content removed from that article several times in the past, so it is a contentious issue. Regarding the "what about this other article" point you raise, take a look at WP:WAX, which addresses your concerns. /wia /talk 16:27, 30 May 2015 (UTC)

The page I submitted although the content may appear on the Phoenix Patriot Foundation website, I AUTHORED all of the content on that website. You may, however delete the page as you see fit. Since this is my first stab at Wikipedia I understand the reason why it would be assumed that I did not author the content.

- @AudreyCD: Hi, and thanks for inquiring on my page. Even if you authored the content at the Phoenix Patriot Foundation, it is copyrighted (scroll to the bottom of that site and you will see the copyright notice), meaning the copyright likely belongs to the organization now. Assistance Requested
Thanks for your suggestions regarding my proposed "human excreta" article. For some background, until my proposal, the term "human excreta" was included under the "human waste" article and as a redirect to same. It is crucial to realize, however, that given the reasons I lay out in the article, while they may refer to the same material, their use (as terms) couldn't be more different. IOW one describes a "waste" material while the other describes a "resource". Since "human waste" has its own article I felt it was only right that "human excreta" has its own article as well. Please note that I modestly reworked the article and have added an additional reference (a TedX presentation), the latter of which may assist you in understanding the basis from which I am proposing the article. Now, as far as neutrality goes, I'm unclear how to improve the neutrality of an article that is in effect describing a political (and thus opinionated) concept or, said another way, a politicized term. Therefore, what ever additional assistance you can provide will be most appreciated. Thanks again. Gruster (talk) 17:55, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- @Gruster: Hi, thanks for stopping by. I thought about your draft for a while before reviewing it. It was a tough call. On the one hand, I see how the usage of "waste" is inherently negative, and how some parties are trying to change that perception. But on the other hand, my gut feeling is that this material might fit better in an existing article like sustainable sanitation. What I suggest doing is resubmitting the draft for review. Another AFC reviewer will come along and take a look in the coming days or weeks. I will also ask the denizens of WikiProject Sanitation for comment. Both of these courses of action will bring in fresh pairs of eyes and help us determine the best spot for this content.
- As for the neutrality comment, I think the article looks better now after your revisions. I'll note that sometimes "many" is considered a weasel word since it creates "an impression that something specific and meaningful has been said, when in fact only a vague or ambiguous claim has been communicated". Other than that, I don't see much to worry about on the neutrality front. /wia /talk 18:08, 30 May 2015 (UTC)
- I have added my two-cents worth here. Or perhaps it is better to continue the discussion on the talk page of the article on human waste. EvM-Susana (talk) 20:20, 31 May 2015 (UTC)

Hi there, first, thanks for reviewing my article. I am taking steps to remove buzzwords and promotional language. I am not request a re-review yet until I get some clarification about my references.
You mention in your comments that "the majority of the sources in the references section don't mention SL Corporation by name at all." this may be true if you are just looking at the intro page to the articles, but there is significant coverage of SL in the full articles. But because these references are in analyst reports that require payment to access, you are not getting to the heart of the article.
As wikipedia says that "Sources do not have to be available online ", how can I show that my references are valid? These analyst reports are the most important and notable reference you can get in the tech world.
thanks for any thoughts you can spare on this.
Gfdemarest (talk) 17:21, 1 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Gfdemarest: Hello, thank you for inquiring here! You are correct in that sources need not be available online. However, you do need to provide enough detail so that someone can find them. The solution is to add the link to the actual analyst report, not just to the website's homepage or the introductory page. That way, someone with a subscription can access the report, and they don't have to search around the site to try to locate it themselves.
- Let me know if there's anything else I can do for you. /wia /talk 18:33, 1 June 2015 (UTC)

- Hi, sources behind paywalls are acceptable, although since I don't personally have a subscription, I'm not able to read the article to assess it. The article has been submitted for review so it shouldn't be too long (a few weeks at most) before someone from the AfC project takes a look; I try not to review a draft twice in a row, so as to ensure impartial reviewing. Articles for creation: Erol Erdinç
Hi there!
Thank you for shedding some light on this "not enough inline citations" stuff. To remind what you said:
″There are not enough inline citations in the draft. When you do so, take care that you are using reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. Of the three links listed in your references section, two are from the subject himself (meaning they are not independent) and the third only mentions him in passing. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me on my talk page. Thanks, wia (talk) 02:32, 22 April 2015 (UTC)″
So I have a few questions regarding this:
This person is a musician. I thought that most reliable info must be in his official website and social media accounts. But you say that it is not objective. I'm not sure if I can find published material about a musician (conductor). What kinds of source can I use for reference? Can I use references like news from websites, past facebook events etc.? Can I use these references (news from websites, past facebook events etc.) written in Turkish for this English article?
It is my understanding that he engaged with Russian, French, Italian, Spanish, Brazilian orchestras and maybe there are sources in these languages but I don't understand these languages, so there is a little chance that I can use any source written in these languages. What can I do about this?
Thank you so much for your time.
Nefertura (talk) 22:55, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Nefertura: Hello, and thank you for inquiring on my talk page! Sometimes you can learn true information about people from their social media accounts, yes. But on Wikipedia, information from reliable, independent sources takes preference. You can use any type of reliable source, including reputable news websites! However, Facebook events are generally not considered a reliable source; a good rule of thumb is to avoid relying on things from sites with user-generated content.
- You can also use Turkish-language sources, as long as they are reliable ones. If you think there is a useful source but you don't speak the language, you could try inquiring at the relevant regional notice board. I'm not sure, but it's possible that someone might offer to help if you asked nicely. (I speak English and French, so if you you come across French-language sources, you're welcome to ask me for help.) You can also use Google Translate to help you; I do that sometimes when reviewing articles that have foreign-language sources. I hope this is helpful. Richard A. Kimball, Jr. Draft (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Draft:Richard_A._Kimball,_Jr.)
Hello Wikiisawesom,
I would like to ask as to which particular part of the draft you felt was copied? We'd like to further edit our draft with your guidance.
Thank you!
Itscamilla (talk) 23:29, 2 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Itscamilla: Certainly! There are some very close similarities between the following sections:
- "He also managed the company’s Advisory Board and Customer Excellence Forum and led the company’s first participation at the 2014 HIMSS Conference." Obviously you cannot change the proper nouns, but the sentence form and verb usage felt a little close to me.
- "development of the start up healthcare technology business. HEXL develops population health programs focused on keeping the chronically ill stable, at home and out of the hospital." This is also very similar to the LinkedIn page, aside from a few words you've changed.
- Keep working on the draft, and don't be discouraged if you're asked to make further changes! /wia /talk 23:39, 2 June 2015 (UTC)

Hi. I'd like to request the deletion of the draft for "Holland Electronics". There aren't any good references or sources to justify notability. My mistake for ever getting it started. Sorry. Thanks.

Free Grace Alliance Article
Hi, you declined my submission stating that I need to cite reliable third-party sources that discuss the subject in detail. I found this article in wikipedia about Grace Evangelical Society and noticed that all the references used are also primary sources, not secondary. Can you give suggestions on how I can improve my article and get it published even if the sources are mainly primary? Thanks!

Decline for multiple reasons
Hi Wia, I think it will be useful if there is a feature allowing us to decline a submission for multiple reasons just like we tag articles for speedies with twinkle. I know we can raise the other issues in comment but submitter may not take the comment seriously and may only fix issues, for which the draft was declined, and next time it will get declined anyway, wasting lot of time. What do you think? - Supdiop talk 14:12, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- @Supdiop: Hm, that's not a bad idea! I don't know much about how it could be implemented, but I suggest you mention it at WT:AFCH, which is where we often discuss the Helper Script. See if anyone has any suggestions there about the idea! /wia /talk 15:29, 3 June 2015 (UTC)
- If a subject is not notable and article is written like an advertisement then draft could be declined for notability and advertising. Another example is declining for notability and copyright issues. I'll propose this feature on script's talk page soon. I've gone through the archives but there was no mention of this feature. I think it is a pretty useful feature. Thank you.- Supdiop talk 01:53, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Pyle stops Article
The " Pyle stops" article is a "Things to do / Task Awaiting Attention" in the Portal:Underwater diving.
I developed this article to explain the Pyle Stops, however, Richards Pyle who discovered it by coincidence is not the main subject of the article. You moved this Article to "Richard Pyle's" bio, however, could you please return it back to "Pyle Stops" due to the following reasons:
I wrote some background about "Richard Pyle", necessary enough to build-up progressively the key behind the "Stops" named after him, so that the reader could progressively reach the aim of the article: which is the "Pyle Stops" that he discovered. The short introduction about Richad Pyle is necessary for the reader to know how did he reach such "Deep Stops" and that the reader finds out that the "Pyle Stop" it not based on mathematical model or research, but is a byproduct discovery by Dr. Richards after his research dives. I did not write more about Richard Pyle as a biologist or researcher, which could be a separate long article, but have only wrote what I believe is necessary to clarify the origin of the "Pyle Stops" practice, so divers could make up their minds if they decide to follow it.
I have already contacted Dr. Richard in Hawaii and invited him to review this draft with me. So, again, this article is not about "Richard Pyle", but about the "Stops" he discovered, so please move back this article to "Pyle Stops", instead of "Richard Pyle", and thanks in advance :) Yahia Mokhtar User_talk:Yahia.Mokhtar — Preceding undated comment added 09:41, 4 June 2015 (UTC)
Audiofreund 13:44, 5 June 2015 (UTC)Hi Wikiisawesome, thanks for reading my article about Jochen Sachse. I wrote this article for the german wiki and thought it would be interesting for the english-speaking community, too. In the german wiki, there where no problems regarding the quality or significance of my references. I have spent an hour to find some more links - sadly without success. Just found a german newspaper article which was published on his companys homepage, but that is truly no third-party reference ... Could you, or somebody else of this awesome community, give me some suggestions how to make my article wiki-compatible? I thought about contacting the bands and musicians he worked for in order to get some proofs for his contribution to their work, is that an accepted reference?

Hello- I just wanted to possibly get some tips on how to improve the page I submitted for "Bedgear." I understand that the original version submitted a few months back contained a lot of advertising language and required further references- I'm just curious if there is anything in particular that I can improve upon for a future edit since I added additional references and attempted to keep the tone neutral. I truly appreciate any help that you can provide.
Thank you

Peter Azur
Thank you for your well-reasoned and helpful response. I think we both realize that Azur's contribution to cinematic history ranks somewhat short of stellar. I tend to agree with you on all points you raised, particularly the notability requirement. We'll simply abandon this mini-project unless you can locatelocate an interested third-party. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.102.149.248 (talk • contribs) 17:25, 28 April 2015 (UTC)

- (talk page stalker) You should add reliable sources to the draft. IMBD is not reliable source because it is user generated. You should add published sources like news and books, then it will be accepted. Anyway, you may never see this this comment. Supdiop (Talk🔹Contribs) 21:13, 21 July 2015 (UTC)

20:29:43, 30 September 2015 review of submission by Mbabco
I got to this page by clicking on the "ask the reviewer that declined your submission," Apologies if I should be asking elsewhere.
You rejected the article because of copyright violation(s), which I believe I have fixed.
Before re-submitting, I wanted to make sure that you thought the article met Wikipedia's notability requirements. Most of the article is sourced from one book on the artist: "Susan Seddon Boulet: A Retrospective." I was unable to find very many other citations (just a couple of interviews with the artist, only one of which is available on YouTube at this time).
There have been 4 published books (including the Retrospective book) that are wholly devoted to the artist's art and there are numerous books (7 are cited in the article) that feature her art, including a book by Ursula K. Le Guin. It would seem as if this would make her notable. However, if the article as written does not meet the notability requirements perhaps I should: 1) Not re-submit at this time until more citations are found, or; 2) Re-write and shorten the article focusing more on the content of the 4 published books featuring her art.
Any suggestions will be appreciated. Thank you in advance. Mbabco (talk) 20:29, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
- @Mbabco: Hi, thanks for asking. This is indeed a fine place to ask!
- The copyright issues appear to be resolved. As for notability, my first step in reviewing is to look for copyright issues, so I didn't assess the article for notability. However, a quick look seems to indicate that you've met the general notability criteria, and so I think this artist is notable. I notice that there are not inline citations after some claims about the subject that need to be verified, per Wikipedia's minimum referencing policy. For example, when you say "Throughout the 1970's her themes were largely medieval, fairy tales and fantasy; there were mermaids, musicians, a child in flowers, unicorns, nixies, jesters, knights, kings and queens, colorful processions and black women in Brazilian dress (Bahiana)", this needs an inline citation so as not to look like original research, which is prohibited on Wikipedia.
- I think once you've worked on that, you can try resubmitting the article. As always, if you have further questions, you're welcome to inquire at the AfC Help Desk. /wia /talk 20:40, 30 September 2015 (UTC)
Thanks for the quick response. Much appreciated. Mbabco (talk) 20:44, 30 September 2015 (UTC)

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that when you edited Cheval du Morvan, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Chassy. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Hey there Wikkiawesome, I recently got assigned this page by my boss and have been updating it to the my ability based on your original reasons for declining. Having very little experiences updating and working on articles before it would be a great help to me if you could review it and give me breakdown of the edits I've made so far and what still needs to be done and what I am doing wrong. Thanks for all your help! :)
- @NMazz: First, if you are editing a page as part of your work duties, you need to take a look at the paid-editing disclosure policy on Wikipedia. This is important because it implicates legal policy.
- As for the article, what you generally need to meet is either the general notability criteria or the notability criteria for artists. If you can show either one, then notability will have been demonstrated for the artist. Primary sources, like the artist's own website or social media pages, are not sufficient to show notability. You can use them sparingly, but for notability purposes, you have to find reliable, independent (third-party) sources that discuss the subject in significant detail. Of the non-primary sources you've used, it seems to me that the Discover Jersey Arts is the best of them; the others aren't very useful because they seem to have been written by Wagner himself. (There are "About Me" sections and the like which indicate this.) Discover Jersey Arts is a start, but more will need to be found. If you have further questions, you can always drop by with specific questions at the AfC Help Desk. Thanks! /wia /talk 14:45, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
What would be a reputable company source to cite?
Hi there, thanks for reviewing my page. I am really struggling to get this through review. I have cited Companies House information as a legal, notable source of the companies history but I'm not sure what else I can do to get the page through review! I have never submitted an article to Wikipedia before and finding it quite hard! — Preceding unsigned comment added by PBernfeld (talk • contribs) 15:05, 9 October 2015 (UTC)
- @PBernfeld: Hi, I assume you are talking about User:PBernfeld/sandbox. The problem with the Companies House websites as sources is that they don't offer any substantial coverage of the company. It's just a bit of legal filing information like location, incorporation date and the like. There's no substantial coverage there about Hambro.
- The sorts of references Wikipedia needs to show notability are detailed at WP:CORPDEPTH. Take a look; newspaper or magazine articles about the company and the like are a good place to start. WP:RS is another place to look for general information about reliable sources if you are confused. I took a look myself and didn't see much online that would show notability. However, if you can find some good sources, there is a chance that the article might pass muster.
- If you have further specific questions, you can always ask at the AfC Help Desk. Thanks, /wia /talk 15:10, 9 October 2015 (UTC)

Ricky Martin question
Hi Wikiiaweseome,
If public figures have come out, and identify as LGBT, IMHO this should be noted in the very beginning. It is National Coming Out Day today, and if people have already come out in the media, they should be out on Wikipedia for the new generations of LGBT kids--particularly LGBT kids of color who get even more pressure to stay in the closet--should see this first thing. I do not know if the LGBT Wikipedia group has discussed this issue or not, but I believe it is a worthy discussion to have.
Sincerely, RachelWex — Preceding unsigned comment added by RachelWex (talk • contribs) 15:39, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
- @RachelWex: I agree it is important to note LGBT people who have come out on Wikipedia! However, I'm not sure that the first sentence is the place to put it, per WP:MOSLEAD. However, it is worth having a discussion about. As such, we should follow the "be bold", revert, discuss procedure and talk about it with other editors on the talk page. Thanks! /wia /talk 15:42, 11 October 2015 (UTC)
