Administrators' newsletter – October 2021
[edit]News and updates for administrators from the past month (September 2021).
- Following an RfC, extended confirmed protection may be used preemptively on certain high-risk templates.
- Following a discussion at the Village Pump, there is consensus to treat discord logs the same as IRC logs. This means that discord logs will be oversighted if posted onwiki.
- DiscussionTools has superseded Enterprisey's reply-link script. Editors may switch using the "Discussion tools" checkbox under Preferences → Beta features.
- A motion has standardised the 500/30 (extended confirmed) restrictions placed by the Arbitration Committee. The standardised restriction is now listed in the Arbitration Committee's procedures.
- Following the closure of the Iranian politics case, standard discretionary sanctions are authorized for all edits about, and all pages related to, post-1978 Iranian politics, broadly construed.
- The Arbitration Committee encourages uninvolved administrators to use the discretionary sanctions procedure in topic areas where it is authorised to facilitate consensus in RfCs. This includes, but is not limited to, enforcing sectioned comments, word/diff limits and moratoriums on a particular topic from being brought in an RfC for up to a year.
- Editors have approved expanding the trial of Growth Features from 2% of new accounts to 25%, and the share of newcomers getting mentorship from 2% to 5%. Experienced editors are invited to add themselves to the mentor list.
- The community consultation phase of the 2021 CheckUser and Oversight appointments process is open for editors to provide comments and ask questions to candidates.
Why did you put my page for speedy deletion
[edit]^ Kristoforandchaz (talk) 04:10, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
- Because it is:
- an article about a real person, individual animal, organization (band, club, company, etc.), web content or organized event that does not credibly indicate the importance or significance of the subject. See CSD A7.—
- an article which plainly indicates that the subject was invented/coined/discovered by the article's creator or someone they know personally, and does not credibly indicate why its subject is important or significant. The criterion does not apply to any article that makes any credible claim of significance or importance even if the claim is not supported by a reliable source or does not satisfy Wikipedia's notability guidelines. See CSD A11.
- These same reasons are given on the red CSD box on the article. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk│📝contribs) 04:13, 15 October 2021 (UTC)
I was edit and added our references and Spotify profile by Kaleb J as a singer. How do u think? I hope u can help me for do not deletion or nominate to deleting. Sorr if my english speaking is not good. So, u can help me for my article still on Wikipedia English? Yemimas29 (talk) 00:48, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- You have submitted the draft for review. Drafts are reviewed in no particular order, and it may be some time before they are reviewed by someone. You can only wait for feedback. I am not a reviewer. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk│📝contribs) 02:04, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- re WhoAteMyButter If you are not a reviewer, then why lightly put my article into the draft category? Aren't you the official editor? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Yemimas29 (talk • contribs) 04:40, 29 October 2021 (UTC)
- Nope. There is no such thing as an "official editor". We are all editors here at Wikipedia, and no one holds any power over others in editing. New Page Patrol and AfC are different types of thins. While I'm technically not active in either, I do check new pages often as a sort of "first pass". Anyone can put a new page into draftspace, according to WP:DRAFTIFY. Hello dear User WhoAteMyButter
[edit]You Alredy Deleted the page Maringlen Çika i have created for the artist and musician i provided all infos like cites and sources that are found in google what can we do to add it in english wikipedia? he already have Wikipedia in SQ Albanian Language ofcourse he have all cites with albanian language not in english language i have provided IMDB i have Provided Youtube and Google Knownledge panel for english i think its enough to have an wiki in english page referin to this sources
- IMDB, Youtube, and generated listings like Discogs are not reliable sources. And, I have not deleted it. It has been moved to a draft so you can work on it without interruption; it's current state does not belong in mainspace. You need to find multiple reliable sources with significant coverage. You can cite non-english sources just fine, they still need to meet the criteria. WhoAteMyButter (📨talk│📝contribs) 16:40, 31 October 2021 (UTC)
