A tag has been placed on your user page, User:Whittiertrust, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G11 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the page appears to be blatant advertising which only promotes or publicises a company, product, group or service. This is a violation of our policies regarding acceptable use of user pages — user pages are intended for active editors of Wikipedia to communicate with one another as part of the process of creating encyclopedic content, and should not be mistaken for free webhosting resources or advertising space. Please read the guidelines on spam, the guidelines on user pages, and, especially, our FAQ for Organizations.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason, you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. However, be aware that once a page is tagged for speedy deletion, it may be removed without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, and you wish to retrieve the deleted material for future reference or improvement, then please contact the deleting administrator. — fortunavelut luna 17:33, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Contested deletion

[edit]

This page is not unambiguously promotional, because... (This is our first time using Wikipedia, we are trying to understand how to use it. This will not be promotional, only informational to know how the firm started. I also wanted to see if we can change the username to Whittier Trust. I wasn't aware that the username when we log in was the name of the page.) --Whittier Trust 18:31, 26 July 2017 (UTC)

Blocked

[edit]
Your account has been blocked from editing Wikipedia with this username. This is because your username, Whittiertrust, does not meet our username policy.

Your username is the only reason for this block. You are welcome to choose a new username (see below) and continue editing.

A username should not be promotional, related to a "real-world" group or organization, misleading, offensive or disruptive. Also, usernames may not end in the word "bot" unless the account is an approved bot account

You are encouraged to choose a new account name that meets our policy guidelines and create the account yourself. Alternatively, if you have already made edits and you wish to keep your existing contributions under a new name, then you may request a change in username by:

  1. Adding {{unblock-un|your new username here}} on your user talk page. You should be able to do this even though you are blocked, as you can usually still edit your own talk page. If not, you may wish to contact the blocking administrator by clicking on "Email this user" on their talk page.
  2. At an administrator's discretion, you may be unblocked for 24 hours to file a request.
  3. Please note that you may only request a name that is not already in use, so please check here for a listing of already taken names. The account is created upon acceptance, thus do not try to create the new account before making the request for a name change. For more information, please see Wikipedia:Changing username.
If you think that you were blocked in error, you may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|Your reason here}} on your user talk page, but you should read our guide to appealing blocks first. Malinaccier (talk) 18:36, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
This user's request to be unblocked to request a change in username has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without a good reason (see the blocking policy). Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

Decline reason:

That username is just as inappropriate. Yamla (talk) 19:35, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
You cannot request a username that represents your business, except if you include an individual name as part of it (e.g. John at Whittier Trust). Accounts can only be used be one individual and never shared with another person.
Also, please know that writing about your own company is a conflict of interest and should be avoided. Your company also needs to be sufficiently notable per Wikipedia's inclusion criteria for an article about it to be accepted. It must have already received significant coverage in reliable, independent sources to be considered worthy of inclusion. --Drm310 🍁 (talk) 20:55, 26 July 2017 (UTC)[reply]
