Hello, WhitleyTucker and welcome to Wikipedia! It appears you are participating in a class project. We encourage you to read our instructions for students. I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on talk pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. If you need help, check out Wikipedia:Questions, ask me on my talk page, or ask your question on this page and then place {{Helpme}} before the question.

Before you create an article, make sure you understand what kind of articles are accepted here. Remember: Wikipedia is an encyclopedia, and while many topics are encyclopedic, some things are not.

It is highly recommended that you place this text: {{Educational assignment}} on the talk page of any articles you are working on as part of your Wikipedia-related course assignment. This will let other editors know this article is a subject of an educational assignment and should be treated accordingly.

We hope you like it here and encourage you to stay even after your assignment is finished! Pharaoh of the Wizards (talk) 07:49, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Wanted to add my Welcome and to also mention that when you post on a talk page or add a section, you need to post at the bottom...posts are in order of the oldest posts being at the top of the page. Have fun, Shearonink (talk) 20:10, 25 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Good Articles

[edit]

Hi Whitley, I think you need to read this, and bear in mind that you will be expected to fix any problems that arise during the GAN process Jimfbleak - talk to me? 11:37, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, I have read the Good Article nomination criteria and how to nominate it. Also, I continue to check it as I go through the process of nominating certain articles, because wikipedia in general is just very new to me. I am working to ensure that I follow all of the guidelines. The nomination page did not specify that, as a nominator, I am expected to address the suggested changes. Is this specific to the WikiProject Bird criteria for GA nominators? WhitleyTucker (talk) 11:46, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Don't worry, I've been editing for nine years, and I'm still learning stuff. When you nominate an article for GA, it's just conceivable that it might be passed without question. It's much more likely that the reviewer will have suggestions or comments. As the nominator, the expectation is that you will deal with them, if no-one does, the article will fail. If you are lucky you get this, if you are unlucky, or indicate a wish to take it to FAC eventually, you get this current GAN. If you nominate an article you haven't significantly edited, you should also notify the main editors of your intention if possible. I'll keep an eye on Pied Fly, let me know if there is anything specific I can do to help Jimfbleak - talk to me? 13:19, 27 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Class project for Europe

[edit]

Another editor removed your class note on Talk:Europe, noting in the article reverts that the edits were too specific. Why not use Fauna of Europe as a class project? It would perhaps be better for a behavioural ecology course. Cheers, CMD (talk) 00:41, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

That's a much better suggestion! I will go ahead and do that. WhitleyTucker (talk) 03:23, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Your GAN

[edit]

Hi, WhitleyTucker! I have just started reviewing your GA nominated article Northern Mockingbird. I have left preliminary comments, please reply to them quickly. Overall I think the article is in good shape, still there are some blemishes. Cheers! Sainsf <^>Talk all words 10:16, 28 November 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, but I wish you turn up quickly. I do wish to have your replies soon. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 07:38, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sainsf,

I actually replied a while ago that I will get to the changes asap. I am in the middle of preparing for a few exams and papers and gathering more info for 2 other wikipedia pages, so I will likely get to the changes the week December 9th. Sorry for the mixup. As I said, I replied to your original post, but that reply seems to have been deleted. Thank you, though, for your patience. WhitleyTucker (talk) 08:29, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, sorry for disturbing. Fine, if you are busy then I am ready to wait. But great if you turn up in a week. Good luck, Sainsf <^>Talk all words 12:20, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Sainsf,

Thanks for understanding, and there's no disturbing. I just wanted to let you know why it would take some time before I saw to the corrections. Best, WhitleyTucker (talk) 20:36, 2 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. Wikipedia appreciates your help. We noticed though that you've added some links pointing to disambiguation pages. Such links are almost always unintended, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of "Did you mean..." article titles. Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.

Greetings, WhitleyTucker! I just wanted to let you know that I will be reviewing your GA nominations for New World vulture and Procellariiformes. I'll leave a link to the review pages here and here, for reference. Good luck! :) Like my singing? Ha-la-la-la-la-la-LA-LAAA!!! (talk) 14:48, 13 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you! WhitleyTucker (talk) 21:25, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hi WhitleyTucker! Just to tell you that your colleagues have helped much with the GA review and now only some issues are left. As you are the nominator, I thought it well to notify you about this. Could you turn up there? Sorry if I disturbed you during your exams. Sainsf <^>Talk all words 12:36, 18 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for the heads up! I am actually working on it today. I am glad to hear this. WhitleyTucker (talk) 21:26, 19 December 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WhitleyTucker! Ten days and there has been no more response after you worked on it. Could you fix the one remaining issue- that is of some unsourced lines- as soon as you can? Sainsf <^>Talk all words 04:46, 1 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hello WhitleyTucker. It has been over six months since you last edited your WP:AFC draft article submission, entitled "Ann V. Hedrick".

The page will shortly be deleted. If you plan on editing the page to address the issues raised when it was declined and resubmit it, simply edit the submission and remove the {{db-afc}} or {{db-g13}} code. Please note that Articles for Creation is not for indefinite hosting of material deemed unsuitable for the encyclopedia mainspace.

If your submission has already been deleted by the time you get there, and you want to retrieve it, copy this code: {{subst:Refund/G13|Wikipedia talk:Articles for creation/Ann V. Hedrick}}, paste it in the edit box at this link, click "Save", and an administrator will in most cases undelete the submission.

Thanks for your submission to Wikipedia, and happy editing. HasteurBot (talk) 12:02, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]
