Delete a page for me?

[edit]

Hi WAM!

I think you have the permission? If so, could you delete User:Dawnleelynn/Sandbox 2 for me? Thanks! If not, I'll montanabw. Hope you had a great holiday weekend with friends and fowl. hmm, p.s. Am I allowed to delete pages in my user space? dawnleelynn(talk) 04:15, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry, there's no deletion permission given; you have to be an admin to delete stuff, so Montanabw can't do it either. (The permissions I do have are rollback, autopatrol and page patrol). You can request a deletion though, by adding the G7 template to the top of the page. That'll make it show up in a list of pages that their authors have requested deletion of. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:26, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for letting me know. It's good to know how I can get it done in the future. I can't get that link to work in the browser anymore, though. So, I don't think there's a page to delete or I did not copy it correctly. It's now out there in la la land perhaps. haha :) Everyday I learn more about Wikipedia. I learned about 3 new templates today, one from you and two from Brianehe. Enjoy your evening! thank again. dawnleelynn(talk) 23:59, 2 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Billie Nipper

[edit]

Hi there, I'm pleased to inform you that I've begun reviewing the article Billie Nipper you nominated for GA-status according to the criteria. This process may take up to 7 days. Feel free to contact me with any questions or comments you might have during this period. Message delivered by Legobot, on behalf of 凰兰时罗 -- 凰兰时罗 (talk) 22:21, 4 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

You could add a gallery, even though the con with that is that it adds a bunch of white space lol. Happy editing! WikiOriginal-9 (talk) 19:23, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

WikiOriginal-9, I thought they didn't like galleries in articles? Anyway, I think there must be some way of formatting the pictures so they don't look weird. It's a relief to me to have good pictures for one article at least; on most of them I've done there are no decent free pictures available. Those got uploaded during the FAC. Somebody saw them online and emailed the author, who agreed to release them to Commons. White Arabian Filly Neigh 19:32, 7 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
I'm not sure what they like. And I was just making a drive-by edit. You can format the pictures however you wish. Yh, pictures are hard to come by most of the time. And those ones are probably more of a positive down the side or whatever than not having them at all. Readers don't really care about the specific formatting that much. Hi White Arabian Filly, Curdigirl here. Thanks for the warm welcome! Glad to be on Wikipedia as a volunteer and even happier to find the Equine Project! I just took a quick stroll through your talk page and smiled real big and broad. I grew up in the city and am a country girl at heart; never able to have the kinds of animals you have on the farm. My horse fever started young and I pursued it via: books; movies; Girl Scouts horseback riding camps; horseback riding lessons (begging my mom to let me); Breyer model horses; drawing horses; horse magazines; friends who also loved horses but didn't have them and on the list goes. During family vacations to Wisconsin, I'd look for a stable and offer my stable mucking & grooming services for free in order to ride. Now I'm all grown up and still live "in the city" with hopes of moving out, closer to the possibility of being near horses. This is a start! And I have personally found that horse people are some of the best people. So, I hope to be of use around here, mucking out some articles and grooming others. Glad to see you here. We have a lot of articles that are not in great shape or are too short, so feel free to expand or cleanup as needed. I've lived in the country my entire life and had animals, but couldn't have a horse till I was 16 and could take care of it myself. Here on Wikipedia, I tend to focus on horses and horse trainers but sometimes do other things like Montana Silversmiths. White Arabian Filly Neigh 16:29, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Userboxes I created

[edit]

Hello, hoping you are having a good week so far. I spent some time this weekend teaching myself how to create Userboxes. I created two new ones. I looked at your page where you have the ones you created for starters. Also looked at some other good help pages. I noticed that you belong to WikiProject Userboxes. So, if you don't mind taking a look at mine to see if they adhere to good practices, that would be great. Better to start off right at the beginning and not start any bad habits. No rush though. I made sure to use images that were free in Wikipedia Commons, in fact, I struggled a little to get images to work at first. They aren't going anywhere. My page is here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:Dawnleelynn/UserBoxes_I_Created dawnleelynn(talk) 04:14, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

They look good to me. The main thing they want us to watch out for is color contrast, making sure the text contrasts with the background so people with eye problems can read it. Yours look fine to me. White Arabian Filly Neigh 16:33, 10 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
Thanks for checking them over. Yes, I will have to watch the colors. The colors I used on these two I just created were to match the colors of the organizations. So, yes, I may run into an instance where the colors of the theme I am trying to match are an issue. Good advice! :) dawnleelynn(talk) 00:04, 11 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Your GA nomination of Billie Nipper

[edit]

The article Billie Nipper you nominated as a good article has passed ; see Talk:Billie Nipper for comments about the article. Well done! If the article has not already been on the main page as an "In the news" or "Did you know" item, you can nominate it to appear in Did you know. Feist

[edit]

What are your qualifications on Feist dogs. I have hunted & raised them for years. I am a NKC breed inspector. The descriptions given here would not qualify to register a dog as a Feist. One pic shows a rough coated dog of unknown origin. My changes where correct. RTV67 (talk) 06:14, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

RTV67, I've owned Rat Terriers for years (and had them mistaken for everything from Fox Terriers to Blue Heelers--don't know what was up with that one.) Looking at your recent changes, I now agree with them. The rough-coated dog was probably a crossbreed and doesn't belong on an article about a pure breed. As for descriptions, the biggest problem is that the article has no references. If you want to improve it, you can reference the official breed standards and books about the breed. A few more things to remember:
  1. Dog breed names are capitalized, but general types like terrier are not.
  2. Original research can't be used. Everything you write has to be written somewhere else first for Wikipedia purposes. NKC and UKC standards and literature are a good source.
  3. No need for references in the lead, as it's supposed to be the summary of the rest of the article.
  4. You can look at the better dog breed articles, like Pembroke Welsh Corgi to get an idea of how articles can be structured. White Arabian Filly Neigh 22:59, 16 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't trying to write the information. Only correct the misinformation and repeated descriptions. The dog in the pic would mot pass NKC inspection. Problem with this breed is generalities and misinformed owners. RTV67 (talk) 07:14, 17 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
