Mississippi State Penitentiary

Hello. I see you put a lot of work to the article. If you'd be interested, I can send you the full "The Conjugal Visit at Mississippi State Penitentiary" journal article, which is cited there. The article is quite interesting. - Darwinek (talk) 08:45, 28 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Where can I send it? It's in pdf format. - Darwinek (talk) 19:54, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Opinions

Just because they meet WP:V does not mean that they are appropriate for inclusion. Bill Briggs appears to be some sort of infrequent op-ed writer and should be identified as such; the way the article puts it right now it appears that he was an anchor making an off-the-cuff remark. Also, this discussion should be happening at the article's talk page, not our individual talk pages. — e. ripley\talk 17:58, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks. Frankly, the gathered info you've inserted re: individual flight attendants' opinions appears to me to skirt dangerously close to WP:SYN. If something like, say, the Association of Flight Attendants made remarks along these lines, to me that would be grounds for inclusion. Otherwise we're just gathering 2-3 opinions and structuring them in such a way that it's presented as a trend (under "broader implications," no less), which I think isn't appropriate. — e. ripley\talk 18:09, 29 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re:Spanish Wikipedia

Anything that I don't like about the English Wikipedia is maximized on the Spanish one. I very much dislike it, sorry. Feedback 00:15, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

You hit the nail there. Its the lack of consistency/organization which leads to lack of communication. Also, a lot of the rules in the English Wikipedia are basically dubbed into the Spanish one without people noticing that they should be treated differently. The Spanish language is different, it needs its own manual of style, and even though it has it, its still a little awkward for me. Feedback 02:13, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Well, the day that that actually happens, then yeah, I'd join. If you ever decide on creating a movement or need any help to make this happen, then count me in. Feedback 02:48, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Matsuyama Airi

I notice that Matsuyama Airi exists, but you had Airi Matsuyama deleted due to R3. I would have deleted "Matsuyama Airi" due to R3, but it is no longer recently created, so I think it no longer qualifies for R3 and needs to go to redirects for discussion. What do you think? WhisperToMe (talk) 19:46, 8 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I deleted that over a year ago... if you think a redirect is needed there, go ahead and make it, there's no need to have it officially undeleted. Hersfold (t/a/c) 18:37, 31 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Metro Building

Good morning; Just wanted to mention that having vacant floors isn't really an issue as most buildings that are occupied by single occupants have empty floors for a variety of reasons but are generally used as furniture and cubicle storage. Occasionally, they're used for screaming in by various employees who had a rough day. Screaming therapy is your friend. :) Just wanted to mention it instead of outright deleting your entry. It seems that Greneas should already know this and is simply making a mountain from a mole hill. Cheers! --Hourick (talk) 12:02, 1 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Point being is that it really isn't something that is unusual, but something that is quite common and doesn't really warrant mentioning. --Hourick (talk) 03:31, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Having been in enough buildings in this city, its akin to pointing out to people that you had a flat because you you driving down a path of nails. Anyone who has been working in a downtown (or highrise) office would know it's not unusual at all. They are only mentioning it to say it's "Waste" when in reality the entire building is being "charged" anyway and could simply be a place for them to "expand to" as space is needed. --Hourick (talk) 03:53, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Greneas is simply trying to point out "waste" in which there is none. The building was only built a few years ago and it would have been irresponsible for Metro to build such a facility with no room for expansion as METRO grows. I happen to know a couple of people that work in the building, so give me a couple of days go ferret out the truth about it. I wouldn't be surprised if people get pushed in there as the Metrorail control room grows. --Hourick (talk) 04:05, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Then we have a problem. Most sources that I know are basically unreferenced, which I cannot use or reveal on Wiki or any of the other local systems I'm on. Sometimes you basically have know to trust the source you're getting information on. sorta' like that with the Discovery Tower article. They claim it's finished, but I drove by and it's not and I KNOW it won't be occupied until next year. Just give me a few days...maybe more because I just realized a holiday is coming up. Maybe next week. --Hourick (talk) 04:23, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I understand WP:V, but there is also a bit of knowing when the press is being played, in which is happening in this instance and self censorship would be valuable. I can give you examples, but none can be verified, but a good example would be the Bechtel tower that is located at 3000 South post oak. They rented out the entire building (and parts of it's neighbors at 3050 and 3025), but when business started getting slow, they contracted from 18 storey's and 5 in other buildings, down to 14 total. They didn't want to lease out the empty floors because they "MIGHT" suddenly need them, and a couple of years later, that was true, the building filled up again, with the exception of one floor. Which was referred to as the screaming floor by most employees. When I asked building management about this odd (to me) situation, they simply stated that it was a common occurrence where a single major tenant "owns" the building. This isn't about verifying something that's contradicts what's there, but rather, whether it should be included to begin with because it fits someone else's agenda.

In that case, I thought I played it quite fair with the "Buy america" section in Metrorail in playing into neither side of the issue. --Hourick (talk) 04:40, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Possibly, but highly doubtful. I have been on jobs (as you surely have experienced) in which there are things that are not documented because they are different procedures for a different situation and experience. At one point, I can tell the difference of three identical pieces of material by chewing on it and not only tell the differences of between the three, but which two were made by a different manufacture of two items of the exact same chemical compound! --Hourick (talk) 15:38, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have already tried that in relation on other articles, in particular HPD, HFD, and Metro. They refer that I can get the information via the freedom of information act, but then that would be dealing with WP:OR. I have some AWESOME info about metro rail, but I can't publish it because it falls under that. --Hourick (talk) 16:53, 2 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The Chicago law firm Rapoport has this listed as the 6th case on their case history page (http://www.rapoportlaw.com/index.cfm/fa/cases.home/clients.cfm). Regarding compensation, the Rapoport writeup states, "While the terms of each individual settlement cannot be disclosed because of confidentiality agreements, the aggregate amount of the payments to the firm’s clients exceeded $13 million."

Enslaving students :)

A couple of years ago, I had two classes of advanced English students in Toluca, Mexico write articles for WP. Im going to do this again, this time with my Business English class, with an eye on having them write a B class (minimum) article as their final project. The last time I did this, I was a relative newbie on WP, and I went around willy nilly looking for folks to help out the class as mentors, especially in wiki-tasks like wikifying, categorizing, etc. as I have limited time to teach wiki skills. I would, of course, teach the academic English skills and citation. Might you be interested in helping out and/or spreading the word that I need mentors for my students? I'll have them look for mentors themselves (gotta remember to find the newbie pages), but any head start would be great due to the semester calendar.Thelmadatter (talk) 21:00, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for helping out! As I teach an English class, principally, their work on WP needs to relate to that. I may have them do a translation English to Spanish of a short article, if there is time. I will introduce them to the concept of working in WP today in class and have them start their userpages. My school is now listed in WP:SUP as Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education, Mexico City.Thelmadatter (talk) 11:53, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Separate Article for Spanish Inquisition

Hey, man. I signed up for the project already, thanks. I was looking through articles and I came across the Spanish Inquisition article. I read it and was unable to find any mention of the Tribunal of the Holy Office in New Spain (guess that fits under WikiProject Mexico's jurisdiction). There isn't an article for it and I believe it is relevant to have an article for it. I am currently studying about colonial times and I could write it, it would take time though. Please let me know what you think and any tips you might want to offer me. RRV56 (talk) 21:09, 6 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

L.A. area cities climate

I'm really questioning if an area of a few square miles in a large metropolitan area, no matter if it is a city or just a district (e.g. of the city of L.A.) deserves a paragraph on its climate. The huge problem is that people think The Weather Channel or other similar websites are authoritative, but weather.com will give you climate and even current observation for every ZIP code--not the closest weather station but interpolated values! I think I can accept a chart of a nearby station (which for Redondo Beach would be LAX or Torrance, if labeled as such), but describing the record highs and record lows and copying and pasting the same "usual temperatures" over many different L.A. County cities are so inappropriate. (California is so different from the Gulf Coast or the East Coast. Driving on the I-405 from Sherman Oaks to Santa Monica [15 minutes] last week could cool you down from 105°F to 60°F.) HkCaGu (talk) 05:38, 7 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I'm so sorry I took so long to reply. I totally missed your posting on my discussion page. I guess because it came in about the same time as another post and I didn't realize it was new, so thought I had already read it. I would be happy to try and fulfill any photo requests you might have. Let me know what you are looking for. Again, I am sorry I missed this for so long. I probably will not be heading to West Texas or up toward Tennessee Colony in the foreseeable future. I want to go to East Texas soon (maybe next few weeks) and can catch Huntsville and West Livingston area then hopefully toward Gatesville awhile after that but nothing firm. Greetings from Paris

Hi,
I uploaded File:Aeroports_de_Paris_HQ.jpg to english wikipedia (recent building), and I updated Aéroports_de_Paris. Can you check that everything is OK.
I have a photo of 27-29 rue Letellier and another one of 31 rue Letellier. Modern and very ordinary buildings. I did not see any trace of Café Brazza. Are you sure of the address ? Do you want that I upload one or the other ? --Tangopaso (talk) 22:26, 13 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
I uploaded File:Credit_Agricole_HQ.jpg and File:France-Telecom_HQ.jpg to english wikipedia (recent buildings). Can you check the articles that I updated too.
About rue Letellier, I think that the buildings were rebuilt these last years. At the #27-29 or #31, there are ordinary and recent (20-30 years ?) buildings. 6 floors. No plaque, no trace of Café Brazza. I think that they were rebuilt since Pol Pot lived here. Red Khmers won in Cambodia in 1975 (I remember...). I think that it is not appropriate to upload them.--Tangopaso (talk) 19:00, 16 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Hi,
I uploaded File:Eurazeo_HQ.jpg and File:Sanofi_HQ.jpg to english wikipedia (recent buildings). Can you check the articles that I updated too.
I also uploaded fr:File:Siège_Accenture-France.jpg to french wikipedia (recent building). But it is only the HQ of the french subsidiary.
Now, days are shorter. Perhaps that I will upload next images only next spring. But I will not forget.--Tangopaso (talk) 19:35, 28 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I've found a problem, and don't have time to deal with it properly. In 2005, User:Xamien added a large quantity of almost verbatim-copied text to Berkeley Breathed (copied from http://www.berkeleybreathed.com/pages/About.asp ) Currently, the majority of the text still has the same basic wording. It needs to be either purged or (preferably) rewritten, but I'm not sure whether all the old diffs that include the copyvio needed to be deleted? Wikipedia:Copyright problems has some instructions and options, but I'm overwhelmed with other projects this week. Would you care to add this to your to-do list, or should I seek a noticeboard to delegate the task to? Much thanks. -- Quiddity (talk) 18:40, 20 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hmm, good point. I can find thumbnails of their mainpage going back to 2004, but no details on what the "about" page contained back then.
AHA! archive.org secret interface?! He appears to have copied our content on May 21 2007 (see Berkeley Breathed diff from May 18 2007). So that's settled. (Although, do we need to prod them to give us proper credit? I'll note the copy on our talkpage, but I definitely don't have time to investigate how to properly phrase an email to their webmaster...)
(The link you gave for archive.org is indeed giving an error message, and I have my own bookmarklet which gave the same results, but this link works, for some reason?!? I found it via this incredibly useful place, which I've used for years: http://www.faganfinder.com/urlinfo/
Thank you, thank you, for prodding our collaboration in the right direction! -- Quiddity (talk) 03:58, 21 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I am guessing they are still confused that the holding company is the same thing as the airline. Thanks! Snoozlepet (talk) 04:12, 4 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

AA, BA, IB transatlantic alliance

Hey! These airlines recently announced new routes in regards to their alliance (http://finance.yahoo.com/news/American-Airlines-British-prnews-3291587913.html?x=0&.v=2). However, some users have been adding them as new routes but these airlines have not announced anything specific yet (e.g. dates, schedules, etc.). Can you please keep an eye on it. Thanks! Hi, I'm aware putting some typo-redirects on pages is common practice. However, are you sure you didn't go overboard a bit with this one? Maybe you meant Mississippi State Peniteniary? (You might move it there.) 2 typos in one redirect seems a bit much to me, or is there a specific reason for this one? (BTW: Impressive article.) This is an automated message from CorenSearchBot. I have performed a web search with the contents of William E. Donaldson Correctional Facility, and it appears to include material copied directly from http://prisonplace.com/forums/t/111.aspx.

It is possible that the bot is confused and found similarity where none actually exists. If that is the case, you can remove the tag from the article. The article will be reviewed to determine if there are any copyright issues.

If substantial content is duplicated and it is not public domain or available under a compatible license, it will be deleted. I have blanked most of this article as a continuing close paraphrase copyright violation, as most of it still followed the source closely in both language and structure. As such it needs to be rewritten further (preferably from scratch). VernoWhitney (talk) 22:57, 9 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Image requests

Regarding this, I'm not convinced that because some Japanese are tourists in Hawaii means we should be requesting images from them. For example, Canadians in great numbers visit Hawaii from December to April. Should we also request from that board? I don't think blanket generalizations like this are helpful and I'm inclined to remove it. Viriditas (talk) 06:44, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Why should I or anyone else go beyond WikiProject Hawaii to request an image? Your own personal obsession with fulfilling an image request does not cross over to other people. Most editors will not go beyond the project or free image sites like flickr. If you want to give people pointers, make a note on the project talk page and try to get a discussion going. Viriditas (talk) 06:59, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Please refactor your discussion proposal on the WikiProject Hawaii talk page, and propose it as if our discussion never took place. I have no conceivable idea why you would try to continue this discussion on the project page. The whole point of using the project page to make your proposal is to appeal to a wider group of people. I do not understand you. Please leave me out of it. Viriditas (talk) 07:08, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Look, I've noticed that you and I cannot communicate. This is not a one time event. This is something that occurs whenever you and I interact. For that reason, it is best if we ignore each other. Thanks. Viriditas (talk) 07:10, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Alright. After a discussion with a third party I now realize I probably should have posted my request on the talk page. But I don't understand your other objections. I don't understand the problem. I feel like I do "get it." I also think it is best that we don't talk to each other. WhisperToMe (talk) 08:12, 10 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for your contributions to Wikipedia. Before saving your changes to an article, please provide an edit summary, which you forgot to do before saving your recent edit to Strategy game. Doing so helps everyone to understand the intention of your edit (and prevents legitimate edits from being mistaken for vandalism). It is also helpful to users reading the edit history of the page. Thank you. Trafford09 (talk) 09:47, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi! I do try to include edit summaries with edits, especially when they are major, possibly controversial, and/or if I want to emphasize a point to other editors.
However regarding the "rules are rules" point that you posted on another person's talk page, it's not a "rule" that edit summaries are always required. :Help:Edit_summary#Always_provide_an_edit_summary is an information page, not a policy page. It is best to include edit summaries, and especially so when edits are major or controversial, but it's not a hard and fast rule. It's more like a judgment call.
WhisperToMe (talk) 09:52, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. Well, call it best practice, call it consensus, but it seems to me that one has a judgment call to choose between either

  • setting the help:minor edit flag, or
  • supplying an ES - but to eschew both - as you often have today - may be disparaged.

This seems to fit with one of the TOTDs which talks about helping others:

Tip of the day...

Please summarize your work using the Edit summary box

If you make anything other than a minor edit to an article, it helps others if you fill in the edit summary. Edit summaries are visible in the page history, watchlists, and on Recent changes, so they help other users keep track of what is happening to a page.

If you use section editing, the summary box is filled in with the section heading by default (in gray text), which you can follow with more detail. You also can put links to articles in the edit summary. Just put double brackets around [[the article title]] like you would normally. The summary is limited to 255 characters, so many people use common abbreviations, such as sp for correcting spelling mistakes, rm for remove, ce for copy-edit, etc.

Read more:

The full text of the section you quoted is of course "It is considered good practice to always provide an edit summary, but it is especially important when reverting the actions of other editors, or if you delete any text; otherwise, people may question your motives for the edit. Accurate summaries help other editors decide whether it is worthwhile for them to check a change, and to understand it if they choose to check it. Summaries are less essential for "minor changes", but a summary like "fixed spelling" is helpful even then.".

I feel it be helpful in general if all editors tried to remember to follow what is considered good practice.

If you care to reply here - to keep our discussion in one place, I'll keep an eye on your page. Trafford09 (talk) 10:26, 18 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Parchman Farm

First of all, that edit was quite some time ago, so why bring this issue up now? But, as to the matter, I think the images are appropriate for an article about the farm itself, not the song, which is a very short article anyway. Hi, may I suggest a direction for improving the article for Government of Guam? It is really a pity to have the executive agencies (the bulk of the government) sunk to a lowly spot in the bottom, but until it is a more complete listing, it is destined to remain there. If this is the first article that you have created, you may want to read the guide to writing your first article.

You may want to consider using the Article Wizard to help you create articles.

A tag has been placed on Black Oak Mine Unified School District requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about about a person, organization (band, club, company, etc.) or web content, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding {{hang on}} to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion, or "db", tag; if no such tag exists, then the page is no longer a speedy delete candidate and adding a hang-on tag is unnecessary), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the page meets the criterion, it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the page that would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If the page is deleted, you can contact one of these administrators to request that the administrator userfy the page or email a copy to you. -Vaarsivius (Talk to me.) 06:33, 27 October 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Using Welcome template

Thank you for welcoming new users. Please may I mention a couple of small points, though.

  • There's maybe a fault in the {{Welcome}} template, in that its text refers to 'my talk page', but it lacks a signature.
  • Nor does it add a section header, resulting in the user's wp:TOC being permanently further down the page than it needs be (making later sections a tad harder to read). (However, {{welcome2}} cures this problem.)
  • The documentation asks us:"Please always substitute this template by using {{subst:welcome2}} instead of {{welcome2}}". (I'm not sure why. Would you know? I use Twinkle.)
  • The alternative {{Welcome-anon}} is available for anonymous (IP) editors.

The articles involved are airline alliances, such as SkyTeam, Oneworld and Star Alliance. He will be improving and expanding shoe and clothes manufacturing companies, namely Puma AG, Addidas and Nike, Inc.. Airline articles will also be edited, along with Australian rules football and related clubs. You do not need to know these subjects; but you could help

  • copyedit the articles, as well as improving the English in the involved further.
  • format the references by inserting citation templates. Please go to WP:CITET, or go to his contributions page to see how he has been carrying out this job.

  • merge and tighten paragraphs. Since there are numerous one- and two-sentence paragraphs, merging these together helps editors afterwards add information.
  • wikification.

*****Please disregard the following section if you are busy. Only concentrate on the jobs above.*****

If you have time, you could further help by:

  • bringing together quotes regarding those who direct or hold significant relationships with organisations such as Greenpeace, SkyTeam, Oneworld, Star Alliance, Puma AG, Adidas, Nike, Inc. and Australian rules football/soccer clubs.
  • finding press releases, news articles, etc. for Star Alliance and Vietnam Airlines, which don’t have a lot of information during their early days.

There was no Sonic game on the SNES

While all contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, content or articles may be deleted for any of several reasons.

You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated}} notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the article's talk page.

Please consider improving the article to address the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated}} will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. The speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and articles for deletion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. Ost (talk) 15:23, 10 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

List of characters in Scott Pilgrim

I hate to bring this up because what you're adding is good content, but is it supposed to be on List of Scott Pilgrim characters? The page is part of WikiProject Comics and deals with the characters in the comic series, not the characters in the movie. Currently, the character descriptions for Scott Pilgrim, Ramona Flowers, Julie Powers, and Knives Chow are nearly half filled with content discussing the movie character and filming background. That all seems to be content that would be more appropriate for the production section in Scott Pilgrim (film), but not on a page dedicated specifically to the characters as they appear in the comics. Likewise, the content about background doesn't contribute much of anything to the entry on the fictional characters themselves (such as Wong using a harness or Winstead finding the movie to be like a kung fu film). It's all great content for the film adaptation, but doesn't seem to be correctly placed here. I believe in a link you posted on the discussion page, O'Malley also stated that these things weren't canon because they never appeared in the comics, further separating movie character details things like the "secrets" from having impact on the comic versions. What do you think?Luminum (talk) 14:05, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Karakuridoji Ultimo

Salut, WhisperToMe. Responding to your comment, I have read the series Karakuridôji Ultimo presently up to chapter 17 (excluding the Ulates). I am aware that all characters in the series thus far have referred to Makoto Sayama as "Sayama." However, I push using characters' given names in the article because an in-universe description may arise from following the characters' name usage conventions. If you feel that using "Sayama" would have better use in the article, I will not argue with it since both are correct. Spindori (talk) 21:18, 11 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Gay Cartoons

Why are you so obsessed with this? Are you JP Dennis? Do you have some relationship to him? It seems odd to me that you think because of one man's opinion in a small, unknown paper, you think cartoon icons like Scoody Doo and Yogi Bear deserve to have sections regarding their potential homosexuality (essentially, sections on JP Dennis). As I said, this is one man's opinion in a small magazine, 'peer reviewed', according to their own site, by just 2 other people; also, they accept 15% of submissions, meaning almost anyone could get published after a few tries. Wikipedia Ambassador Program in Houston

Hi! I'm leaving you this message because you're listed as a Wikipedian from Houston. The Wikipedia Ambassador Program is currently looking for Campus Ambassadors from the Houston area, to help with Wikipedia assignments at Texas Southern University. Classes at TSU will be participating in the Public Policy Initiative for the Spring 2011 semester, and the role of Campus Ambassadors will be to provide face-to-face training and support for students on Wikipedia-related skills (how to edit articles, how to add references, etc.). This includes doing in-class presentations, running workshops and labs, possibly holding office hours, and in general providing in-person mentorship for students.

Prior Wikipedia skills are not required for the role, as training will be provided for all Campus Ambassadors (although, of course, being an experienced editor is a plus).

If you are interested in being a Wikipedia Campus Ambassador, or know someone in Houston who might be, please email me or leave a message on my talk page. Thanks!--Sage Ross - Online Facilitator, Wikimedia Foundation (talk) 19:56, 1 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

School Notability

RE: Kantipur English High School FYI - " A single independent source is almost never sufficient for demonstrating the notability of an organization.". I know school Notability has been waving back and forth for a while. Currently a primary source is not sufficient, I am not planning to take it to AFD, just wanted you to know. Jeepday (talk) 14:34, 5 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

nope, I try to follow upon all school articles, and school notability has not been wavering back and forth--it is two or three years since any article for a real secondary school was deleted if the basic material could be verified, and currently a primary source is indeed sufficient for that. One gets brought to AfD every few months by someone who does not realize this, and for years now it has always been strongly confirmed. Of course, additional sourcing is a very good idea, & if you are working on such an article you schould make a seriosu search for references--the school librarian can usually help with this. . Fair use rationale for File:Horohoro.PNG

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Horohoro.PNG. I've done some work cleaning up your recent citations. You might want to take a look -- what was lost was a little precision with page numbers and URLs, but none was really needed anyway. Gain: it looks less like somebody was trying to pad out the references to give an impression of greater notability (not that I assumed any such thing.) I'll leave the Daughters of the Confederacy cite as an exercise for the reader. ;-) Yakushima (talk) 12:09, 31 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Rika Matsuda's escape edit

The mistake you edited into the article is over years old but since you still contribute to the page, I wanted to point it out and why it needed to be corrected.

This is how you wrote it- Cho died in the fire as a surviving flight attendant, Lee Yong Ho, found Rika Matsuda and accompanied her until the two encountered Gutierrez.

Now here's how I wrote it- After escaping the aircraft, Rika discovered a surviving flight attendant, Lee Yong Ho. They stayed together till Gutierrez discovered them.

Rika found the injured flight attendant not the other way around and Gutierrez found them both. The source you cite for your edit says my way is how it happened.

Her legs were cut from swordgrass as she walked for an hour. After 2 explosions, she encountered a surviving flight attendant, Yong Ho Lee, on top of Nimitz Hill who was critically injured but quietly pleading for help. After the enervated Rika talked to the attendant, she slept next to the critically injured attendant and then was discovered by her rescuers at about 100 to 140 feet from the blazing inferno, Tatsuo Matsuda indicated. The initial rescuers encountered great difficulty establishing a path to the blazing impact site.William 23:38, 21 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Schools

Hi Whisper to me, Sorry if this isn't the right place to leave a message, but this talk page is not intuitive at all and has no instruction on how to leave an email/ message. I appreciate your message and edits on the Houston Lee HS page. I am one of the founders of the Houston Lee HS Alumni Association, and want to visit with you about the text and context of the Lee Wiki page we have been both editing. Unfortunately, Lee has suffered from years of neglect, both internally and by HISD, and the Wiki page, covering the last 10 years of the school's spiral downward, doesn't accurately reflect the proud 49 year history completely. Since local and national media, as well as parents interested in their child's potential attendance at Lee all turn to the WWW and usually Wikipedia, I/we are very concerned that the page adequately reflect both the true and accurate facts in sequence, but as well, the proper TONE and history of the facility, as we try and turn it around. Please let me know if there is a cell # I can contact you, or perhaps we can meet for a cup of coffee and discuss this in greater detail. I may be reached at spencerich@hotmail.com . Many thanks in advance.

Just to let you know that the guidelines at WP:WPSCH have been accepted practice for several years and there are no plans to change them or revert them. Generally, elementary (primary) and middle schools are not notable, and however well sourced will not pass notability criteria unless there are exceptional circumstances. Mainstream Secondary and High schools that provide a full-time education to Grade 12 (18 years old) are accepted without special notability, unless, of course the page is pure vandalism or a hoax. Most school articles however, are in very poor condition and a clean up drive is scheduled for 2011. We need all the help we can get. --Kudpung (talk) 03:48, 25 December 2010 (UTC)[reply]

I feel I owe an apology to you

I've been reviewing some of my old edits and conversations here on Wikipedia and have found not-many, but some (and that's far to many for my liking) of my prior participation in conversations to unnecessarily be highly contentious; much of which was uncalled for, immature, and inappropriate. Some of it was presented as highly uncivil and could've been worded a lot differently. Much of it also came with a lack of understanding/knowing of Wikipedia Policies. I must thank you for your patience in dealing with my statements in conversations in which we were mutually involved (In example: those seen in this move proposal). I can't see myself today making any edits like that and wonder how I could have. I suppose it's true what they[who?] say about the Seven Ages of Wikipedians. Correctness

Re: the location question at Gabrielle Giffords (edit | talk | history | protect | delete | links | watch | logs | views), although you are technically correct, I think you should try to find some broader support due to the concern I relayed about the preponderance of local reporting calling it "Tucson". edit notice on Gabrielle Giffords

Hi - please see my comment at Talk:Gabrielle Giffords#In/near Tucson. I think the edit notice was overkill for an extremely minor point, and not even really the best way to describe the location. More importantly, this was hardly a community consensus worthy of such a major warning. Hidden text takes care of it, and points people to a place where it is under discussion - more appropriate for this kind of thing I think. See what you think about this. Primary sources and BLP policy

Re your use of a primary source to find Loughner's prison nember, see WP:BLPPRIMARY:

"Exercise caution in using primary sources. Do not use trial transcripts and other court records, or other public documents, to support assertions about a living person. Do not use public records that include personal details, such as date of birth, home value, traffic citations, vehicle registrations, and home or business addresses. Where primary-source material has been discussed by a reliable secondary source, it may be acceptable to rely on it to augment the secondary source, subject to the restrictions of this policy, no original research, and the other sourcing policies."

AndyTheGrump (talk) 22:59, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I wasn't aware of the BLP/N thread - this decision seems to be rather at odds with what WP:BLPPRIMARY says: perhaps this needs to be reworded slightly, though I think the general principle should stand. Personally, I'm not sure why an article would need to include a prison number anyway - it doesn't actually tell you anything of significance. AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:10, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

OK, if you think it is relevant to include this, I'll not object. Maybe we should look at tweaking WP:BLPPRIMARY a little, but I think that is probably best left for calmer times? AndyTheGrump (talk) 23:33, 10 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

agree

Your comment about the 7110 N. Oracle location is good. I agree. It should be in the infobox. If we are not specific, we might as well state that it happened in an Arizona city.

In January, 2011, Representative Giffords and 19 others were shot in Arizona. The man in now in jail. End of Wikipedia article.

That would be bad. It's not like we are telling the world someone's home address. One teacher wrote on the talk page that the listing of addresses occurs in other WP articles. Hakkapeliitta (talk) 01:27, 11 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Pan Am destinations

Hi, I noticed a number of possible errors:

Tampa: according to the last PA timetable, dated Oct 27, 1991, Tampa was still listed, but appears in the "before closure" section.

A number of other destinations I could find no reference to in checking back over 25 timetables between 1928 and 1991, including

Bogota Bremen Guayaquil La Paz Lima Medellin Quito Santa Cruz Sarajevo Sylt, Germany

There are no references provided, with Bogota and Guayaquil and Quito in the "at closure" section, which I could not find in the May 1991 route map, or the last timetable.

Let me know if you have additional info. Otherwise I will leave as is.

I also have found over 60 additional destinations that should be added. Will procede, with timetable links or citations, subject to your permission/approval.

Pan Am destinations

Just a few more Qs for now:

1) A few destinations were flagstop only. My sense is to count them in, as they appear in the timetable and were served only during a scheduled flight. If so, I would note them as flagstops.

2) I was thinking not to put in technical/refueling stops, but then I noticed Kanton island is listed. There are few other such stops, such as Capetown. What are your thoughts?

Comicbookmovie.com

Hi, WhisperToMe (great tag, by the way!). The discussion on comicbookmovie.com had gotten moved to an archive page here. It had also been discussed preliminarily here. User:TriiipleThreat, with whom I discussed this the most, though other editors also commented, has since come to agree the comicbookmovie.com is essentially a forum to which anyone can add unmoderated posts, making it a non-reliable, self-published source. As the latter links specifies, disallowed is "any website whose content is largely user-generated ... with the exception of material on such sites that is labeled as originating from credentialed members of the sites' editorial staff, rather than users." Everything I've seen so far at comicbookmovie.com, over the course of months, is user-generated. The RS Noticeboard can't, of course, track and list all of the hundreds of thousands or even millions of such sites.

I'll get to your other points, and I do thank you for initiating discussion. Over the past several months, WikiProject Comics has gotten to a very good level of discourse among its editors, and I'm gratified to see that continuing. --Tenebrae (talk) 22:51, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The UGO link to Latino Review's review of the screenplay just goes to a main page now. A search at Latino Review for "Kick-Ass" produced dozens or even a hundred or more hits, and "Kick-Ass screenplay" also produced a huge number of hits, so we don't know what specifically the Latino Review writer was looking at — it may have been the final script or it may have been an early draft, a leaked bogus script (as studios sometimes put out to create doubt and misdirection and avoid spoilers) or something else.
As for Method Man, UGO itself puts it under "Rumored" when UGO also has a section called "Confirmed," so without having to sit through the whole video interview, I'm going with UGO's own characterization of what Method Man said. In any case, it hardly seems notable — lots of singers, actors, etc. wish they could be in a certain movie, or play a certain role. It would only be notable if they were in active discussions to play a role. --Tenebrae (talk) 23:00, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
OK. Hope this helps. I can see, clearly, that you're someone who cares about accuracy and takes the time to look up past discussions and current policies and guidelines, which is more effort than many casual editors undertake, so I think we're probably pretty much on the same page. It's good to see another serious editor such as yourself working in the Project. With regards, --Tenebrae (talk) 23:07, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Not sure. Aside from the first four or five characters, I'm not sure there's enough to base a whole article on. The "Controversy" section, at least as it currently stands, probably should stay as part of the main movie article since the topic is so closely tied to the movie in its entirety, at least from the standpoint, I think, of a general reader wanting information about the movie.
Good way of thinking, though — a problem-solving way of thinking. That's going to come in handy.--Tenebrae (talk) 23:24, 23 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Requested Article from Dallas Morning News

Hi WhisperToMe,

On August 27th, you requested an article from the Dallas Morning News at the Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange. I just emailed the article to you - I know it's been awhile so I hope it will still be useful.

Best, GabrielF (talk) 04:48, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

No problem. Looks like you've got two requests from April at Wikipedia:WikiProject Resource Exchange/Resource Request as well. Would you like me to try to track those down for you? GabrielF (talk) 05:10, 24 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Lexington Herald-Leader

I just sent you the seven articles listed from October. Let me know if I missed any of them. Unfortunately my online access to the Christian Science Monitor only goes back to 1980 so the Cullen Center article might take a bit. I can try to get it off microfilm but it may take awhile. Small details

Good find about Cris Kirkwood. I was wondering about this in the back of my head. KimChee (talk) 07:51, 27 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

The article River Oaks Baptist School has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Primary and middle schools are not covered by the convention of WP:NHS or the guidelines of Wikipedia:OUTCOMES#Education which advises that this article would need a "clear claim to notability" which it fails to do. Consequently the article fails the policy of WP:ORG and appears unlikely to address notability in the near future.

Airbus A330

I've been busy expanding the page Airbus A330; with some further expansions and referencing, do you reckon the page will reach GA status? -- Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(I love Wikipedia!) 02:35, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I can't find the month-to-month order count; the information on the materials used on the airframe (composite, aliminium), flight deck; and there are not a lot of pics with encyclopediac value. -- Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(I love Wikipedia!) 02:50, 29 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Can you just have a look at the article and see what I should improve on? I'm planning to take it straight to Featured article candidate. Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(I love Wikipedia!) 00:46, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I'm trying to update the list prices of the A330, but I can't find the url of the key document. If you visit this http://www.airbus.com/presscentre/corporate-information/key-documents/ , at the bottom its says "Airbus Price List 2011", if I click on it, the file will download with no mention of the url. Can you help me? Sp33dyphil (Talk) (Contributions)(I love Wikipedia!) 01:01, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
Could you please review the article Airbus A330 at Talk:Airbus A330/GA1, since you are an administrator and one I can trust? If not, doesn't matter. Sp33dyphil (TC • I love Wikipedia!) 22:39, 1 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
The monthy order figures aren't available, unlike Boeing – where should I look? Sp33dyphil (TC • I love Wikipedia!) 00:39, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]
No hope :( Sp33dyphil (TC • I love Wikipedia!) 00:50, 2 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Photo request:FlyBe head office

Sorry Exeter is quite a long way for me. I live in the Chew Valley north Somerset. Why not put a message on Wikipedia:WikiProject Devon? There is already a flybe pic on the Exeter International Airport article at File:NewWalkerHangarFlybe.jpg. geograph SY0093 also has lots of airport photos, which are suitably licenced - also try surrounding grid squares.— Rod talk 08:51, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Thats all the options I can think of. If I'm ever down that way I will try to remember but the only local airport I use is Bristol Airport.— Rod talk 09:14, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
I might be able to do it in about 2 months, which is the next time I'll be driving down the narrow sunken lane that's the main access road to the airport. Ning-ning (talk) 10:43, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Omni Air International

You added Omni to the Tulsa airport article, giving a reference - the reference was to Omnis contact page, which does not provide any notability to show why the reference belongs in the airport article. Tulsa may be significant to Omni, but without a reference you haven't shown why Omni is significant for Tulsa. If that article was to list every small business that is associated with it, it would be rather long indeed, which is why having a citation to show why any given business should be mentioned is important. Weakopedia (talk) 09:42, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

You added a link to Denim Air to the article about De Ronde Venen, again without a reference. Denim Air is in no way significant to the municipality, and adding links to airline companies to every article you can find is starting to look like advertising. Looking at your contributions it seems that of late they have largely been edits of this nature. Please look at Wikipedia:Notability before adding any more. Weakopedia (talk) 10:05, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

It looks like you are an admin on this site - are you familiar with the rules on notability? Take a look at Málaga Airport where you added "The airport's domestic departures section once had the head office of Binter Mediterraneo.". Do you intend to add the contact details of every company that ever existed at that airport? Why is this one significant? The "reference" you supply is to what is basically a telephone directory from 14 years ago. You don't, or can't, show why Binter has any place in the article about the airport. This pattern is repeated throughout your edits. So just what are your criterea for notability? Weakopedia (talk) 10:22, 30 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
