I hope you enjoy editing here and being a Wikipedian! Please sign your messages on discussion pages using four tildes (~~~~); this will automatically insert your username and the date. In response to your question

[edit]

Well, above all, you could check WP:WANTED to find most-wanted articles and create them. I suggest you do not recreate an article that was deleted by consensus, unless it has been substantially changed in content.

Also, if you have further questions, you could ask me, or place helpme on this page. You should get a response within five minutes. :) —La Pianista (TCS) 19:22, 2 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

You may add links by putting double brackets around the term, like link here. See WP:CHEAT for details.
You can name a link to another article under a different name. For example, dog will create dog. —La Pianista (TCS) 02:40, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit count

[edit]

Hi, WWW (if I may call you that).

I noticed on your talk page that you were keeping track of your edit counts. You can find a live tool here.

And thanks for your comments on my WP:EFD - one of the very few supports I've gotten. I'll have you know it's all a joke, though - no one is actually getting deleted. ;) —La Pianista (TCS) 01:26, 5 November 2008 (UTC) Start a random conversation on my talkpage!--What!?Why?Who? All right, then. What do you define as a "random conversation"? Don't do this too often, though - hate to be a killjoy, but have a look at this policy.La Pianista (TCS) 04:27, 7 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for signing my guestbook, is it ok if I edit your userpage, I can make it a little better...--Spittlespat 20:45, 8 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Possible adoption

[edit]

Hey, WWW. Spittle and I are thinking about adopting you. We'll co-adopt, seeing as he's pretty eager to help out. Here are two userboxes for you to put on your page:

A word about userboxes. You can place them in a table, like this (sample userboxes given):

user please be nice
User MOTDUser WPClassical

...which produces:

Quality, not quantity. This user believes that a user's edit count does not necessarily reflect on the value of their contributions to Wikipedia.
This user does not understand mean people. Please be nice.
This user frequently contributes to the Motto of the Day. Do you?

Or, you can put them in "userboxtop" format:

Title goes here

user please be nice

userboxbottom

Which produces:

It's also considered professional to include some babel boxes. A simple babel template will work:

..which creates:

Knowledge of a language is on a scale of 0 - native. See WP:BABEL for details.

Any questions, of course, can be directed to Spittlespat's talk page or mine. Cheers! —La Pianista (TCS) 00:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Oh, and a list of userboxes can be found at WP:UBS. —La Pianista (TCS) 00:41, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Another tb. Would you like to watchlist my talk page? —La Pianista (TCS) 04:33, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

userpage

[edit]

Do you like the userpage I made for you? Go to your userpage right now. :D --Spittlespat 00:43, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to put on explosion on your page then type this in

Also if you want to change the size of the explosion just change the number in the px part such as this,

If you're wondering what the heck is the px part it's this part, 450px you can make it smaller by typing doing this, 200px.

Get it? And also do you like the userpage I made for you?--Spittlespat 00:52, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Spittle had 3 explosions on his page because he wanted to blow me and pianista up. And it doesn't say he's a vandal, it says 'vandalize me', which links to his specisl vandalism page. It's a place where you can write anything you want. TopGearFreak Talk 18:57, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Guestbooks!

[edit]

I was wondering if you wanted a guestbook like mine.--Spittlespat 00:56, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, he's already created one. WWW, I suggest you add a link to it on your userpage so it will get more traffic. :) —La Pianista (TCS) 04:52, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Edit summaries

[edit]

WWW, I think it's about time for your first mini-lesson.

I should first remind you about edit summaries. I'm sure you've noticed the little bar near the bottom of your screen in "edit" mode. It's considered good Wikiquette to fill the box in (see the link I provided you). As the article says, it doesn't have to be elaborate; just state what you have done. For instance, if you added a link, you can say "+ link." If you fixed punctuation, grammar, etc., you could just type "c/e," which stands for copyedit. And, if you've responded to another person's comment, you could just type "re."

Basically, the whole point of it is so that editors who search through the history of a page can quickly find out what you have done to change the article. So if they are looking for a specific edit, they will be able to find it easier.

Cheers! —La Pianista (TCS) 04:58, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

One last thing - Forgive me for snooping through your edits - I don't have anything better to do at the mo. ;)
I noticed you tried adding a category with curly brackets. That's not necessary - do it with regular double brackets, just like you do with internal links. —La Pianista (TCS) 05:06, 9 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Talk Page Formatting

[edit]

Hi WWW! Just wanted to give you a quick lesson on talk-page formatting. This is what your posts look like when you write them. (This is just an example, you never actually wrote any of this!!)
Hi! How are you? I'm back on Wikipedia! What!?Why?Who? (Talk)
Oh, I just forgot to ask you. Have you seen Spittle lately? What!?Why?Who? (Talk)
Another thing. How do you apply for Rollback? What!?Why?Who? (Talk)

But when you save, it turns out like this:

Hi! How are you? I'm back on Wikipedia! What!?Why?Who? (Talk) Oh, I just forgot to ask you. Have you seen Spittle lately? What!?Why?Who? (Talk) Another thing. How do you apply for Rollback? What!?Why?Who? (Talk)

You've probably noticed this yourself. To avoid this, put one of these : marks before your comment.

It indents your comment.
Like this.
To indent it further, add more : marks.
This sentence is using 4 : marks.

Thanks! Now get out there and make lovely tidy comments!! :D TopGearFreak 17:08, 12 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

WikiCup notice

[edit]

The 2009 WikiCup will begin on January 1, 2009. The first round will run through March 31, 2009. For more information on this tournament, read the "about" section on the main WikiCup page.

This year, we have a different system in calculating points. At User:Garden/WikiCup/Submissions, you will find information about submitting your article (and other) work to earn points. Each contestant will have their own individual subpage for submitting completed work to us.

This year, User:ST47 will also be running one of his bots to calculate mainspace edits and read your submission subpages to calculate the point values you receive based on our scoring chart.

Questions or comment? Ask at the talk page or go directly to Garden or IMatthew's talk page. Good luck and Happy Holidays! -- ayematthew and Garden. 14:11, 23 December 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Call of Duty: World at War GAN

[edit]

Your recent nomination of the article Call of Duty: World at War appears to be premature, as you appear to have never contributed to the article before and in its current condition the article will not pass GAN. Would you consider withdrawing your nomination? The article just isn't in the shape it needs to be to pass, and I'm uncertain if your nomination was intentional and you were prepared to carry it through. -- Commdor {Talk} 20:40, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Well, as long as you realize that as the nominator the burden will be mainly on you to improve the article as needed during the review process, then it's fine. If you don't plan on setting aside some time and working in-depth to bring the article up to par, then I would suggest withdrawing the nomination. Just making sure you'll follow through, but if you're already aware of the expectations then you can ignore my statements. -- Commdor {Talk} 21:48, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]
Alright, and a Happy New Year to you as well. -- Commdor {Talk} 21:54, 5 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

People Excluded From the British Throne AfD

[edit]

It would appear that the page has already been deleted. I did not "vote" delete, but I did see that there would be ongoing difficulties connecting the people on the one list with the people on the other. Every time the succession list changed, it would be necessary to change the "after this number" on the excluded list. Noel S McFerran (talk) 04:43, 21 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

FAC withdrawn

[edit]

I appreciate that you are acting in good faith, but it is best if featured articles are nominated by people who have worked closely on them. In this way, they can give reasoned replies to reviewers and be familiar enough with the sources to act on suggested improvements. Someone who has not worked on the article can not provide this input, so the nomination may continue until opposition to it becomes so overwhelming that the article is failed; this takes away time from reviewers. While the WALL-E article is of reasonable quality, it is not yet of featured quality, and principal contributors must be consulted before a nomination, as required in the featured article candidate instructions. You might consider first working the article up through peer review and good article candidacy to prepare for its nomination.

Hello, What!?Why?Who?. You have new messages at TopGearFreak's talk page.
You can remove this notice at any time by removing the Talkback or Tb template.

A tag has been placed on People excluded from the British Throne, requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section G4 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be a repost of material that was previously deleted following a deletion debate, such as at articles for deletion. Under the specified criteria, where an article has substantially identical content to that of an article deleted after debate, and any changes in the content do not address the reasons for which the material was previously deleted, it may be deleted at any time.

If you think that this notice was placed here in error, you may contest the deletion by adding hangon to the top of the page that has been nominated for deletion (just below the existing speedy deletion or "db" tag), coupled with adding a note on the talk page explaining your position, but be aware that once tagged for speedy deletion, if the article meets the criterion it may be deleted without delay. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag yourself, but don't hesitate to add information to the article that would would render it more in conformance with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Lastly, please note that if the article does get deleted, you can contact one of these admins to request that they userfy the article or have a copy emailed to you. What!?Why?Who?, I noticed that you tend to make quite a few edits, but none of them ever seem to include the addition of sources. WikiCup participates in the Wikipedia:The Great Wikipedia Dramaout

[edit]

Hello all, iMatthew here. I just wanted to let you know about "The Great Wikipedia Dramaout" which starts this Saturday. The goal of the Dramaout is to spend five days working on improving articles and abstaining from any of Wikipedia's drama. I don't think that any of you will have a problem focusing on articles for five days, because of course, any work you get done during the Dramaout will count towards your score in the WikiCup. Details are on the page; hope to see you all signing up! :) iMatthew talk at 00:27, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page. New deal for page patrollers

[edit]

Hi What!?Why?Who?,

In order to better control the quality of new pages, keep out the spam, and welcome the genuine newbies, the current system we introduced in 2011 is being updated and improved. The documentation and tutorials have also been revised and given a facelift. Most importantly a new user group New Page Reviewer has been created.

Under the new rule, you may find that you are temporarily unable to mark new pages as reviewed. However, this is nothing to worry about - most current experienced patrollers are being accorded the the new right without the need to apply, and if you have significant previous experience of patrolling new pages, we strongly encourage you to apply for the new right as soon as possible - we need all the help we can get, and we are now providing a dynamic, supportive environment for your work.

Find out more about this exiting new user right now at New Page Reviewers and be sure to read the new tutorial before applying. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 04:29, 13 November 2016 (UTC)[reply]
