Your new articles

[edit]

Hi there - welcome to Wikipedia! I noticed you've been creating a lot of new articles about footballers for WP. First off, thank you for contributing and wanting to make WP a better encyclopaedia. I just thought I should make you aware, WP has a lot of policies on articles (way too many to keep track of!), and you might like to read WP:ATHLETE before you put lots of work into articles on amateur footballers, because unless they've played at the fully professional level, they're liable to be put forward for deletion by other editors. It might be better to spend your time on professional players, rather than have work go to waste. If you've got any questions, please do drop me a note on my talk page. All the best --Saalstin (talk) 22:54, 9 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Replaceable fair use

Thanks for uploading Image:Launch of the Hannover 96 kit by Under Armour, 2009.gif. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Polly (Parrot) 18:15, 10 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Adrian Sanguino has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Non professional footballer, yet to make professional debut, fails WP:Athlete

The article Kevin MacDonald (amateur footballer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Player who fails WP:ATHLETE by never having played at a fully-pro level, no sources to suggest general notability. Article is one of a batch created for the semipro/amateur players involved in a sportswear launch.

This applies also to articles Dominik Aulbach, Mihael Lerotic, Christopher Taylor (footballer), Michael Zahm, and Igor Ferreira. Struway2 (talk) 17:39, 3 November 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The article Johnny Nguyen (footballer) has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:

Did not play a single game in a fully-professional league and therefore fails WP:ATHLETE. Advertising sportswear is not in itself notable.
