Mission statement
[edit]In reply to your message: I may have been a little forward in using the word "advertising" for a mission statement. They tend to show up in school articles where the tone has become a bit more (self-)promotional than encyclopedic, which happens quite often, and I have yet to see any mission/vision statement that has contributed anything to the actual understanding of the article subject. It represents the official statement of what someone wishes things were, and that's rarely appropriate for an encyclopedia; it's usually added by someone with a Wikipedia:Conflict of interest that may cause them to overestimate the importance of internal "statements" to someone not inside the organization. --Closeapple (talk) 07:31, 29 June 2008 (UTC)
