Article selection, Jean-Michel Basquiat

[edit]

Hi @Weiwning, I noticed that you assigned yourself the Jean-Michel Basquiat article to improve as part of your assignment. I wanted to let you know that this article is a Good Article, which means that it is among Wikipedia's best work. While there might be room to make a few small improvements to Good Articles, they are going to be more complete, overall, and harder to work on as your first major contribution to Wikipedia. For that reason, I recommend that you pick a different article to work on - one that has scope for improvement. Looping in @Prof.Reinoza. Brianda (Wiki Ed) (talk) 19:51, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

We have discussed making small additions to article sections that touch on race and gender in Basquiat's work. @Weiwning feels that there is an oversized focus on the market of Basquiat's work. Prof.Reinoza (talk) 20:33, 15 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Ok. I like the sound of that plan. Some things to keep in mind:
  • because the article has good article standing, it'll have many editors keeping tabs on the article, who might want to discuss edits. Just letting you @Weiwning, be ready to engage with others in the community.
  • also bc it is a good article, the expectation for adhering to Wikipedia guideline and policy is higher. As you craft up your contribution pay extra attention to the sources you're using, make sure your writing is encyclopedic and neutral, and that your contribution is well cited for others to be able to verify the information you create. Check out this page, Words to watch, for more guidance on neutral, fact based writing.
