Automagic interactive maps on list pages

[edit]

Hi, please take a look at List of covered bridges in New Brunswick. There you'll see that I have implemented a mapping template to create a map of the objects in the page. You might consider implementing something similar on some of the geographic lists that I see you've been editing. Any questions let me know on my talk page. --Cornellier (talk) 15:34, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you -- I will definitely add it to the United States lists with coordinates. I've been attempting to make that set of articles more consistent while adding any information I could find. I wondered whether people were reading those lists, or the "pageviews" were just a result of my edits! Waz8:T-C-E 16:28, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Great, have fun! As well as adding the template to the page, you'll need to add the name parameter to the actual coordinate. Just take a look at the covered bridge page, it's pretty self-explanatory. --Cornellier (talk) 17:20, 4 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Dog userboxes

[edit]

Hey, can I trouble you to make some more dog userboxes? One for fostering rescue dogs (Adopt me!) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 21:39, 17 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Sure, would you like one with a counter or just something that says you foster? Waz8:T-C-E 01:17, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Just one that says foster. I've lost count how many of them have actually been adopted. :) AngusWOOF (barksniff) 03:42, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Take a look at User:Waz8/Userboxes/Dogs fostered. If you provide a number, it will use that; otherwise, it shows, "Adopt me!". Let me know if you want me to change anything. Thank you for being a foster "parent"! Waz8:T-C-E 16:46, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Can there be one for "is fostering" and "has fostered"? The former would be ones that are available and the second would be for ones that have been adopted, like "helped X dogs find their forever home". Thanks! AngusWOOF (barksniff) 16:52, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
How does User:Waz8/Userboxes/Dogs fostering look? Waz8:T-C-E 17:10, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
Looks good :) Thanks for making them. AngusWOOF (barksniff) 19:06, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]
You're welcome -- thanks for adding them to the dog-related userbox list! Waz8:T-C-E 22:51, 18 July 2020 (UTC)[reply]

A tag has been placed on Category:Triple-A West ballparks indicating that it is currently empty, and is not a disambiguation category, a category redirect, a featured topics category, under discussion at Categories for discussion, or a project category that by its nature may become empty on occasion. If it remains empty for seven days or more, it may be deleted under section C1 of the criteria for speedy deletion.

If you think this page should not be deleted for this reason you may contest the nomination by visiting the page and clicking the button labelled "Contest this speedy deletion". This will give you the opportunity to explain why you believe the page should not be deleted. Please do not remove the speedy deletion tag from the page yourself. Liz Read! It can be deleted immediately. While it had served a purpose, all content has been moved, and the category is no longer useful. The same rationale is applicable to Category:Triple-A East ballparks. Thanks for letting me know! Waz8:T-C-E 19:42, 22 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Templates should not be put into content categories

[edit]

Hello Waz8. Thank you for working on creating categories for team roster templates. Per WP:CAT#T guideline, content categories should not be used for categorizing templates, like you did recently, for example in Category:Current Midwest League team rosters templates. Categorization of templates is done via administrative categories only. Please consider putting wikilinks to related content categories on the template category page instead, for example, in form of a hatnote. —andrybak (talk) 23:38, 27 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

OK, I see what you mean -- I'll start using hatnotes instead. I just checked the other template categories that I recently created, and it appears that you've already fixed them. Thanks for letting me know about this! Waz8:T-C-E 01:17, 28 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

The page Category:Low-A East ballparks has been deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under two or more of the criteria for speedy deletion, by which pages can be deleted at any time, without discussion. As the page met any of these strictly-defined criteria, it was deleted by an administrator. The reasons it has been deleted are:

Please do not recreate the material without addressing these concerns, but do not hesitate to add information in line with Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you think this page should not have been deleted for this reason, you may contact the deleting administrator, or if you have already done so, you may open a discussion at Wikipedia:Deletion Review. Deletion discussion about List of Minor League Baseball lists

[edit]

Hello, Waz8, and welcome to Wikipedia. I edit here too, under the username Meena, and I thank you for your contributions.

I wanted to let you know, however, that I've started a discussion about whether an article that you created, List of Minor League Baseball lists, should be deleted, as I am not sure that it is suitable for inclusion in Wikipedia in its current form. Your comments are welcome at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/List of Minor League Baseball lists.

You might like to note that such discussions usually run for seven days and are not ballot-polls. And, our guide about effectively contributing to such discussions is worth a read. Last but not least, you are highly encouraged to continue improving the article; just be sure not to remove the tag about the deletion nomination from the top.

If you have any questions, please leave a comment here and prepend it with {{Re|Meena}}. And, don't forget to sign your reply with ~~~~ . Thanks!

Bruxton (talk) 03:22, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

@Bruxton: There's a corresponding list for each U.S. state in which covered bridges exist. The numbers per state vary from over 100 to a just few, but there is currently only one in this state. I created the article to complete the set. Waz8:T-C-E 03:38, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]

It is possible that an article for the bridge would work if it is notable with significant coverage, but not a list article in my opinion. Soon we will see what others say, but you can likely merge info to an article about the bridge in case of deletion. Bruxton (talk) 03:42, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
So being part of a larger group having a corresponding list for each state is irrelevant? Perhaps I'm misunderstanding, but you seem to be implying that only states with a "significant" number of bridges should have lists? Waz8:T-C-E 04:28, 19 July 2022 (UTC)[reply]
