Using archived webpages
[edit]Hi Wayne Palmer,
Dead links in articles are often worth noting with the template {{deadlink}} but if they meet the external links guideline, it may be better to leave a previously valuable link in an article in case someone can find an equivalent alternative or replace the link with an archived version. The Wayback Machine is helpful in finding archived versions, or if you are concerned about a valuable link disappearing in the future, then WebCite provides an easy to use service for adding archived versions of a web page to a citation or external link. For more information about this issue and how best to handle it, please see Wikipedia:Link rot.
