Why page should be deleted

[edit]

Those who have self-appointed themselves as arbiters of Wikipedia may dismiss any effort to delete this page as "vandalism," but the subject is no longer a public figure and the entry is mostly hagiography and largely a stub entry to boot. To suggest it's indispensable is to elevate form over substance. The subject of the entry has been targeted by mail fraud and telephone harassment. Such things matter outside the academic environment of Wikipedia. Even most current state legislators do not have Wikipedia entries. Washpol (talk) 16:32, 16 December 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Sockpuppet investigation

[edit]

Hi. An editor has opened an investigation into sockpuppetry by you. Sockpuppetry is the use of more than one Wikipedia account in a manner that contravenes community policy. The investigation is being held at Wikipedia:Sockpuppet investigations/Poliproofreader, where the editor who opened the investigation has presented their evidence. Please make sure you make yourself familiar with the guide to responding to investigations, and then feel free to offer your own evidence or to submit comments that you wish to be considered by the Wikipedia administrator who decides the result of the investigation. If you have been using multiple accounts (in a manner contrary to Wikipedia policy), please go to the investigation page and verify that now. Leniency is usually shown to those who promise not to do so again, or who did so unwittingly, but the abuse of multiple accounts is taken very seriously by the Wikipedia community.

Brendan Williams

[edit]

Please note that there is no such thing as "used to be notable but isn't anymore" on Wikipedia. It doesn't matter if he's not in office anymore — if he ever held a notable office at all then he stays notable forever, and whether he still holds office today or not is irrelevant. George Washington isn't in office anymore either, because he's been dead for over 200 years — but he still held a notable office, and thus remains notable for that fact. We are not just a directory of current officeholders; we are an encyclopedia which is expected to maintain an article about everybody who ever held a notable office regardless of whether it was 200 years ago or ten years ago or today.
