Please help-Lao language request

[edit]

Hello! The Wikipedia:Graphic Lab is working on artwork related to Laos, and we need some help to get the proper Lao language text into the artwork. As Thai and Lao are closely-related languages, I ask you to please visit http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Graphic_Lab/Images_to_improve#Scouting_in_Laos and see if you can help! Thanking you in advance, Chris 06:23, 4 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

ธ and TH

[edit]

Hello, MITian. Yes, it is true that doesn't sound like TH in English, but IPA gives the phonetic spelling of as [tʰ] and [t] for . TH in English is represented by [ θ ] as you've known. Furthermore, in Sanskrit romanisation, T is used for and TH for (which gives the same pronunciation as Thai ฐ,ฑ,ฒ,ถ,ท,ธ). English T is normally [tʰ] and [t] in most case of clusters. However, Thais with ธ in their name just spell in that way conventionally without knowing the deep reason. You can learn more about phonology of Thai consonants (which I love to edit).
