- Do a search on Google or your preferred search engine for the subject of the Wikipedia article that you want to create a citation for.
- Find a website that supports the claim you are trying to find a citation for.
- In a new tab/window, go to the citation generator, click on the 'An arbitrary website' bubble, and fill out as many fields as you can about the website you just found.
- Click the 'Get reference wiki text' button.
- Highlight, and then copy (Ctrl+C or Apple+C), the resulting text (it will be something like
<ref> {{cite web | .... }}</ref>
, copy the whole thing). - In the Wikipedia article, after the claim you found a citation for, paste (Ctrl+V or Apple+V) the text you copied.
- If the article does not have a References or Notes section (or the like), add this to the bottom of the page, but above the External Links section and the categories:
==References== {{Reflist}}
Hello, I'm Materialscientist. I noticed that you recently removed content without adequately explaining why. In the future, it would be helpful to others if you described your changes to Wikipedia with an accurate edit summary. If this was a mistake, don't worry; the removed content has been restored. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thanks. Hello, I'm Gregorysaraf. I wanted to let you know that some of your recent contributions have been reverted or removed because they seem to be defamatory or libellous. Take a look at our welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. — Preceding undated comment added 19:03, 26 September 2022 (UTC)
Please do not add defamatory content to Wikipedia, especially if it involves living persons. Thank you.
You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Jayant B. Udgaonkar. This means that you are repeatedly changing content back to how you think it should be although other editors disagree. Users are expected to collaborate with others, to avoid editing disruptively, and to try to reach a consensus, rather than repeatedly undoing other users' edits once it is known that there is a disagreement.
Points to note:
- Edit warring is disruptive regardless of how many reverts you have made;
- Do not edit war even if you believe you are right.
If you find yourself in an editing dispute, use the article's talk page to discuss controversial changes and work towards a version that represents consensus among editors. You can post a request for help at an appropriate noticeboard or seek dispute resolution. In some cases, it may be appropriate to request temporary page protection. If you engage in an edit war, you may be blocked from editing. Materialscientist (talk) 07:15, 28 September 2022 (UTC)
Please stop your disruptive editing. If you continue to add defamatory content to Wikipedia, as you did at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, you may be blocked from editing.
You may be blocked from editing without further warning the next time you add defamatory content to Wikipedia, as you did at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune.
This is your only warning; if you add defamatory content to Wikipedia again, as you did at Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, you may be blocked from editing without further notice.

[edit]Hi Wandsword! I noticed that you have reverted to restore your preferred version of Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune several times. The impulse to undo an edit you disagree with is understandable, but I wanted to make sure you're aware that the edit warring policy disallows repeated reversions even if they are justifiable.
All editors are expected to discuss content disputes on article talk pages to try to reach consensus. If you are unable to agree at Talk:Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune, please use one of the dispute resolution options to seek input from others. Using this approach instead of reverting can help you avoid getting drawn into an edit war. Thank you. ― Blaze WolfTalkBlaze Wolf#6545 16:38, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
Allegations against the university and one of its personnel
[edit]You have added allegations of criminal activity in the articles about the Indian Institute of Science Education and Research, Pune and one of its personnel, Jayant B. Udgaonkar. The only sources you have provided are the generic home pages of several Indian government websites. This is not sufficient. Wikipedia's "Biographies of Living Persons" policy forbids the addition of such negative information without specific links to the pages wherein one might verify these allegations. Moreover, as these appear to currently be unproven allegations, it would be better to wait until the cases play out in court (if, in fact, they ever get that far). - Ok. Cool.
- (It has actually gone that far. Right now it's not just the courts but also the Ministry of Education who are working on the thing. I can ref the docs and newspaper reports but right now your point is well taken. Thanks. Wandsword (talk) 17:07, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
- Thank you for understanding the need for care in the sensitive area of biographies of living persons. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 17:33, 29 September 2022 (UTC)
How many times are we going to go back an forth with this? Until you can find an actual specific source to verify your text, it 'cannot be allowed to stand. WikiDan61ChatMe!ReadMe!! 12:48, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
- Linked the relevant documents, with contact details of the officers concerned with the case. Call them if you need further verification. Wandsword (talk) 21:45, 9 November 2022 (UTC)
