My Opinion

[edit]

I followed the link you provided on WT:RFA, and decided to give this a quick read through. I'm response to it here since I feel this is the appropriate venue for discussion.

While I don't really see a need for this (helping future candidates perhaps?) I have to agree with the observations here. While people may not like to admit, there are groups that voters generally tend to fall into (I have to admit that I fall into the time and experience group). I think that the term factions may not set the right tone for the essay. New England 22:35, 11 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I would concede that it's not a particularly useful essay per se, that's why I put it in userspace instead of projectspace. It's just something I observed and found interesting about RfA behaviour, and I decided I'd like to share it with other editors. As to the term "factions", it's an accurate description for how RfA breaks down; often there is some degree of hostility and sarcasm between the factions, and I think this is an accurate reflection of how the process works at present. How it should work is, of course, a matter of controversy. WaltonOne 12:06, 13 July 2007 (UTC)[reply]
