Noticeboards

Hi Walt! I've noticed you've made a lot of comments on noticeboards recently. Many of your comments are insightful and useful in progressing discussion forward but I would ask you to be just a little bit more discriminate in considering whether you're truly providing insightful commentary or just adding words for their own sake, especially when it's not your first comment in a thread. And, as you say above, it wouldn't do you any harm to write an article! Trust me, interactions in mainspace are much more pleasant than the stuff that ends up at noticeboards. If al you see is ANI, you end up with a very jaundiced view of Wikipedia. All the best, HJ Mitchell | Penny for your thoughts? 21:30, 5 October 2023 (UTC)

I think you're right. But I guess the problem is when it comes to mainspace, I don't consider myself a subject matter on anything, so I don't really know where to start. Duly signed, WaltClipper -(talk) 22:20, 5 October 2023 (UTC)
Pick a subject you're interested in? A monument or a building near you, something you studied in school, something that's in the news? Or just Special:Random or a WP:Backlog of your choice. Or you could help by offering constructive criticism on something someone else has written at somewhere like WP:PR or WP:FAC. Let me know if you run into something you're not sure about. The advice is appreciated. I may do some gnomish work for a while at the very least. On that note, do you know if there's anyway to impose a scripted Wikibreak on myself from noticeboards or Wiki-spaces? I was going to go with a self-imposed topic ban, though there's always the attendant risk that I might forget, as I have indeed done in the past. I hate to think such a step might be necessary, but a lot of times I just end up browsing the noticeboards by force of a habit, which as you say is not a good thing. Andrew and ITNC

Me again, once again on the topic of ANI.

While I lack the time, patience, and most importantly competency to generate an ANI case against Andrew, if you or another (perhaps @BangJan1999) led the charge I’d be more than happy to lend a comment in support of it.

I’ve lost count of how many times Andrew’s inane and disruptive edits have very nearly made me break WP:CIVILITY guidelines up until now. The Kip 17:52, 23 October 2023 (UTC)
