Hatnotes

WP:SIMILAR doesn't apply when "one (article) is disambiguated and the other not". So a hatnote would be appropriate for a page entitled Thomas Hampson or even Tom Hampson, but not Thomas Hampson (baritone), Thomas Hampson (politician) etc. An exception would be if there was an article called Thomas Hampson (sportman), as it is ambiguous and the reader could well have been looking for Tommy Hampson, the middle distance runner.

In this case of Tommy Hampson and Thomas Hampson (baritone), the subjects are unrelated, so someone who ends up on a page about an American opera singer is not going to be after a British runner. Hope that helps. Cheers.
