Welcome!
[edit]Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia. Thank you for your contributions. I hope you like the place and decide to stay. Here are a few good links for newcomers:

Mario characters
[edit]You should do your own research. There are plenty of articles here about the Mario related games. You can gather a good amount of the information that way. Next, look at the edit histories of those articles and see which editors might be able to assist you in the research. Talk:Main Page is for discussing the Main Page only! - UtherSRG 22:11, May 19, 2005 (UTC)
Category: Magical and fictional creatures
[edit]I see you ignored the note I left on the "Magical and fictional creatures" category you created and are adding articles left and right. The problem is that this is no different from the already existing category "Legendary creatures." All you're doing is duplicating the effort other people already did to put things into the pre-existing category, which means someone will just have to go through and undo all the changes you made. DreamGuy 20:36, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
Magical and fictional creatures
[edit]I see that you are adding creatures to Category:Magical and fictional creatures. You are aware that there is a Category:Legendary creatures, are you? I suggest that you look through that category and add missing creatures there instead. Also, I see that you have created an empty article on Klabauter. If you are not planning to fill that article with content in the near future, you might want to consider adding such creatures (without articles, that is) to a Lists of legendary creatures instead. However, I have no doubt that your additions are well meant. I certainly wouldn't want to scare you away from Wikipedia. Salleman 20:43, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
- I have
- reverted the additional categorization - duplication of categories in not needed or helpful
- deleted Category:Magical and fictional creatures - same reason
- deleted the two empty articles - empty articles do not add any information to Wikipedia. If you have no information, Salleman's suggestion to find an appropriate list and add a link to the article you think should be written.
- redirected your Toy Story characters article to Toy Story, as yours duplicated much of the information already there.

Backstabbing
[edit]- To see the other side of this converstion, please click here. Thank you.
I'm not a backstabber. I never claimed to be your friend, although I'd like to be. I am an admin of the site, and it's my duty to clean up things that are incorrect. I'm sorry that your feelings are hurt, but the items I've deleted or reverted were simply not helpful to Wikipedia. Try to edit articles instead of creating new articles that duplicate much of what is in other articles. Find red links in articles that you feel knowledgable enough to create new articles. Read the helpful links posted in the Welcome! section of the page. And for at least the 3rd time, please sign your "talk" edits with ~~~~. - UtherSRG 21:22, May 24, 2005 (UTC)
Toy Story characters
[edit]Your Toy Story characters article is still here if you thought otherwise, but what the other guys would like you to do is probably to add the character infos to articles Toy Story, Toy Story 2 and Toy Story 3 instead. Just extend the lists found in those articles. Some Wikipedians do a lot of work on the site and may appear rude for a newcomer; but remember that no edits ever disappear completely on Wikipedia. If you are redirected, just click on the link "Redirected from ..." at the top of the page, and you will find your edits in the history section. Also, always post questions on the relevant talk page if you disagree with the content of an article. Salleman 21:33, 24 May 2005 (UTC)
Pictures
[edit]- To see the other side of this converstion, please click here, and also look at the next two headings. Thank you.
Foremost, read Wikipedia:Images.
An image code string could look like this:

So we have:

If it is uploading an image that you have problems with, just ask. Don't forget to mark the copyright status of any image with a template such as PD for Public Domain or fairuse for fair use. Salleman 10:30, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
- If you want to upload an image, You can name it whatever you like, as long as it is in jpg or png format. Salleman 11:22, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
- I'm not sure what you mean. If you have an image on your harddrive named Mickey_Mouse.jpg, just click "upload file" in the toolbox to the left, and follow the instructions. There should be no problem. Salleman 11:30, 25 May 2005 (UTC)
- Qué? Let me get this straight -- you want to upload an image to Wikipedia, then add it to an article? Or is there an image somewhere on Wikipedia that you know exist, but you don't remember where or what filename it had?
- I'm flattered that you consider me your friend :)
- If you don't remember the filename, then you have a serious problem. You could try and search for the page with the picture on, but there's really not much more to do. Salleman 20:12, 25 May 2005 (UTC)

American Dragon: Jake Long
[edit]- To see the other side of this converstion, please click here. Thank you.
Today I reverted the following changes that you made to American Dragon: Jake Long:
- A general description of a centaur. I think that the article should only describe how centaurs in this series differ from classical centaurs.
- Deletion of the details about the Huntsclan and the Huntsman. These are fundamental to the series.
- A statement that seers are also called "oricalls". I imagine that this is a mis-spelling of "oracles" and even so, I fail to see the relevance of this general point.
I hope you understand my reasoning here. Do discuss any problems that you have at Talk:American Dragon: Jake Long. --Theo (Talk) 16:29, 30 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi Wack'd About Wiki: Thanks for the explanation. I have made the changes. If you have trouble with spelling it is a good idea to take particular care with what you enter in articles. It is a nuisance that the Wikimedia software does not include a spellchecker but you can paste text into a word processor to check it. --Theo (Talk) 22:19, 30 May 2005 (UTC)
Hi: I have just commented on your latest change to American Dragon: Jake Long at Talk:American Dragon: Jake Long. If you have already put this page on your watchlist (and I suggest that you should) please tell me so that I do not need to tell you whenever I write anything there. --Theo (Talk) 17:21, 4 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- To see the other side of this converstion, please click here. Thank you.
Hi: At Talk:American Dragon: Jake Long and on my talk page you wrote:
- It is, actually, quite appropreate. The Professor is overly obsessed with descovering that Jake is a dragon, and Mr. Crocker is overly obsessed with descovering Timmy has fairies. Seriously, how much do you actually watch the show, or even bother to see if what you post is true? I'm a Disney Channel/Cartoon Network/Nickelodeon 'expert'. Leave the editing of this page to me, because I know lots about this show.
- PS: Sorry if anything I said offended you.
I have American Dragon: Jake Long on my watchlist so you do not need to post copies of edits to Talk:American Dragon: Jake Long on my talk page. I suggest that you also add it to your watchlist and then check that occasionally. Ask me if you need help doing this.
Taking your points in order:
- Thank you for clarifying why you drew the parallel between Rotwood and Crocker. Since you disagreed with my suggestion, you did not need to delete the comparison from the article. I do think that if you decide to restore your deletion, you should give the explanation that you give here. Any statement made in the article should be comprehensible to anyone who is unfamilar with the show.
- I have watched just one episode of the show. My involvement in this article arises simply because I expanded a stub (which I had found listed on Wikipedia:Deadend pages) that I later discovered to duplicate this article. When I came to merge the two articles I discovered that this article contained a large chunk of copyright material from TV Tome, so I rewrote that. I do not need to know much about the show to check that the article is readable and informative. Indeed, my lack of involvement with the show helps me to read it as a reader might see it.
- I had written: I do not think it appropriate to compare the Prof. with Mr. Crocker. Although they are both teachers in animated series this does not make the comparison informative. I suggest that this comparison be removed. As I see it, all this is true. I take care to ensure that I differentiate my opinions from assertions. In this case I give an opinion, I explain its basis and suggest an action. You have now indicated how to make the comparison more informative.
- Claiming to be an 'expert', particularly in bold italics, will antagonize many editors, even if you put it in quotes. You will get more respect from behaving like an expert than you will from any claim.
- You may not have noticed that in this case I did leave the editing of the page to you. This was because I thought that you might be able to explain the comparison and make it informative, even though I thought that it should be deleted. Even so, writing anything that might suggest that you feel ownership of a page on Wikipedia can cause trouble. Remember that by publishing anything here you agree that it may be "edited mercilessly".
- I am not offended but I do think that your tone is inappropriately belligerent. Not all editors remember to assume good faith all the time. Catch someone at a bad time and a post such as yours can start a row.
--Theo (Talk) 07:47, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Hi: I like your episode summaries. I have copy edited them for spelling and the like. --Theo (Talk) 18:10, 5 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Friday Night
[edit]It's not encyclopedic. It's a block of airtime, not a TV show. It is most appropriate to redirect it. - UtherSRG 20:54, Jun 12, 2005 (UTC)
Hi Wack'd: I agree with Uther. You should add that material to the main article. If the article gets too big then it is time to decide which bits to spin off into sub-articles. The main reason for this message is to comment on your message to Uther. Even using asterisks instead of a cuss word, the use or implied use of profanity to someone that is not well known to you can be seen as aggression. Please try to be mild in your dealing with others. --Theo (Talk) 08:55, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
I have just noticed that you have reverted Uther's change without completing an edit summary or going to the talk page. You should always enter an edit summary and it is particularly important to explain reversions. Please do not get into an edit war over this. --Theo (Talk) 20:50, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Right or wrong about your decision, you should still complete and edit summary and consider an article talk page entry. It is important to make potentially contentious decisions clear to observers now and to subsequent editors. As for your KND request, which I have inexplicably overlooked (I guess that I must ignore boxes!), you can edit it here…but do so with caution. --Theo (Talk) 21:05, 13 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Peanuts Characters
[edit]- To see the other side of this converstion, please click here. Thank you.
I reverted some of your page moves on some of the articles related to the Peanuts characters. Under our policy on naming conventions, generally, article naming should give priority to what the majority of English speakers would most easily recognize. Thanks. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 21:10, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, 5's and Pepperment Patty's full names are important and those names are in those articles. But the title has to be something that more people will recognize. Anyway, have fun editing here. Zzyzx11 (Talk) 21:49, 16 Jun 2005 (UTC)
care
[edit]Wack - I'm an admin here. I'm not doing anything with any intention to hurt your feelings. My intentions are only to improve the website. If we can be friends in the process, that's great. The articles (yes, do learn how to spell "article"...) are not *your* articles. They belong to the entire Wikipedia community. Do not allow yourself to become so attached to what you create here that you start to think it is your property. Your immature whiney tantrum on my talk page speaks much louder about your character than it does mine. - UtherSRG 11:20, Jun 17, 2005 (UTC)
Looney Toons: Back in Action
[edit]Welcome to Wikipedia, Wack'd! I saw your posting at Talk:Looney Tunes: Back In Action. (I hope you don't mind, but I removed the redundant postings, fixed the header, and corrected your spelling errors, which can detract from your message.) As the guy who created this article and added most of the cultural references, I heartily agree that we need more info on the story itself (as I pointed out in Cultural riffs when I created the article). I see I don't need to suggest that you add the material yourself, as you've obviously been bold and made plenty of edits, some of which have come back to haunt you. (Fear not — no wiki editor is truly established until he/she raises some hackles. But pre-edit research is also a good idea, too.) All I can say about Back In Action is that I'm rather surprised no one has stepped up to the plate in the 11 months since I created the article. I've been too busy with other things to revisit this, but I may eventually get around to it. The beauty of Wikipedia is that no one person need shoulder the whole load, so I'm still hoping that someone else will jump in. — Jeff Q (talk) 10:00, 19 Jun 2005 (UTC)
RuneScape
[edit]Saw your note at the talk page. You just have to learn to get used that kind of stuff. It comes with allowing everyone to edit a page. If you want to help, you should put the page on your watchlist and check it once in a while. It's very heavily edited so unfortunately vandalism sometimes passes through for a bit. -- Ricky81682 (talk) 05:54, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
- You can also check the history to see who did it. Just click on the history tab at the top. In this case it was 205.188.116.197, a known vandal by the looks of his talk page. Howabout1 Talk to me! 17:00, Jun 20, 2005 (UTC)
Blanking
[edit]Please do not replace Wikipedia pages with blank content. Blank pages are harmful to Wikipedia because they have a tendency to confuse readers. If it is a duplicate article, please redirect it to an appropriate existing page. If the page has been vandalised, please revert it to the last legitimate version. If you feel that the content of a page is inappropriate, please edit the page and replace it with appropriate content. If you believe there is no hope for the page, please see the deletion policy for how to proceed. Thanks for contributing to Wikipedia! smoddy 20:18, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry, I misunderstood your actions. If you are merging pages together, place the redirect coding (#REDIRECT target of redirect) to make what's happening clear to everyone, and also preserve page histories. Cheers, smoddy 20:21, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- No problem – I saw your actions on RC, then got your message! Cheers, smoddy 20:25, 21 Jun 2005 (UTC)
Your question
[edit]What do you mean by a sub-article? - UtherSRG 02:37, Jun 22, 2005 (UTC)
- To create a subpage you just need to make a link like this /subpage and it will be at User:Wack'd About Wiki/subpage (obviously you can replace "subpage" with whatever name you want to give the subpage). You could also create the subpage by typing the name into the brower URL, but it's better to create them through links (so that you know where they are). It's better to creat subpages off your User page than off your talk page, since user paged subpages have talk pages of their own, while talk page subpages do not. If you no longer need a subpage you can ask an admin to delete it for you. Hope this helps. Guettarda 16:26, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I had a question for Uther, and I saw your conversation there. Guettarda 19:52, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)
- I did ask him - I just thougth I'd drop by and answer your question too, since i wasn't sure he had figured out what you were asking. Unlike personal conversations, it's not normally thought of as rude to offer to answer another's question - it wasn't my intention to intrude. Guettarda 20:13, 22 Jun 2005 (UTC)

Minor barnstar
[edit]Even though you are off to a rockey start, I think you deserve a minor barnstar. I'm giving it to you for adding to wikipedia despite your interactions with other users. Fairly Odd Parents
[edit]Hi there. I'd just like to point out that your comment on the page Talk: The Fairly Odd Parents that your denial of the rumour that Hartman had left was "allowed" because of your inside source in Nickelodeon (TV Channel) is not true. As per Wikipedia policy (Wikipedia: No original research and Wikipedia: NPOV) you must wait for such things to be confirmed publicly before you can say they are any more or less than just rumours. Just letting you know. :) Purplefeltangel 9 July 2005 06:46 (UTC)
New wiki
[edit]There's a new wiki here that's all about Avatar: The Last Airbender. Howabout1 Talk to me! 18:30, July 15, 2005 (UTC)
You're welcome. I was saying thanks for adding links to the article. I created the wikicity, and was saying if you were interested in adding to it. And as of today, it has 71 articles. Howabout1 Talk to me! 02:46, July 29, 2005 (UTC)
I could even make you an admin. So far we have had one edit of vandalism. Howabout1 Talk to me! 19:23, July 29, 2005 (UTC)
You didn't do anything. I'm talking about the wikicity, not here. Howabout1 Talk to me! 14:33, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
So do you want to contribute? Howabout1 Talk to me! 16:50, July 31, 2005 (UTC)
Great. See you around. Howabout1 Talk to me! 14:00, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)
If you want to use this talk, go ahead, but I'd prefer if you did it there. Also, remember to put links in your articles, just only to Avatar related stuff. It's the same as on the 'pedia. Howabout1 Talk to me! 14:09, 1 Aug 2005 (UTC)
You have been granted the post of administrator on Avatar Wiki. Just accept on my talk page there and I'll sysop you. Howabout1 Talk to me! 16:44, August 2, 2005 (UTC)
No. Noone owns it, you just help out. It's the same as an admin here. You can delete pages, block people, protect pages, and revert faster. Even though very few people view the site, we have had vandalism, and it might scare away people. I need someone to help out with that. If you accept, I'll make a page about our admin policy there. Howabout1 Talk to me! 14:41, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
Sorry, for someone reason it isn't working. I'll contact wikicities, and you'll be an admin in a few days at the latest. Anyway, nice work to About and the other articles. Just remember to put links to avatar stuff. I know we don't want dead links, but you unlinked Agni Kai. Howabout1 Talk to me! 14:54, August 3, 2005 (UTC)
Probably a coincidence. And it might take a little longer. Howabout1 Talk to me! 15:00, August 3, 2005 (UTC)

Disambigutation Link Repair Project
[edit]Hi! I've noticed that you've edited quite a few of the Nickelodeon pages that I am currently making sure direct to the right place as part of the (Disambigutation Link Repair Project). If on your journies through wikipedia you ever notice a page pointing to the disambiguatation page of Nickelodeon rather than Nickelodeon (TV Channel), it would be wonderful if you could fix it. Invader Zim
[edit]Hi Wack'd: Long time. I'm glad to see that you are still busy here. I noticed that you added something to Invader Zim and I did not understand part of it. [edit]Hi there, couldn't help but noticed you joined WP:PJFF (then again, you have an unusual name) and I'd just like to say it's great you're helping with Kingdom Hearts - we don't have any members who know much about it. See you around! — CuaHL 16:43, 11 August 2005 (UTC)

- Well they do have a Wikipedia:Guide to layout of a page, but TOCleft is a template that someone's made, so it's just something users use. Best way to learn is to edit pages - that's how I did, and it's how I found out about TOCleft! — CuaHL 08:43, 13 August 2005 (UTC)
Re: Uploading images
[edit]Yeah, I recall that you claimed to save your pictures in a word-file, and not as separate image files in a windows folder. Yet, you need to have the picture as an individual jpeg or png-file on your computer to be able to upload it here. --Salleman 01:34, 14 August 2005 (UTC)
Table
[edit]I'm not a table expert, but here's how to make one table. There might be other ways though. Put {| border="1" | |- | align="center" | Title of section 1 | align="center" | Title of section 2 | align="center" | Title of section 3 |- |section 3 stuff |section 2 stuff |section 3 stuff |- |} where the section begins. It will look like this.
Title of section 1 | Title of section 2 | Title of section 3 |
section 1 stuff | section 2 stuff | section 3 stuff |
To add more rows put |- in between each row. Then put | on a new line for section 1, 2, and 3. To make a fourth category, put | align="center" | Title of section 4 after | align="center" | Title of section 3. Is that what you wanted to do? Does this help? Howabout1 Talk to me! 18:41, August 16, 2005 (UTC)
Great. No problem about the wiki-all your article are belong to us thing, I stole it from someone who stole it from someone who probably stole it too, so it isn't mine. :) Howabout1 Talk to me! 18:54, August 16, 2005 (UTC)
Re:coulumn
[edit]I don't know, and I'm not sure if you even can. Sorry. Howabout1 Talk to me! 18:00, August 20, 2005 (UTC)
You make a table, like so:
valign="top" |
column 1 text
valign="top" |
column 2 text
Which yields:
yadda yadda yadda yadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yaddayadda yadda yadda. |
blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah blah. |

Capitalization conventions
[edit]Please be careful to note Wikipedia naming conventions, which capitalize only proper nouns and the first word of a title. Thus, for category names, do not capitalize any words except the first word or words that are proper nouns, please. Thanks. —Lowellian (reply) 18:30, September 9, 2005 (UTC)
