Copyright status of Howard siegel esq
[edit] Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to Howard siegel esq. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites (http://www.pryorcashman.com/attorneys-114.html in this case) or printed material; such additions will be deleted. You may use external websites as a source of information, but not as a source of sentences. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing.
If you believe that the article is not a copyright violation, or if you have permission from the copyright holder to release the content freely under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) then you should do one of the following:
- If you have permission from the author leave a message explaining the details on the article Talk page and send an email with the message to "permissions-en (at) wikimedia (dot) org". See Wikipedia:Requesting copyright permission for instructions.
- If a note on the original website states that re-use is permitted under the GFDL or released into the public domain leave a note at Talk:Howard siegel esq with a link to where we can find that note;
- If you own the copyright to the material: send an e-mail from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-en(at)wikimedia(dot)org or a postal message to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GFDL, and note that you have done so on the article Talk page. Alternatively, you may create a note on your web page releasing the work under the GFDL and then leave a note at Talk:Howard siegel esq with a link to the details.
Otherwise, you are encouraged to rewrite this article in your own words to avoid any copyright infringement. After you do so, you should place a {{hangon}} tag on the article page and leave a note at Talk:Howard siegel esq saying you have done so. An administrator will review the new content before taking action.
It is also important that all Wikipedia articles have an encyclopedic tone and follow Wikipedia article layout. For more information on Wikipedia's policies, see Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. If you want to edit constructively, take a look at the welcome page. Thank you. Andante1980 10:11, 17 July 2007 (UTC)
- Same goes for Howard Siegel, Esq. If all you can do is copy and paste without the slightest attempt even to format the text properly, then you simply do not deserve a Wikipedia article. -- RHaworth 22:10, 17 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Welcome to Wikipedia, and thank you for your contributions, including your edits to Willie Colón. However, please be aware of Wikipedia's policy that biographical information about living persons must not be libelous. Any controversial statements about a living person added to an article, or any other Wikipedia page, must include proper sources. Thank you. Qb | your 2 cents 01:47, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- You should not, ever, edit your own wiki article, unless you have verifiable cites regarding the info that you are adding. We have no proof that you are who you say you are, but for you to add things to an article, especially an article of someone who is still living, you need cites for all the information. Please stop adding info as this could cause issue with admins. Qb | your 2 cents 10:31, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
Willie
[edit]Just to let you know, I've brought this issue to a number of folks such as WP:AN/K and the COI Noticeboard. I've also informed Caribbean HQ (an admin) of your claim to be Willie. If this is so, then, let me welcome you. Your additions to the project as a subject matter expert would be extremely valuable. But first is the issue of adding unsourced info to the article. We keep this standard for everyone from Britney Spears to George W. Bush. Anything being added to an article about a living person needs to be cited and referenced so as not to spread gossip. Your additions, while enlightening and would immensely help the article, need to be cited from news sources. I cant exactly tell you how to go about doing this... but this dialog is a start.
Also, on a more personal note... I met you in a hotel in Peru when you came up to visit my mother. You were her friend in high school. :) Qb | your 2 cents 14:41, 18 August 2008 (UTC)
- I'm sorry that this process took so long, but we must make sure that no impersonators manage to add libelous or inaccurate material to certain biographies. We get a lot of traffic here and impersonators are a common sight. I may be able to build the article into a solid biography if sources are provided, but I will need your help to do so. - Caribbean~H.Q. 21:14, 24 August 2008 (UTC)
I'm frustrated by the arcane, convoluted wikipedia process. You have removed many of my additions yet there are glaring factual errors that persist. Nobody ever killed my lead singer. I don;t know how that rumor got started. I know they say that "el papel aguata todo" in our community but really I don't think you have done me justice. In the first place I am from THE BRONX which is a far cry from New York City. Secondly, I rarely go to Puerto Rico in the last 20 years. So for you to be asking the Puerto Rico crew about me is not going to get much recent information. As you yourself recall, we met in Peru. Most of my latter entertainment career has been based in Latin America. Mexico, Colombia, Venezuela, Ecuador and Peru. I am not primarily a trombonist, I have been singing lead vocals for over 25 years and had dozens of hits as such.
The criteria of having to cite news sources doesn't guarantee veracity. How do we go about proving that an event ocurred? If there is no news clip it didn't happen?
Response
[edit]I would be happy to work with you on improving your biography, but you must understand that Wikipedia is a public project and you do not have any more control over your article than anyone else. "Free Encyclopedia" refers to Wikipedia's goal of creating content that is free of ownership, not a place where anyone is free to post whatever they like. You may want to take a look at our policies on conflict of interest as well as the FAQ for article subjects like yourself. These can be found at WP:COI and WP:ASFAQ respectively. The issue with the content that I recently reverted was that it was entirely sourced from your own website which is not considered a reliable source for your own achievements due to its obvious conflict of interest. In order to seriously improve the article we would need reliable third party information with which to write the article. My best suggestion to you at this point would be to post any suggestions for article improvements on Talk:Willie Colón from there editors like myself can make necessary changes. Let me know if you have any questions and I apologize, you are right Wikipedia can be arcane and convoluted, but that is just the way it is and there really is nothing that you are I can do about it, so lets try to make the best of it. --06:59, 19 May 2009 (UTC)
