Hello, and welcome to Wikipedia!

I hope not to seem unfriendly or make you feel unwelcome, but I noticed your username, and I am concerned that it might not meet Wikipedia's username policy for the following reason: appears to cause confusion with relationship to a specific entity, per Wikipedia:Username#Company/group names. After you look over that policy, could we discuss that concern here?

I'd appreciate learning your own views, for instance your reasons for wanting this particular name, and what alternative username you might accept that avoids raising this concern.

You have several options freely available to you:

Thank you. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:40, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your editing problems at CIBC

[edit]

I saw the situation in passing and thought I'd drop a line. First, I think the editor referring to you as a vandal is over-reacting. One important policy at Wikipedia is to assume good faith. Accusing someone of vandalism who is merely attempting to edit is a bit uncivil. I will send a message his way reminding him of that. The issue at hand seems to be how you are editing that article. Wikipedia cannot be used as a reference for Wikipedia, as articles shouldn't be self-referential. In other words, we shouldn't really be referring to Wikipedia unless it's necessary. If you feel that the information is incorrect, and you don't have an outside reference, the best thing to do is to bring it to the article talk page. Editors can then collaboratively to find a proper source. What you are pointing out is a consistency issue, which does happen. If you can make the change, feel free to do so, but sometimes it is best to mention it on the talk page first. If you haven't received it yet, I will post a standard welcome message below, which gives some basics about Wikipedia. Cheers! freshacconci talktalk 01:53, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

3RR notice

[edit]

You currently appear to be engaged in an edit war according to the reverts you have made on Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce. Note that the three-revert rule prohibits making more than three reversions on a single page within a 24 hour period. Additionally, users who perform a large number of reversions in content disputes may be blocked for edit warring, even if they do not technically violate the three-revert rule. If you continue, you may be blocked from editing. Please do not repeatedly revert edits, but use the talk page to work towards wording and content that gains a consensus among editors. If necessary, pursue dispute resolution. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:53, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I am not warring with anyone. You are the one threatening violence. I found an error. Rennaiisancee (or similar spelling) helped me fixed the Bank of Montreal error and now we will fix the CIBC error. Please let us fix this error in Wikipedia. You posted a user-warning to my user page regarding WP:3RR, however, I have not made a single edit to that article. Please be more careful in the future. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:57, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Barek is giving me trouble

[edit]

Bank

[edit]

I tried to call myself "Bank of America" but I was prevented because there is a user called "Bankofamerica". He has been around for almost a year and nobody has complained. May I be given the same courtesy as extended to that user? Thank you. Please note that I have noted on my user name that I am not an official spokesman of the Wells Fargo Bank NA Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 01:45, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

How about "Wells Fargo Bank Customer". Is that ok? It's not really true because I don't have a bank account with them but I neither love them or hate them..no opinion actually. Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 01:47, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

There is no user by the name Bankofamerica (talk · contribs) (no edit hitory). Even if there were, that account would need to be reviewed independant of yours - "other stuff exists" is generally not a viable argument. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 01:48, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
You're name is confusing. People may think you are the former Prime Minister of Israel (same spelling) or the current President of the United States (different spelling). You should change your name if you are such a stickler on names.Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 02:06, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
I suggest that you read WP:USERNAME, to which I've already linked for your benefit. --- Barek (talkcontribs) - 02:07, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

You keep making errors, Barek

[edit]

Error 1. You call me a vandal. Error 2. You call me 3RR when I am trying to fix an error. User Renaissancee agrees with me that there is an error and is helping me, unlike you. Error 3. There is a user called "Bankofamerica" that was created in June, 2008.

Stop making errors. Either that or just change my name to Wells Fargo Bank Customer, ok. Just change it if you demand it. Otherwise, leave it and me alone. Thank you! Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 01:58, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Be nice

[edit]

In the half an hour I've been here, I've met 2 nice people, including one that helped me fix an error in Wikipedia. You, on the other hand, accuse me, make it difficult. Another person even welcomed me.

In this short time, you have objected to my error correction (supported by another person, opposed by nobody else but you) and have made objections about me, etc.

Look honestly in your life and see if you are giving others problems. If so, don't do it anymore. If not, don't make trouble for me. This advice may seem harsh but it is for your benefit. Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 02:01, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Your username

[edit]

Hi. I hope it's alright if I call you WFB?  :) I noticed earlier that User:Barek brought up the username policy (easy to get to at WP:UN), and some concerns with the username you recent selected when joining Wikipedia. I should say that your help in improving the Bank of Montréal article was invaluable, so there's no doubt in my mind your contributions are in good faith. Unfortunately, the username policy discourages usernames that are identical to that of company names. The reason is that there can be significant confusion, and potentially ramifications from that confusion. I believe User:WFB is available. Would you consider changing your username to help minimize any confusion? Again, I appreciate your contributions and your consideration.   user:j    (aka justen)   06:36, 9 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hello, userj. Thank you for mentioning it. You are nice. That other guy is not nice. He has blocked me from Wikipedia. With no explanation at all. And he has been so careless as to see that I suggested the name "Wells Fargo Bank Customer". Instead, he was so careless and didn't read and did a personal attack on me. He should have just changed the name.

Your suggestion, WFB, is even better. I like that because it's a secret meaning to me (Wells Fargo Bank) but not offensive to the person who blocked me. Please change it for me or ask the blocking person to do it. And please immediately unblock me. Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 05:02, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

This user's unblock request has been reviewed by an administrator, who declined the request. Other administrators may also review this block, but should not override the decision without good reason (see the blocking policy).

WFB (block logactive blocksglobal blockscontribsdeleted contribsfilter logcreation logchange block settingsunblockcheckuser (log))

Request reason:

See above explanation and also a recommendation/reference of good character from Userj. Looking at the blocking administrator's talk page, that person is a very new administrator of just a few days. He/She isn't very good at it, just unilaterally fighting with people like me and no discussion. This is really weird if Wikipedia administration is so harsh. Please do not be so harsh especially since I agreed to change even before being blocked.

Decline reason:

Your username violates wikipedia policy. You will probably be unblocked if you make an unblock request so you can change your user name and leave out the attack on the admin. Toddst1 (talk) 06:37, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

If you want to make any further unblock requests, please read the guide to appealing blocks first, then use the {{unblock}} template again. If you make too many unconvincing or disruptive unblock requests, you may be prevented from editing this page until your block has expired. Do not remove this unblock review while you are blocked.

{{Unblock|I am accused of attacking an administrator just for writing "Looking at the blocking administrator's talk page, that person is a very new administrator of just a few days. He/She isn't very good at it, just unilaterally fighting with people like me and no discussion." I am not sure why this is supposed to be an attack? The administrator did not discuss it with me and asked me to change. If you look at me you will see that I do not attack people. You will also see that the unblock request was denied because I did not ask to change my user name BUT look at this quote written directly above the request, "Please change it for me or ask the blocking person to do it."

I have complied fully but the unblock request is denied for reasons that I complied with BEFORE the unblock request. It appears that the Wikipedia administration is so fixated with their lingo and rules that are very complicated, so much so that the administration denies requests that are compliant.

If you are going to deny this request, please contact Userj and ask that person to help out with this situation. This situation would try the patience of most people. In short, I admit guilt to violation of the name rule but I made a genuine effort to try to change it before being blocked. Some fault also lies with Wikipedia administration for failing to change it or making it exactly clear where name change applications should be directed. Thank you for your assistance in helping me resolve this. Please note that Userj confirms the fact that I fixed an embarassing error in Wikipedia where facts were conflicting and wrongly reported in a bank article. Also note that my user page clearly stated that I am not the bank.}}

Your request to be unblocked has been granted for the following reason(s):

The block was specifically for the username; User:WFB, which you indicated above, is available and compliant with the username guideline on commercial names. Please go immediately WP:CHU and follow the directions there to formally request the namechange.

Request handled by:C.Fred (talk) 22:32, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Unblocking administrator: Please check for active autoblocks on this user after accepting the unblock request.

changing usernames

[edit]

Just a quick FYI that the first post to you at the top of this page included information saying "You can keep your contributions history under a new username. Visit Wikipedia:Changing username and follow the guidelines there." 12.193.27.158 (talk) 22:23, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Welcome back

[edit]

I'm glad you were unblocked as you seem to have a lot to contribute here. However, you seem to be missing a couple of important points about editing here. I think you really need to read WP:Civil and WP:NPA. They're not optional - they're policy here. Comment on edits, not contributors. Please let me know if I can be of assistance and again, welcome back. Toddst1 (talk) 22:50, 11 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for being glad. Nothing happened between your unrefusal to unblock and C.Fred's unblock. Anyway, I accept your being glad and I am glad, too. Your reply and not protesting the unblock is also appreciated. Wells Fargo Bank (talk) 02:53, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I noticed you went ahead and submitted the change user request, so pretty soon you'll be able to put this behind you. I'm looking forward to your future work here at Wikipedia, and if there's anything I can do to help, please let me know. As some other folks have mentioned, please take a look at WP:CIVIL. Sometimes things here on Wikipedia can be frustrating, but it really helps if we all focus on the future as positively as possible. (Along those lines, I broke a Wikipedia custom and removed part of your statement that I don't think was helpful for your case.) Welcome back, again, and, again, please let me know if I can do anything to help!   user:j    (aka justen)   05:28, 12 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Hi!

[edit]

Oh, it's been a while! I've seen that since I left you you've had a little troubles with some of our higher ranks. I'd just like to tell you that I will be open to any questions you have for me, and I will be more than willingly to help. All you need to do is post on my talk page, and I'll get to it as quick as I can. Just for you to be aware...

sarThis user is obviously not sarcastic.
:) Good luck, and would be glad to hear back from you! Renaissancee (talk) 21:57, 15 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]
