Development of Electronics for GM Auto Racing
[edit]The changes you have made are very good, however this section of General Motors is still considered "Unsourced", as it doesnt provide references to external resources like magazines, journals, newspapers, etc. We need "reliable sources" for all facts and figures. John Vandenberg (talk) 04:18, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
Before uploading images, you need to be sure that they are happy to either release the images into the public domain, or license under an acceptable free content license, i.e. either GFDL or Creative Commons. John Vandenberg (talk) 09:59, 25 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have removed the {{unsourced}} tag, as you are making good progress. John Vandenberg (talk) 03:50, 26 March 2008 (UTC)
It looks good. The one obvious problem is that it has too many links in it - we typically only link to a different article once. i.e. only the first appearance of the term "Delco Electronics" should be linked; subsequent mentions dont need to be linked.
Maybe you are interested in starting a new article now; perhaps "BorgWarner Schwitzer award"? John Vandenberg (talk) 11:02, 27 March 2008 (UTC)
- I have created a "redirect" at BorgWarner Schwitzer award, so that it takes the reader to the right article. John Vandenberg (talk) 00:20, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I've updated Vehicle bus so that it shows the references. John Vandenberg (talk) 04:56, 28 March 2008 (UTC)
I've reduced the size of the images, despite your desires, as Wikipedia:Manual of Style#Images overrules editor preferences. High res images are great! Readers can click on the thumbnail and see it in detail. John Vandenberg (talk) 04:54, 29 March 2008 (UTC)
Hi, I moved this section out from the main General Motors article. The main GM article is long enough as is. It is now in its own article at Development of electronics for GM auto racing. Polpo (talk) 23:18, 1 June 2009 (UTC)
- Looks like the entire text for this section was copied from an official GM wiki. Not good! —Preceding unsigned comment added by Polpo (talk • contribs) 04:26, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Actually, after looking up your ham callsign, it looks like you're the original author of the article on GMNext.com. This means that it's not copyright violation. Apologies for the accusation. I'll try to get things cleared up. Polpo (talk) 04:32, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
- Hello again, it looks like the copyright status for your contributions for the Development of electronics for GM auto racing article are still under question due to conflicting copyright messages on the gmnext.com wiki. Hopefully you can shed some light at the talk page for the article or rewrite it. Polpo (talk) 17:15, 2 June 2009 (UTC)
Update regarding copyright concern
[edit]Since we do not yet have verification of permission by the processes set out above and sufficient time has passed since the placement of the notice, the article has been deleted for copyright concerns. This deletion is not necessarily permanent. If you have already sent a letter to the Wikimedia Foundation permitting re-use under the GNU Free Documentation License (GFDL) and CC-BY-SA, the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed by the Wikimedia Communications committee. Likewise, if you have not yet sent a letter, you still may (or resend it, if you believe your original may have been lost), and the article will be restored when that letter is received and processed.
As Wikipedia does not require proof of identity on account creation, it is essential that we receive external proof of authorization in order to ensure that we remain compliant with US Copyright law. It is also essential that we verify that copyright holders understand the extent of the release they are authorizing, in that GFDL permits modification and reuse in any forum, even commercial publication, as long as authorship credit is maintained.
Please note that once permission is verified, the material may be evaluated and altered to meet Wikipedia's policies and guidelines. Although we appreciate donations, we cannot guarantee that material donated will be retained.
If you have questions about the verification procedure, please feel free to contact me at my talk page. Alternatively, you might address them at the talk page of the copyright policy, which is generally monitored by volunteers experienced in processing such matters. Thank you. The file File:Watching the 1989 Indy 500 at Butler's Pizza in Goleta, CA.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Orphaned image, no context to determine possible future encyclopedic use.
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion. --TheImaCow (talk) 18:23, 22 December 2020 (UTC)
