Hey - Do you want to see if Harry's Legend is mentioned in any Chinese publications?

The difference between that and the SDK pirate is that Harry's Legend was mentioned in notable publications (I.E. Electronic Gaming Monthly: [1] ) - Also, I tried using Wiktionary and I cannot determine which Chinese readings are used for Harry's Legend) WhisperToMe 16:01, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I got up to Level 6 (One of the water worlds) - the beaver boss is impossible - We may need for someone who knows hacking to make the boss able to kill.

Anyway, I can help you with Level 2 (Mushroom), since I was able to get past it. WhisperToMe 20:23, 26 June 2007 (UTC)

I was holding off further discussion in this mediation until the outcome of the deletion debate on Commons. Given that the image that was the subject of the dispute has now been deleted due to copyright issues, is there any reason to keep this mediation open? Blizzard Entertainment wrong?

I don't understand how I was wrong about Blizzard Entertainment publishing the original Command & Conquer for mac (not the pc version). SC novel merge

I think it's a good idea to merge the novels together. As far as notability of StarCraft subjects go, establishing notability for each individual novel is a massive and probably futile task. I support the idea of merging into a single article, but I don't agree merging into a collective Blizzard novels article. Other than obvious filesize issues, in a collective Blizzard novel article it would become difficult to provide commentary (for instance, Metzen's influence overall on the StarCraft novels) towards any particular series, especially as they are most disconnected. I think it is a good idea to go for a StarCraft novels article, with the other series dealing with their own. It's also easier for editting: I know nothing about the Warcraft or Diablo novels, I'd only work on the StarCraft ones, meaning that I will have to neglect the others. It becomes much easier overall to deal with each series individually than lumping them together. Oh, and having "list of" in the title is misleading, its best not to do that when the contents will not be a list. -- Sabre 15:41, 28 September 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:MobilePhoneTools020.jpg

Thanks for uploading Image:MobilePhoneTools020.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.

If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 21:15, 2 January 2008 (UTC)

Yichang bridges

Hello Voidvector. I'm wondering if you could help me sort out the bridges in Yichang, China. There are two suspension bridges near Yichang. Both are listed in the list of longest suspension bridge spans. The shorter one is upstream near the 3 Gorges Dam, and the larger one is downstream from Yichang. You moved the article for Yichang Bridge to Yichang Xiling Bridge. The picture in that article is of the bridge downstream. I've confirmed this by looking at pictures linked to both bridges at Google Earth. However, the Xiling Bridge according to Structurae.de is the bridge upstream near the Dam, which I've also confirmed by matching the pictures. When you moved the article, you mentioned a list in the Chinese version of Wikipedia. Unfortunately, I don't read Chinese, so I can not determine the names of these two bridges. It is certainly possible that Structurea does not have the names correct. If the bridge downstream is the Xiling Bridge, what is the name of the bridge near the dam? If you can clear up the naming problem for these two bridges, I'd very much appreciate it. Thanks. -- SamuelWantman 07:48, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

From the looks of the chart you put on my talk page, it looks like it was correct before you moved the article, which also agrees with the original references I used. I'm going to move Yichang Xiling back to Yichang. Thanks for the translation. -- SamuelWantman 11:47, 7 February 2008 (UTC)

story of 250

Good luck trying to find a verifiable source for this, but:

… Long, long ago during the Waring States Period (475-221 BCE) there was a well-respected, and rather wealthy ambassador named SuQin (苏秦) who travelled throughout the kingdoms of China delivering messages between emperors and such. Though generally liked, he had some enemies, and upon entering the Qi kingdom (modern day Shandong) some thugs killed him.

The Emperor of Qi was really pissed off, as SuQin was a friend of his court. He laboured to find a way he could discover the killer and then had an idea that I’m sure made him feel royally proud of himself. He cut off SuQin’s head and placed it on the capitol’s main gate with a sign that said: “One Thousand Gold To The Killer Of This Enemy of Qi!”

A greedy bunch the Qi, and four guys, instead of one, showed up to claim the reward. With a dilemma of who to hold responsible, the Emperor asked the men how he should divide the reward. They all agreed it should be split four ways - 250 each. So, the Emperor decreed (c’mon, how often do you get to write that word?) that the punishment be given to all four and informed his guards to:

“Ba zhe sige erbaiwu tui chuqu zhanshou! / 把这四个二百五推出去斩首! / Take these four 250s out and remove their heads!”

GPL'ed Core fonts on web

How on earth does the original EULA give people the right to legally distribute those fonts under GPL on Sourceforge? I'm not getting it... Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 01:40, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

It is not distributed as GPL, the fonts (actually their .exe) are simply redistributed as is. The GPL part of that SourceForge project is the Linux installer, not the exe file. --Voidvector (talk) 02:20, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
That would be totally against Sourceforge's TOS, then, since that package is not being distributed under an open source license, right? Jdavidb (talk • contribs) 02:42, 5 January 2009 (UTC)
Well, to SourceForge, the project is the GPL installer. Now whether it is permissible to host project-related but non-open source binaries on SourceForge, I don't really know for sure. You can probably submit a ticket on SourceForge's support system asking for clarification. --Voidvector (talk) 03:06, 5 January 2009 (UTC)

I've never heard of "虎屄", although google search shows it does exist. Other than that it seems ok. 你妈的屄 and 你妈屄 are both used, the ladder is used more like an adjective, the former more like a noun. As for which character should be used in "他妈巴子/他妈八子" beats me. --Voidvector (talk) 09:07, 28 January 2009 (UTC)

Do you have any thoughts on renaming the page to reflect that the notability (and most of the content) is about the labor dispute/takeover, etc. than the company itself?Notmyrealname (talk) 00:39, 6 February 2009 (UTC)

I don't mind the current name, as it is the most recognizable name for the topic. An editor has nominated one or more articles which you have created or worked on, for deletion. The nominated article is Huma Abedin. We appreciate your contributions, but the nominator doesn't believe that the article satisfies Wikipedia's criteria for inclusion and has explained why in his/her nomination (see also Wikipedia:Notability and "What Wikipedia is not").

Your opinions on whether the article meets inclusion criteria and what should be done with the article are welcome; please participate in the discussion(s) by adding your comments to Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Huma Abedin (2nd nomination). Please be sure to sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~).

You may also edit the article during the discussion to improve it but should not remove the articles for deletion template from the top of the article; such removal will not end the deletion debate.

You are now a Reviewer

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. Courcelles (talk) 01:16, 18 June 2010 (UTC)

Fair use rationale for File:GECK.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:GECK.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.

If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Replaceable fair use File:Wordpad vertical text support.png

Thanks for uploading File:Wordpad vertical text support.png. I noticed the description page specifies that the media is being used under a claim of fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first non-free content criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed media could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information or which could be adequately covered with text alone. If you believe this media is not replaceable, please:

  1. Go to the media description page and edit it to add {{di-replaceable fair use disputed}}, without deleting the original replaceable fair use template.
  2. On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.

Alternatively, you can also choose to replace this non-free media by finding freely licensed media of the same subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or similar) media under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our non-free content criteria. You can find a list of description pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that even if you follow steps 1 and 2 above, non-free media which could be replaced by freely licensed alternatives will be deleted 2 days after this notification (7 days if uploaded before 13 July 2006), per our non-free content policy. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. mabdul 14:19, 10 May 2012 (UTC)

Non-free rationale for File:System File Checker running on Windows 98.png

Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:System File Checker running on Windows 98.png. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under non-free content criteria, but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia is acceptable. Please go to the file description page, and edit it to include a non-free rationale.

If you have uploaded other non-free media, consider checking that you have specified the non-free rationale on those pages too. If the file is already gone, you can still make a request for undeletion and ask for a chance to fix the problem. If you have any questions, please ask them at the Media copyright questions page.
