Your submission at Articles for creation: Sri Balaji Educational Society (December 30)
[edit]- I saw you were asking on IRC channel #wikipedia-en-help for help improving your draft. If you read the messages from the reviewers, they are telling you that no amount of editing will make this article acceptable. Wikipedia articles must be about notable subjects, which - in practice - means that it must be possible to find independent, in-depth coverage of the subject in books, magazines, journals, or newspapers. Your draft does nothing to show that the institution has this sort of coverage and most reviewers will not go so far as rejecting a draft - as distinguished from merely declining it - without having done some independent scouting around for whether the might be notability sources out there, but they just had not been used in the draft.
- You should realize that, on Wikipedia, creating a whole new article is one of the hardest tasks you could have chosen. We advise new editors to start with small improvements to existing articles and to do that for a considerable time before trying to create a new one. There are so many policies, guidelines, and conventions to learn that it often becomes very frustrating to a new editor. By making many smaller edits, one can learn the ropes and - while it may seem counterintuitive - be on your way to creating your first new article in less overall elapsed time than if you choose to start that new article as your very first task. Part of the problem is that one can wait a long time for a review - you will be forgiven for thinking that the review process with such long wait times is broken.
- You said at the help desk that this article is not something you have a special connection with, so look around and find other articles in which you might have an interest and find ways to improve them. There is also the community portal where you can pick up small tasks based on the category of what needs to be done.
- But there's no place on Wikipedia where you can find help to make a non-notable subject into a notable one. That judgment about notability is decided in the wider world, by whether reporters choose to write about the subject (or not). — jmcgnh(talk) (contribs) 07:01, 30 December 2019 (UTC)
Recent edit to Palle Raghunatha Reddy
[edit]Hello. I noticed that you made an edit to a biography of a living person (Palle Raghunatha Reddy), but that you didn't support your changes with a citation to a reliable source. Wikipedia has a strict policy concerning how we write about living people, so please help us keep such articles accurate. If you think I made a mistake, or if you have any questions, you can leave me a message on my talk page. Thank you! CatcherStorm talk 12:55, 20 January 2020 (UTC)
