Blocked
[edit]This kind of activity is considered spamming and is forbidden by Wikipedia policies. In addition, the use of a username like yours violates our username policy.
You may appeal this block by adding the text {{unblock|your reason here}} below or emailing the administrator who blocked you.
Your reason should include your response to this issue and a new username you wish to adopt that does not violate our username policy (specifically, understand that accounts are for individuals, not companies or groups, and that your username should reflect this). Usernames that have already been taken are listed here.{{unblock|This is a misunderstanding of what should be posted when, and what is viewed by who. I misunderstood this page to be a personal page where you tell a bit about yourself. It's that simple and I'm sure others have made the same mistake. I have no issue with the content I posted to my page being removed, as it was simply a test post of no substance. However I do have an issue with my account being deleted just because I have a website that uses my Internet nickname. I have emailed the administrator that blocked my account with a brief explanation that my nickname is in no way a commercial endeavor, nor was my post an attempt to garner traffic to my website. I'm a new user who tested editing my personal page. I now know I should have used the sandbox, and should read a bit more about Wikipedia before attempting further edits.}}
If you'd like to have the content you had up on your userpage previously, I'd suggest you limit it to something like "My name comes from my website, which can be found here." and having it end at that. If you have any questions, please ask! Oh, and try not to do anything too bad now that you've been unblocked... :P Just kidding, don't violate any rules, kay? :D Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 04:50, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Excellent! I had such a bad day today after getting banned first rattle out of the box. What an ironic twist of fate that my savior would have almost the same name as a team I played for in the video game "Tribes." I played on the team "Masters of Muppets." Back on topic, thank you very much and I think I'll just stay away from the VirtualApplesauce page for a while just to be safe.
- Well, you can have a userpage, by all means; just try not to do what you did before. And I remember that game; about 8 years old or something, though it was still awesome. Oh, <officialvoice> remember to sign your posts!</officialvoice> I think you tried to for your above one but you put it in the edit summary instead of the edit box. Just pointin' that out. Your username
[edit]OK, this is the admin who originally blocked you. The original reason for your block is that:
- You created a user page whose content consisted only to promote a website.
- More seriously, your user name is the same as the website's name.
It is my duty to inform you that Wikipedia rules on usernames prohibit usernames that are identical to a domain name, or corporation name, or organisation name. As such you will be blocked again real soon, unless you make a request here to change your username to a more appropriate name. Thank you for reading. Pegasus «C¦T» 06:35, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah, what he said... Sorry, dude, but it would be unfair if only you were an exception. Cheers, Master of Puppets Call me MoP! :D 06:53, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
Ironically, when I logged in the day after posting it, it was to remove everything I had posted. There is nothing to promote at my website as there is nothing there. I'm a software engineer and web developer and the site is used for development testing only. (I don't even use my email from my domain) That being said I have no problem with following the rules. Being a non-commercial entity, I never would have imagined my nickname also being a domain would be an issue. However after doing some reading and seeing the way that individuals and commercial entities attempt to abuse Wiki I can now certainly understand as some of the things I've read astound me. At my age I suppose it shouldn't surprise me the depths that people will sink to make a buck or simply to amuse themselves and cause others grief, but it does. Yikes, I'm rambling like I did in my post. Gonna stop before I get in trouble again. :) Thanks for the help and I have requested a name change. VirtualApplesauce (talk) 14:29, 21 November 2008 (UTC)
