Reviewer granted

Hello. Your account has been granted the "reviewer" userright, allowing you to review other users' edits on certain flagged pages. Pending changes, also known as flagged protection, is currently undergoing a two-month trial scheduled to end 15 August 2010.

Reviewers can review edits made by users who are not autoconfirmed to articles placed under pending changes. Pending changes is applied to only a small number of articles, similarly to how semi-protection is applied but in a more controlled way for the trial. The list of articles with pending changes awaiting review is located at Special:OldReviewedPages.

When reviewing, edits should be accepted if they are not obvious vandalism or BLP violations, and not clearly problematic in light of the reason given for protection (see Wikipedia:Reviewing process). More detailed documentation and guidelines can be found here.

If you do not want this userright, you may ask any administrator to remove it for you at any time. –xenotalk 17:19, 16 June 2010 (UTC)

Nick Russell Fowler AfD

Hi Vipinhari, just wanted to apologise because I appear to have broken a rule on the Nick Russell Fowler AfD discussion by starting two supportive comments with the word "Keep". Thanks for amending.

I've just looked through WP:AFD to find the details of the rule that I broke, but couldn't find it – can you point me in the right direction please? I was confused by your edit summary, which seemed to be referring to "votes". Regards — Hebrides (talk) 09:49, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Hi Hebrides, I don't think you've broken any rules, because I couldn't find any published rules as such. In AfD page, you might have noticed a link, AfD statistics. It was wrong at that time, possibly due to your unintentional second keep comment. That was the only reason why I've modified Keep to Comment. Please accept my apologies, if you think I should've discussed with you before amending your comment. - Cheers, Vipinhari || talk 12:21, 19 June 2010 (UTC)

Austin Powell

Why are you proposing my article Austin powell for deletion? There are two references on it already, and it was just created minutes ago. There are pictures and other references that I intend to add, but right now I am at work and cannot access many websites for sources. However, he does have a main role in Standing Ovation (2010 Film) which will have a worldwide release, and right now, the cd is available on Itunes, and previews are playing on ABC Family and ABC. This seems notable enough to me. Iheartsox (talk) 16:10, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Also, not to sound bitchy, but why was I not notified that my article was up for deletion? It seems like a courtesy to notify the author of an article that you want to delete it... Iheartsox (talk) 16:17, 3 July 2010 (UTC)

Re: Kasi/Kassi/Kansi

See Wikipedia:Mirrors_and_forks/Abc#Answers.com for my reasoning. However, I am guilty of not checking the link you provided. I didn't realize that Answers.com now had a section where users can provide answers to questions ("WikiAnswers"). This is different from the mirror that they've had in place for several years.

That said, it's difficult to say this is a clear copyvio. The original author of the Kasi (tribe) article (where it is now located) was User:Marifkhankasi, a name that does seem cognate with the "Muhammad Arif Kasi" who is credited for the WikiAnswers text. I would suggest getting some wider discussion at Wikipedia:Copyright problems.

Again, I apologize for not checking the link; for many years, Answers.com was little more than a mirror of Wikipedia, and we had many people try to source articles to Answers.com or think they were seeing copyvios.

RE: Speedy Deletion Nomination of 4Troops Article Stub

On July 17, 2010 you placed the Speedy Deletion Warning on my user page for the 4Troops page I had created. Within less than 2 hours (!) admin Davewild decided to delete the article. I believe he is an overzealous admin (see his user talk page). My article stub was for a band that had appeared on a PBS show. If you Google 4Troops, you'll get one Million links. Cwagner

A tag has been placed on 4troops requesting that it be speedily deleted from Wikipedia. This has been done under section A7 of the criteria for speedy deletion, because the article appears to be about a band or musician, but it does not indicate how or why the subject is important or significant: that is, why an article about that subject should be included in an encyclopedia. Under the criteria for speedy deletion, such articles may be deleted at any time. Please see the guidelines for what is generally accepted as notable, as well as our subject-specific notability guideline for musical topics. You may also wish to consider using a Wizard to help you create articles - see the Article Wizard. ... Hi Cwagner, I've noticed that you've joined WP in 2003, so you might know that verifiability is an important criteria while creating an article. Do you have any third-party, reliable, neutral source in the one-million-links which you'll get if you search for 4Troops? If yes, be bold and create the article citing those references, once again. Please read how to identify reliable sources. Cheers, Vipinhari || talk 14:59, 2 August 2010 (UTC)

GOCE Backlog Elimination Drive Wrap-up

Greetings from the Guild of Copy Editors July 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive. Thanks to all who participated in the drive! Over 100 editors—including Jimbo Wales—signed up this time (nearly triple the participants of the May drive). This benefited the Guild as well as the articles in need of copy editing. You can see from the comparison graphs that we increased the number of completed copyedits substantially. Unfortunately, we were not able to meet our goal of completely wiping out 2008 from the queue. We also were not able to reduce the backlog to less than 6,000 articles. We suspect people were busy with real life summertime things, at least in the northern hemisphere! We were able to remove the months of January, February, March, April, and May from the backlog, and we almost wiped out the month of June. We reduced the backlog by 1,289 articles (17%), so all in all it was a very successful drive, and we will be holding another event soon. We'll come up with some new ideas to try to keep things fresh and interesting. Keep up the good work, everybody!

The existence of an AfD and discussions do not prove that the article that you have tagged recently is similar to the article that got deleted. This is not to say that you are definitely wrong (or right) but just to mention that I believe the tag that you have placed should/can be placed only by administrators who have access to deleted content.
