Hi,

I removed the content posted (RE: Coney Island) as it does not follow wikipedias guidelines. "Per Wikipedia policy, routine news coverage of such things as announcements, and tabloid journalism are not sufficient basis for an article".

Please also see here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:What_Wikipedia_is_not#Wikipedia_is_not_a_newspaper and here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability_%28events%29

Things which should not be included:

News reports. Wikipedia considers the enduring notability of persons and events. While news coverage can be useful source material for encyclopedic topics, most newsworthy events do not qualify for inclusion. For example, routine news reporting on things like announcements, sports, or celebrities is not a sufficient basis for inclusion in the encyclopedia. Even when an individual is notable, not all events he is involved in are. For example, news reporting about celebrities and sports figures can be very frequent and cover a lot of trivia, but using all these sources would lead to overdetailed articles that look like a diary. Not every match played, goal scored or hand shaken is notable enough to be included in the biography of a person.

"A rule of thumb for creating a Wikipedia article is whether the event is of lasting, historical significance, and the scope of reporting (national or global reporting is preferred)."

Editors should bear in mind recentism, the tendency for new and current matters to seem more important than they might seem in a few years time. Many events receive coverage in the news and yet are not of historic or lasting importance. News organizations have criteria for content, i.e. news values, that differ from the criteria used by Wikipedia and encyclopedias generally.

There is no evidence to suggest that D'Onofrio enters these contests to support the Brooklyn housing association mentioned, this fact seems to be there just to support the paragraphs inclusion and therefore it's just a random piece of local NY trivia/news on him which isn't appropriate for the page. Showing family unity etc isnt a good enough reason to have it on here either.

Additionally, the page is becoming cluttered and the important information is hard to find.

Hi,
You appear to be eligible to vote in the current Arbitration Committee election. The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to enact binding solutions for disputes between editors, primarily related to serious behavioural issues that the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the ability to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail. If you wish to participate, you are welcome to review the candidates' statements and submit your choices on the voting page.
