Picture licenses
[edit]Hi, welcome to our little group of Las Vegans on WP! You've uploaded some nice photos of the UNLV campus, but you didn't give a license or anything. Presumably you took them yourself and intend a free license, but if so, you need to say so on the image description page and choose the license you favor (your options are listed on Wikipedia:Image copyright tags). - Hi. I noticed that you gave a website attribution to this image on IFD. If that is your website and you took the picture, then you can place {{GFDL-self}} on the page for the image. If some other admin comes by and deletes the image in the meantime, you can upload the image again and mark it with the template above from the popup list. If that is not your website, the image will be deleted unless you can obtain permission from the creator of the image to release it under GFDL. Thanks! --Syrthiss 15:00, 26 December 2005 (UTC)

Image copyright problem with Image:Vince1.JPG
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Vince1.JPG. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).
The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}
.
Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. If you have any questions, feel free to contact me, or ask them at the Image legality questions page. Thank you. Hunter 15:38, 10 April 2006 (UTC)
Image copyright problem with Image:Vince1.JPG
[edit]Thank you for uploading Image:Vince1.JPG. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you created this image yourself, please look at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#For image creators, select one of those tags, and add it to the image. To do that, simply go to Image:Vince1.JPG, click "edit this page", and add the appropriate tag. Be sure to remove the current tag indicating a lack of licensing!
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask me at User talk:Angr or at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. —Angr 10:25, 17 February 2007 (UTC)

Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Misessuit.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading Image:Misessuit.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot (talk) 19:09, 2 January 2008 (UTC)
Fair use rationale for File:Wetheliving100.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading or contributing to File:Wetheliving100.jpg. I notice the file page specifies that the file is being used under fair use but there is not a suitable explanation or rationale as to why each specific use in Wikipedia constitutes fair use. Please go to the file description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'file' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "File" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free media lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. MBisanz talk 23:23, 6 August 2009 (UTC)
File permission problem with File:DjbobbyB.jpg
[edit]Thanks for uploading File:DjbobbyB.jpg. I noticed that while you provided a valid copyright licensing tag, there is no proof that the creator of the file agreed to license it under the given license.
If you created this media entirely yourself but have previously published it elsewhere (especially online), please either
- make a note permitting reuse under the CC-BY-SA or another acceptable free license (see this list) at the site of the original publication; or
- Send an email from an address associated with the original publication to permissions-enwikimedia.org, stating your ownership of the material and your intention to publish it under a free license. You can find a sample permission letter here.
If you did not create it entirely yourself, please ask the person who created the file to take one of the two steps listed above, or if the owner of the file has already given their permission to you via email, please forward that email to permissions-enwikimedia.org.
If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Non-free content, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use, and add a rationale justifying the file's use on the article or articles where it is included. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have provided evidence that their copyright owners have agreed to license their works under the tags you supplied, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Files lacking evidence of permission may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sfan00 IMG (talk) 10:44, 7 August 2009 (UTC)

[edit]The media file you uploaded as File:UNLVFLASHLIGHT.JPG is missing information as to it's authorship, or if such information is provided it is confusing.
If possible, please add or clarify this information. This will help other editors to make better use of the image, and it will be more informative for readers.
When adding authorship information to self published work please do NOT use describers such as 'I made this', 'own-work' , 'self-made' or personal names, without making your user name explicit.
This is so that media can be more accurately traced, if it is transferred to Wikimedia Commons.

[edit]The above noted image or media file appears to have conflicted licensing. Because the file contains non-free portions or is a derivative of a copyrighted work, such material may be beyond De minimis usage or fall outside the limits of panoramic freedom in the applicable jurisdiction, making the file also be subject to Wikipedia's fair-use policy. Failure to correct this issue may result in the file being deleted in seven days. For more information see CSD F4.Soundvisions1 (talk) 21:21, 5 January 2011 (UTC)

Online Ambassador for Wikipedia Education Program
[edit]Hi, VinceyB!
I'm writing you to see if you're interested in joining the Wikipedia Education Program as an Online Ambassador. Our program is growing, but we want to make sure students still get the support new users need when they begin editing Wikipedia. I've been speaking to a professor at UNLV who is interested in joining for Fall 2012, but she and her students will need an Online Ambassador. In this role, experienced editors essentially contact students with editing tips, respond to questions they may have, and even monitor student contributions to provide feedback. If you're interested in working with our program and these students, please email me at jmathewsonwikimedia.org. Thanks! JMathewson (WMF) (talk) 17:30, 11 July 2012 (UTC)
The file File:Wetheliving100.jpg has been proposed for deletion because of the following concern:
Fails WP:NFCC#3a and WP:NFCC#8
While all constructive contributions to Wikipedia are appreciated, pages may be deleted for any of several reasons.
You may prevent the proposed deletion by removing the {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
notice, but please explain why in your edit summary or on the file's talk page.
Please consider addressing the issues raised. Removing {{proposed deletion/dated files}}
will stop the proposed deletion process, but other deletion processes exist. In particular, the speedy deletion process can result in deletion without discussion, and files for discussion allows discussion to reach consensus for deletion.
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:01, 14 February 2020 (UTC)
