User talk:Vimiera
I have a relative who was involved with the Eastwood Rugby club when it was admitted to the Premier Division, and knows this history first hand (took on players and officials from various clubs but there was no change to Eastwood Rugby Football as a whole). During this time (in the 50's and 60's mostly) the club's nickname was the Timber cutters - this can be seen in old editions of Rugby News magazines.
There are lots of people who were involved in the early times whose recollection are very valuable. That why the Club commissioned an official history for its 50th year anniversary and had all of the early years documented. There was an enormous amount of professional level research done as well as a lot of volunteer time put into making sure that all the ealry years were accurately recorded.
Clearly the people who were playing for the old Eastwood Rugby would have moved onto the new District club but that equally applies to the players from Epping Rugby Club. Epping continues on today but it would make no sense at all to say that Eastwood District Rugby Club is the same Club as Epping Rugby which plays currently in Subbies - thats why its important not to confuse the 2 clubs.
As to the nickname - can you cite a specific source?
