[edit]Please do not add or change content without verifying it by citing reliable sources, as you did to Elastic therapeutic tape. Please review the guidelines at Wikipedia:Citing sources and take this opportunity to add references to the article. Please also remember that this is an encyclopedia, not somewhere to "plug" a product. We rely on what sources say, not what the companies or the product's proponents want the sources to say. Thank you. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! (talk) 21:47, 7 August 2012 (UTC)
Okay how do I correctly obviously untrue statements like "Komp and Mazza are considered the founding fathers of elastic therapeutic taping." This Wikipedia entry is the first place I've ever seen such a claim, as Dr. Kenzo Kase has been recognized for years as the developer of Kinesio Taping. He is listed as such not only in his company's materials but in those of his competitors. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Viejitadeloeste (talk • contribs)
- Well, if you can provide evidence supporting that statement (a reliable source, not advertising material from the companies themselves), you can add it to the article with that source. However, you've also been doing things like changing "no scientific evidence" to "research is in its early stages". You obviously want the article to not say that there is a lack of scientific evidence, but because this is an encyclopedia, we report what's actually true (no scientific support, as evidenced by all the citations in that section) rather than using flowery buzzwords that have no meaning (it's "in its early stages"? well, what does the research show so far? why does it matter whether it's early or late? why would you remove a sourced fact about the research and replace it with that statement?). The key here is that it doesn't matter what you or I or the manufacturer of the tape think. It matters what reliable sources say, and if you can't support a change you want to make with a reliable source, you shouldn't make it. A fluffernutter is a sandwich! The "in it's early stages" stuff is unimportant and I am happy to back off on that sort of thing. I have not deliberately removed any sourced material on research so perhaps you are confusing me with someone else. In fact, I have tried to go in and provide new links where the links were dead. The only statement that I am concerned about is "Komp and Mazza are considered the founding fathers of elastic therapeutic taping." As I said this is an entirely new claim and is not supported by the citations used. Perhaps you feel that it is helpful to list the patent number for every stage of the manufacturing process used to make a product. If so there are about fifteen more citations that will probably start showing up on this entry.
Do you have any plan to deal with the person who has been mischievously removing all references Dr Kenzo Kase, the original developer of Kinesio Tape, the first brand of elastic therapeutic tape to be available? You have held my corrections to an unreasonably high level of verification but seem to think this rewriting of history via Wikipedia is just fine and dandy. This rewrite began sometime during June and the best way to rectify it would be to go back to the entry that existed June first. In allowing these rewrites you risk involving whoever runs Wikipedia to legal liability as it appears someone is trying to establish a fake set of accepted facts for possible legal purposes.
/* History */ The information about Mazza and Komp is pure fabrication. Although they did exist and received patents, their patents are utterly unrelated to the product in discussion.
[edit]Komp was the inventor of Kendall Elastikon tape, which was patented in 1970 and is a completely different product and used for a completely different purpose than elastic therapeutic tape or kinesiology tape. The tape developed by Komp and Mazza is available today as Kendall Sher-Light. It is a completely different medical taping product from the subject of this article. The persistence of this mis-edit indicates that it is probably a deliberate misinformation campaign. Viejitadeloeste (talk) 07:31, 28 January 2013 (UTC)
