Fine tuned universe
[edit]I refused the external link addition as it seems promotional. If you believe that it is relevant and important, I suggest proposing it at the article's talk page (the article is currently pending-changes protected). Thanks, —PaleoNeonate – 05:29, 17 July 2019 (UTC)

[edit]There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. The thread is User:VideoCTO and uftmachine.com spam. Guy Macon (talk) 00:13, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
UFTmachine.com
[edit]Hello Guy,
I read your comments related to UFTmachine.com. Yes, I am new contributor so may have made some beginner's errors, forgive please. I am not intentionally spamming https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fine-tuned_universe but did add the link 2x and edited the text once (so looks like 3). I did so because it was initially removed by an editor and his contact went dry so I tried again after several weeks. Then a second editor, very helpful, suggested I submit my comments to the main talk page, so I did.
On the main talk page there has been dialog between me and "Roxy the dog". He too has been helpful. I am not trying to be a pain to anyone and all the conversations have been civil. The video link on UFTmachine.com is a beginner's tutorial and does point to UFTmachine.com. Is this bad? The site is noncommercial, developed by volunteers to educate STEM students. It is neutral on the why of fine-tuning. Looking at other similar Wikipedia pages with External Links, it is common to to see links leading to similar educational sites, some engaging users in interactivity to learn the concepts.
I am learning, maybe the hard way :). Thanks
Cheers, VideoCTO (talk) 00:59, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
Hello Guy, I am familiar with the CoI principal. Is this a CoI problem because I am submitting the edit else it may not be? Most Wikipedia External Link URL's list credit information. If the credit page is an issue it can be removed. Also, the video tutorial can be removed if you believe there is some conflict. Bottom line is to let users experiment with the simulation by fine-tuning parameters. Thanks VideoCTO (talk) 01:39, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- No. The bottom line is that you never again edit any article to say anything about UFTmachine.com, ever.
- What you are allowed to do is explained in detail at Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with close associations and in particular the part of Wikipedia:Best practices for editors with close associations#Don't edit articles that starts with "Instead, make suggestions on article talk pages and let others decide whether to implement them"
- Now, right now, this very moment, before you post to anybody else's talk page or any article's talk page, read and obey Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI. Doing that will tell me that you are listening and want to stay withing our rules. --Guy Macon (talk) 04:15, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- Hi Guy, I read your reference links and I get it. Thanks for being patient with me. Knowing this before starting my edit would have saved time for all. VideoCTO (talk) 05:24, 24 August 2019 (UTC)
- It has been three days since you said "I get it" and you have yet to follow the instructions at Wikipedia:Conflict of interest#How to disclose a COI. I am going to give you another 24 hours before asking that you be blocked from editing Wikipedia as an editor who refuses to disclose his conflict of interest --Guy Macon (talk) 13:15, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
Hi Guy
As mentioned before, I did read the COI information and accept that I have COI so have abandoned my proposed edit. I thought my previous comment made that clear, guess not. Thanks for your time, 76.218.13.114 (talk) 14:37, 27 August 2019 (UTC)
