Help me!

Please help me with...

Am working on my first submission and my footnotes are getting "misnumbered" and increasing error messages.

Hey there, I presume you are talking about User:VictorD2/sandbox. You may wish to read referencing for beginners for help with this. You can also click "[show]" below to read more.
Visual inline citation guide
Formatting references using inline citations
All information in Wikipedia articles should be verified by citations to reliable sources. Our preferred method of citation is using the "cite.php" form of inline citations, using the <ref></ref> elements. Using this method, each time a particular source is mined for information (don't copy word-for-word!), a footnote is placed in the text ("inline"), that takes one to the detail of the source when clicked, set forth in a references section after the text of the article.

In brief, anywhere you want a footnote to appear in a piece of text, you place an opening <ref> tag followed by the text of the citation which you want to appear at the bottom of the article, and close with a </ref> tag. Note the closing slash ("/"). For multiple use of a single reference, the opening ref tag is given a name, like so: <ref name="name"> followed by the citation text and a closing </ref> tag. Each time you want to use that footnote again, you simply use the first element with a slash, like so: <ref name="name" />.

In order for these references to appear, you must tell the software where to display them, using either the code <references/> or, most commonly, the template, {{Reflist}} which can be modified to display the references in columns using {{Reflist|colwidth=30em}}. Per our style guidelines, the references should be displayed in a separate section denominated "References" located after the body of the article.

What I think specifically has happened on your sandbox is that when you used a citation template, you haven't followed the correct syntax for using the template, such as not "closing" the template with two curly brackets, like }}, and not using parameters. I would definitely recommend reading referencing for beginners, which helps you learn about referencing. I've also added the {{user sandbox}} template to the top of the page (the one that says "This is the user sandbox of VictorD2"). If you want more help you can click this link to ask a question, or just leave a message on my talk page.  Seagull123  Φ  17:21, 8 August 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Thank you for replying, but, those templates and "for beginners" section haven't been easy to follow. I've quickly gotten this far simply by copying and overwriting another article. From what I can tell, the current problems are caused by editing the entire article and sections at a time. Another problem is that my attempts at corrections aren't kept even though I've saved them. I'll keep plugging at it, maybe reduce the number of references. Maybe submit this, as is, see if someone can quickly and easily edit this properly.

Question(s)

[edit]

To me, those Help and How To sections haven't been very easy to comprehend. I've copied and overwritten another article to compose mine which has worked well, thus far. I've corrected my footnote numbering getting out of order by deleting some of them along with reducing my sources. Now, I'm not sure why there are two Reference sections. See http://imgur.com/wqxpZna Question 01. Is that additional ref. section supposed to be there? Question 02. Is there someone that can look over my article and quickly edit/correct it?

Help me!

[edit]
Who or what determines notability?

Please help me with... A few years ago, I submitted a brief article on Mistress Belmont, an independent pro-wrestler with a few title reigns and IMDb credit or two. But, we're not talking WWE or NXT, and it got rejected because she was not notable. However, I did notice that Lilli Luxe, a social media pin-up model, got approved for a wikipedia article. Lilli Luxe may have far more social media followers than Mistress Belmont, but, does that determine notability?

VictorD2 (talk) 02:32, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

See WP:Notability for the general guideline and WP:Notability (people) for the specific. Social media followers do not factor into it at all. —A little blue Bori v^_^v Bori! 02:36, 17 May 2019 (UTC)[reply]

I briefly looked over Lilli Luxe's entry and it seemed like a few mentions, particularly top models on Instagram to follow. So is there an acid test to see if Mistress Belmont is notable enough in someone else's opinion. I don't want to put time and effort into an article if I suspect someone is expecting WWE notability to approve. VictorD2 (talk)
