Concubinage in Islam

I've added a few tweaks to the Modern Muslim views section, over at the concubinage article, though I'm not sure if the edits will hold. Feel free to appraise, change material or check the sources if you can improve on it. Some of the material certainly could be paraphrased more. Unfortunately, I don't really have much bandwidth for the moment but I'll check in from time to time. 39.37.190.80 (talk) 17:55, 23 August 2020 (UTC)

I'll take a look when I can. I was able to obtain some of books and articles cited. If you email me, I could send them to you.VR talk 19:02, 23 August 2020 (UTC)
You should probably leave a message at wiki-project Islam to get more editors involved. Also, I was wondering, would it be possible to contact an academic like Kecia Ali directly and ask for her input? There are a number of disputes about the article, not just the name issue. Everyone considers her a RS (though there may be problems with due weight) and the issues mostly focus on her or her colleagues work. I have no idea if she'll respond (she appears to be active on the internet) but there has to be a better way than to spend months debating and trying to understand her complex work as laymen. 39.37.150.110 (talk) 00:51, 31 August 2020 (UTC)
You can email me some of the material you have. Do you have access to "concubines and courtesans" book? Take care and keep cool friend. 39.37.150.110 (talk) 03:42, 2 September 2020 (UTC)

Sexual slavery in Islam

G'day

thanks for your attention to this article. Two points that I hope might encourage you in this.

Firstly, to split the article we only need consensus, not unanimity. Discussion that fails to address the issues can be ignored up to a point.

Secondly, wp:IDHT is also worth a read. Failing to get to the point is actually considered disruptive after a point, which we may be approaching.

Food for thought? Hang in there. Andrewa (talk) 23:45, 9 September 2020 (UTC)

Thanks! And I certainly will hang in there :-) VR talk 00:16, 10 September 2020 (UTC)

Kafir

Thanks for the advice VR. In the article on Kafir, there is a sentence, The Nuristani people were formally known as Kaffirs of Kafiristan before the Afghan Islamization of the region. Please add a reliable source for it. Thanks again.—Dr2Rao (talk) 01:15, 14 September 2020 (UTC)

Draft overload

There are many drafts now, each with interesting ideas but how are we going to synchronize them all? The basic dispute over terms still remains. I'd go ahead and try to create a sexual slavery in the Muslim world/Middle East(at least?) article, with all the things about human trafficking, Bacha bazi and prostitution as sources refer to it but thatd just be a pointless endeavor to prove a point. Ronakhtalk (talk) 02:11, 15 September 2020 (UTC)

More important any article needs to meet WP:GNG guidelines. There need to be multiple RS that cover the topic in its entirety to establish notability. We users can't stitch together several topics that are individually notable but are never connected together by reliable sources.VR talk 04:01, 15 September 2020 (UTC)
