CSDs
[edit]Howdy, Vertical. I noticed you tagged a bunch of articles a new user created with CSD templates, (User_talk:Juanserz#Kiev.2C_Soviet_Union). Just wanted to let you know that rather than delete them, I simply redirected the pages to the proper article. The search terms are valid, so it is a valid redirect. For instance, some articles on US cities are done in that format, such as Norfolk, Connecticut, rather than just Norfolk. So, it is plausible that people would type the titles the person was creating into the URL bar, which is why I chose to redirect them. Cheers! Ariel♥Gold 03:29, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
- Howdy right back. I've prodded these three redirs, since the cities named haven't been part of the defunct Soviet Union for a long time, and these redirects are liable to further misuse by vandals. Thanks, VerticalDrop (talk) 03:52, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
Please slow down
[edit]Unless something's an attack page or blatant vandalism, speedies like this are inappropriate, especially on articles from new editors. New editors often start with a substub and gradually expand it, as they're not familiar with user subpages; to slap a deletion template on what may be a perfectly valid article-in-the-making less than a minute after creation is biting the newcomers. Please don't.
Jumping straight to CSD on an article like this is unlikely to be appropriate in any case; I note that at no point have you put a {{notability}} tag on it or attempted to discuss the issues with the creator. – iridescent 20:13, 9 September 2008 (UTC)
