Hi. Thank you for your recent edits. An automated process has detected that when you recently edited Juan Sebastián Elcano, you added a link pointing to the disambiguation page Castilian. Such links are usually incorrect, since a disambiguation page is merely a list of unrelated topics with similar titles. (Read the FAQ • Join us at the DPL WikiProject.)

It's OK to remove this message. Also, to stop receiving these messages, follow these opt-out instructions. Thanks, DPL bot (talk) 06:04, 8 March 2022 (UTC)[reply]

ArbCom 2022 Elections voter message

[edit]

Hello! Voting in the 2022 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23:59 (UTC) on Monday, 12 December 2022. All eligible users are allowed to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.

The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.

If you wish to participate in the 2022 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. If you no longer wish to receive these messages, you may add {{NoACEMM}} to your user talk page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 01:51, 29 November 2022 (UTC)[reply]

Neo-Latin languages

[edit]

Hi there, I see you removed my request for clarification, but I didn't see any evidence other than a dictionary entry for its use. Could you provide some context for it? I did some searches on Google Books, but couldn't find any entries after about 1890, excepting dictionaries, which could simply be preserving these older usages. Jim Killock (talk) 20:14, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Jim, you are right. I will undo my edit to search a better clarification. Venezia Friulano (talk) 22:19, 7 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
I added a couple of citations to the Wiktionary page in case that's helpful. Jim Killock (talk) 19:23, 11 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

Gladius

[edit]

Venezia, i genuinely did not realize it was you, I want to avoid other edit wars and co-operate. Again, I have nothing against mentioning Spain and Celtiberians obviously, I'm just trying to keep coherent these articles I and others helped make, when I see weird Edit patterns (the issue with your edits was that Pompeii and Mainz are not sub-types of the hispaniensis, and the sword was in use among Celtiberians before Hispania was part of the empire of ancient Rome). Can you tell me if my last version is fine

P.S. Regarding the other page, I think Spanish America and Portuguese America refer to the colonial period, Spanish-speaking America and Portuguese-speaking America to current parts of Latin America, no? Barjimoa (talk) 06:35, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

There is no colonial connotation or reference with "Spanish America" on this context. It is the geographical term, together with Latin America or Hispanic America, most used and common. Spanish-speaking America is really redundant and I don't remember it being used in the English or Spanish language very often.
Regarding the Gladius article, both are versions based on the Gladius Hispaniensis. Venezia Friulano (talk) 07:03, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
However, although I believe there is not, it is not my intention to give the articles a colonial connotation. So, in order not to offend anyone, using Hispanic America is an alternative. Venezia Friulano (talk) 07:11, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]
Ok, i think Hispanic America is fine. I've removed Portugese America for the same reason and for redundancy, if that's ok.Barjimoa (talk) 16:55, 29 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

WP:ANI notice

[edit]

Information icon There is currently a discussion at Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents regarding an issue with which you may have been involved. Thank you. TompaDompa (talk) 18:49, 9 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]

  • Hi Venezia, with respect to the ANI notice, we would require you to comment there and justify your position. Advanced suggestion -- you seem to be a sensible editor (given that in the past you have apologised for your inflammatory comments). Therefore, a prudent step forward would be to apologise for how you have communicated with the editors in question, give an assurance that this won't continue, and proceed to edit collaboratively. Of course, the final decision of what you discuss at ANI is yours. But the current trend of discussions from you, although not blockable as of right now, is at the edge of tipping over. Please take this as a good faith suggestion from an administrator who has discussed and decided to not block you or warn you in any way. Will await your response at ANI. Thanks, Lourdes 13:57, 10 July 2023 (UTC)[reply]
