"Book"

[edit]

Hi. (No pun intended ...) Can you help me out? An anonymous editor made a change to Arabic language, claiming that the Arabic word "kitab" (book) is used in Armenian. Is this true? Thanks. Cbdorsett (talk) 12:09, 17 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Artsakh

[edit]

Hi! As an Armenian speaker, do you know why Արցախ is transliterated as Artsakh? Is it because the word translated through Western Armenian? I mean, it might be transliterated as Arsakh, isn't it? Good works...--Tuleytula (talk) 20:34, 22 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Dear Tuleytula.
The trasliteration of Armenian "Արցախ" as "Artsakh" is absolutely correct and is the same for both Eastern and Western Armenian standard languages. Armenian "ց" is a voiceless alveolar affricate and is pronounced "ts" - IPA ligature "ʦ" (Voiceless alveolar affricate). Do not mix with "ձ", which is "ʣ" (Voiced alveolar affricate). In contrary, "s" is a Voiceless alveolar fricative similar to Turkish "s". Turkish has no affricates and probably this is the reason you mix this two consonants.

Armenians in Uruguay

[edit]

Hi Vazgen. Hope you are doing fine. I am a Wikipedian from Uruguay and lately I am devoted to the creation of several articles relating to immigration to my country. There are a lot of Armenians in Uruguay, so there we go with these examples:

If you feel like creating the corresponding Armenian versions, please, go ahead. I can help you understand any references given in Spanish. Regards, --Fadesga (talk) 21:49, 4 May 2013 (UTC)[reply]
