"drop-off"
Hi... I can't argue that the source isn't using "drop off" for this edit but it is definitely not grammatically correct as a noun to leave out the hyphen. —Joeyconnick (talk) 00:43, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- I'm definitely no grammar expert. I looked it up myself as well and I figured that the source was likely not using it as the noun itself. Based on that and because every Edmonton Transit Centre section on wikipedia uses "drop off" instead of "drop-off", I reverted it for consistency between wikipedia articles and between them and the source. However, I do see the argument that it can be considered a compound noun or phrasal adjective and therefore be hyphenated. I leave it up to you to decide if you would like to add it back and/or change the other transit centre pages to have a hyphen also, I have no issues with that. - Vanstrat (talk) 01:05, 4 October 2017 (UTC)
- I think I was wrong to say "noun"; I meant as a phrasal adjective, to me it seems like it should take the hyphen. Basically, "drop" and "off" are not both modifying "area", they are together combined modifying the term. But given the source is using "drop off area" and trying not to be prescriptive just for the sake of it, I'll leave it. Thanks for explaining your rationale! —Joeyconnick (talk) 01:35, 4 October 2017 (UTC)

Premise without a source
As mentioned here https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User_talk:2602:306:3266:3000:9932:1DF3:6BB7:25EF
3/5 shows you will look on this site have a premise without a source. I'm not sure why this one is being singled out.
Shouldn't we fix these too, since they have a show premise without a source?
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Game_of_Thrones https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two_and_a_Half_Men https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Eight_Is_Enough https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Two%27s_Company_(TV_series) https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Quantum_Leap https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Stranger_Things
I somehow doubt you'll remove those premises too for not having a source.

White-throated Toucan
Sorry about the Toucan article someone stole my laptop for a minute, won't happen again. Terribly sorry, I don't know what the edit said, but if it was nasty I'm sorry. Rynchops niger 1998 (talk) 23:24, 15 October 2017 (UTC)
While my edit may not have been informative, you can’t deny the fact that it conveyed the subject of “Writer’s Block” accurately. That is all I have to say, and this is not a complaint nor a problem report. Lucy Wolfred (talk) 05:32, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
Note: I did not intend to add this here, as it was a misclick. I also don’t know how to delete it without potentially causing problems. My apologies. Lucy Wolfred (talk) 05:33, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
You are now a rollbacker
Hi Vanstrat! After reviewing your recent contributions and your edits reverting vandalism, I felt that you could benefit with being given "rollback" - so I went ahead and just gave it to you. The use of rollback is very simple; it adds an extra button that allows your to revert the latest edit to an article in one click. Keep in mind these things when using rollback:
- Rollback is only to be used to revert clear cases of vandalism, and not good faith edits.
- Rollback should never be used to edit war.
- If abused, rollback rights can be revoked.
- Use common sense. Obviously.
If you no longer want rollback, contact me and I'll remove it. Also, for some more information on how to use rollback, see Wikipedia:Administrators' guide/Rollback (even though you're not an admin). I'm sure you'll do great with rollback, but feel free to leave me a message on my talk page if you run into troubles or have any questions about appropriate/inappropriate use of rollback. Thank you for helping to reduce vandalism. Happy editing! ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:11, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- Thank you! I will use it wisely and as per the guidelines. - Vanstrat (talk) 15:13, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
- I'm sure you will :-). My talk page is always open if you have questions, though. Cheers -- ~Oshwah~(talk) (contribs) 15:32, 18 October 2017 (UTC)
FISTF and STF
Dear Vanstrat,
my username is sporttischfussball (german), and my name is Horst Deimel (from Austria) and I have seen that you verified that big changes have been made on FISTF Wikipedia page. FISTF is the world governing body for sports table football (aka Subbuteo) and I have invested 1000 of hours to built with my best knowledge, knowhow and collected information for our playing community. Since the 1st September I am in the Board of directors as Communication Director, and one person is changing hear our data all the time. Please help me, how we can stop that, that information is deleted. I wish to verify changes first, before they can be shon to the Wikipedia users.
My vision is that we have here a historical and heritage page for all STF players, journalists, sponsors, so that they can read important data about FISTF and STF. I did also split a few months ago FISFT (Federation) and the sport itself (sports table football) in separate Wikipedia pages. Was not perfectly made from me towards Wikipedia rules, but I am still learning and reading.
I am seeking support and maybe you wish to help, that FISTF page is perfect made to Wikipedia rules. I have no time to change always data back to old feature. The Australian person is known to us. I am now angry that the WASPA section inside FISTF was deleted. I will need to make a separate wikipage for WASPA (on my to do list since some time now). My email is horst.deimel@aon.at

ArbCom 2017 election voter message
Hello, Vanstrat. Voting in the 2017 Arbitration Committee elections is now open until 23.59 on Sunday, 10 December. All users who registered an account before Saturday, 28 October 2017, made at least 150 mainspace edits before Wednesday, 1 November 2017 and are not currently blocked are eligible to vote. Users with alternate accounts may only vote once.
The Arbitration Committee is the panel of editors responsible for conducting the Wikipedia arbitration process. It has the authority to impose binding solutions to disputes between editors, primarily for serious conduct disputes the community has been unable to resolve. This includes the authority to impose site bans, topic bans, editing restrictions, and other measures needed to maintain our editing environment. The arbitration policy describes the Committee's roles and responsibilities in greater detail.
If you wish to participate in the 2017 election, please review the candidates and submit your choices on the voting page. MediaWiki message delivery (talk) 18:42, 3 December 2017 (UTC)
To space or not to space
An editor has proposed contradictory page moves on several Sirius/XM channels, trying to get the space between Sirius and XM removed from some channels where a space is present in the title and simultaneously trying to get a space added between Sirius and XM on some channels where it isn't. There is a consistency issue that needs to be addressed one way or the other about whether there should be a space or not, so I've initiated a discussion at Wikipedia talk:WikiProject Radio Stations — would you be willing to come weigh in one way or the other? Thanks. Bearcat (talk) 17:47, 14 January 2018 (UTC)
Re: Edit of Fred M'membe
Hello, thank you for your message. Looks like I omitted something important in my first Wiki edit. I should have included a reference. I seek your guidance. Would referencing to a website that carried the launch of his new career for insurance suffice as adequate?
Thanks and regards LEAHMITABA (talk) 06:21, 6 April 2018 (UTC)
- LEAHMITABA: Since this artice is about a living person, wikipedia's biographies of a living person policy applies. I recommend giving that policy a skim. In summary, anything written about a living person must written from a neutral point of view, not be defamatory, and must be verifiable (having adequate source(s) provided).
- The biographies policy also has a section mentioning what kinds of sources are considered "adequate". An example of sources that are not adequate include primary sources, for example anything written by the person themselves or highly influenced by the person in some manner. An example of sources that may be adequate include journals, mainstream newspapers, and textbooks. So, to answer your question, it depends on what material is on the website you are referring to and who wrote that material.
- If you are looking for details on how to properly include sources in your edits this page may be of some use.
- More general information about what sources are considered good on wikipedia can be found here.

StarMetro
I nominated File:Star Metro Edmonton Cover, April 10 2018.jpg for deletion at commons, as it cannot be considered self made, as the newspaper is copyright (so you're taking a photo of a copyright piece of work and saying you own the copyright, which is incorrect). Newspapers, with limited exception, have to be uploaded locally with a proper Fair Use Justification. --kelapstick(bainuu) 18:53, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- I've started a discussion on my commons talk page regarding the criteria for this image. - Vanstrat ((🗼)) 18:58, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- I've uploaded to the english wikipedia under a slightly different name, with a proper rational. - Vanstrat ((🗼)) 19:15, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- kelapstick: Come to think of it, I should probably reduce the size of the image since it's uploaded under a non-free rational. I can't get to that right now but (unless someone else gets to it before me) will upload a reduced version tonight. -Vanstrat ((🗼)) 19:21, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- Usually a bot can come by and resize it if it's too large. I will have a look. --kelapstick(bainuu) 19:23, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- I just tagged it with {{non-free reduce}}, which will have a bot come by to rescale it, should be done within 24 hours. --kelapstick(bainuu) 19:26, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- kelapstick: Thanks, I see the bot has already come by. I should've known better than to upload the photo to commons, I will be sure to do it right the next time! - Vanstrat ((🗼)) 22:42, 10 April 2018 (UTC)
- No worries, I have revision deleted the previous version (as required), should all be sorted now. --kelapstick(bainuu) 14:02, 11 April 2018 (UTC)

hi, im just trying to understand what is so wrong about my page, to the point of being nominated for deletion when i have provided with all the information needed. Rodrigop1983 (talk) 06:52, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
please delete my page - all this headache makes no senseRodrigop1983 (talk) 07:33, 26 April 2018 (UTC)
- hi Rodrigop1983, I don't know the specifics of this particular case.. I just saw that you had deleted the notice at the top of the page regarding the article's deletion nomination before the deletion debate had ended. If you feel that all the relevant information has been provided I recommend you share your thoughts on why the article should be kept at its deletion debate page. This is what the administrator making the final decision will read before making their decision on whether to delete it.
- For the most part, the issue other editors seem to be having is that you're deleting notices from the top of the page without adequately explaining why in an edit summary and/or discussing with other editors on the article's talk page. Removing COI notices and deletion debate notices without valid explanation is not permitted on Wikipedia. -Vanstrat ((🗼)) 14:38, 26 April 2018 (UTC)

Speedy deletion declined: Scammers (band)
Hello Vanstrat. I am just letting you know that I declined the speedy deletion of Scammers (band), a page you tagged for speedy deletion, because of the following concern: previous revisions include references, for example a review in Impose Magazine. Use WP:AFD instead. Thank you. SoWhy 06:53, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
- @SoWhy: Fair, I looked in previous revs but was unsure of the importance of this mention. I've brought it to AFD for discussion. - Vanstrat ((🗼)) 07:08, 18 May 2018 (UTC)
Hi, I'm RonBot, a script that checks new non-free file uploads. I have found that the subject image that you recently uploaded was more than 5% in excess of the Non-free content guideline size of 100,000 pixels. I have tagged the image for a standard reduction, which (for jpg/gif/png/svg files) normally happens within a day. Please check the reduced image, and make sure that the image is not excessively corrupted. Other files will be added to Category:Wikipedia non-free file size reduction requests for manual processing. There is a full seven-day period before the original oversized image will be hidden; during that time you might want to consider editing the original image yourself (perhaps an initial crop to allow a smaller reduction or none at all). A formula for calculation the desired size can be found at WP:Image resolution, along with instructions on how to tag the image in the rare cases that it requires an oversized image (typically about 0.2% of non-free uploads are tagged as necessarily oversized). Please contact the bot owner if you have any questions, or you can ask them at Wikipedia talk:Non-free content. RonBot (talk) 17:12, 31 May 2018 (UTC)

Disputed non-free use rationale for File:Alberta Support Our Troops Licence Plate.jpg
Thank you for uploading File:Alberta Support Our Troops Licence Plate.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this file on Wikipedia may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the file description page and adding or clarifying the reason why the file qualifies under this policy. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Non-free use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your file is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a non-free use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for files used under the non-free content policy require both a copyright tag and a non-free use rationale.
If it is determined that the file does not qualify under the non-free content policy, it might be deleted by an administrator seven days after the file was tagged in accordance with section F7 of the criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions, please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.
Also:
This bot DID NOT nominate any file(s) for deletion; please refer to the page history of each individual file for details. Thanks, FastilyBot (talk) 01:00, 18 February 2019 (UTC)
