H.O.T
Hi, I did not add any promotions or ads for the wikipedia page H.O.T , I was merely stating the fact about their group color and that they wrote their own music for their albums. It's not advertising! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.81.122.162 (talk) 17:22, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
It's NOT ADVERTISING! How many times do I have to say this? You are blocking useful information for the fans to know more about this group H.O.T.
- They are the first group to have their fan color -FACT
- They write their own songs - FACT
I know a lot about that group and you need to stop saying I am trying to advertise! At least tell me which part you think I am messing up?64.81.122.162 (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Incivility aside, you could have brought your concerns to me before reverting with no edit summary. But anyway, the tone of the section - and much of the article - is pretty inappropriate. Wikipedia isn't an indiscriminate collection of non-notable trivia. The trivia isn't even sourced either! This is an encyclopedia, not a fan-site. On a side-note, I apologise for not replying to your first post here; I only noticed the messages just now. Delta Trine Συζήτηση 17:34, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Ok I see what you mean, but if I can provide sources, would you let me keep the info? I understand that this is not a fan site, and that you might not be familiar with Korean Entertainment but fan colors are official information, it's what makes up the group and is part of H.O.T's history. When people come into wikipedia and search for this group, I would like them to be educated with all the facts about them. About the tone of this article, I know that we are all trying to fix it as soon as we can, thanks for pointing that out.64.81.122.162 (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC) Thanks for the reply. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 64.81.122.162 (talk) 17:45, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, if you provide a decent source or two and merge that information into the main article rather than creating a trivia section, then that'd be just fine. I'll even do some copyediting myself at some point hopefully to remedy some of the tone issues. No offence was taken, I hope; it's just that the article is in a pretty bad state right now, and after a while, it gets easy to assume vandalism in my line of anti-vandal editing. Delta Trine Συζήτηση 17:52, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Thank you so much. Sorry about earlier. 64.81.122.162 (talk) 17:57, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
- It's quite alright, don't worry about it. I did some copy-editing on the article and got it sorted out sufficiently that I've removed the problem templates. One thing I'm unclear on is whether the correct band name is H.O.T or H.O.T.; this was and still is ambiguous. In the discography section, the former is used, so if that's actually the correct spelling, please do say and I'll rename the article to conform with it. Thanks. Delta Trine Συζήτηση 18:33, 28 September 2010 (UTC)
Yes, I definitely see a huge improvement after your fixes, thanks again for the help. The correct name is "H.O.T.", but both "H.O.T." and "H.O.T" are widely used when people search for the group. 64.81.122.162 (talk) 16:02, 1 October 2010 (UTC)
FYI
Hi KaySL, You had anonymous user IP 69.3.72.249 file an unjustified ANI on you a while back. Now it's my turn: Wikipedia:Administrators' noticeboard/Incidents. I am not asking you to do anything in particular, only am making you aware that this user is now doing the same thing to me as she did to you. Feel free to respond as you see fit. Montanabw(talk) 01:59, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hey there, I appreciate you bringing this to my attention. This anonymous editor does indeed seem to be totally oblivious to any due procedure, or indeed the thought of civilly discussing their issues with people. In my own case a little while back, he went straight to ANI demanding unspecified punishment for a minor disagreement without even attempting to speak to me first. And even after that, on the one or two occasions he addressed me, he completely ignored my points and merely hurled vague accusations of disingenuousness my way. Of course, you said you weren't asking me to do anything - and I unfortunately saw this message a little late - but I offered some comment on the ANI discussion, and you have my full support against the editor! KaySL talk 03:28, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I certainly will try to stay apprised of the situation; I always thought there was something strange going on with this editor... I see he/she has been banned for 48 hours, but for the pagemove stuff rather than opening multiple frivolous AN/I cases. Ah well! KaySL talk 03:39, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- The multiple page moves have probably wasted the time of more people, I suppose if you can only block for one thing at a time, then you choose your battles, eh? Montanabw(talk) 03:41, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- True enough. I've just seen so many people post reprisal-ANIs that these days I'm somewhat in favour of banhammers meeting skulls for their troubles ;) KaySL talk 03:46, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sometimes I wonder if some of the problem is that there is no middle ground between WQA and ANI, then no real middle ground before RFC. Seems like their should be a PITA (pain in the ass) sanction, somewhere. Of course, um, maybe I'd be in it, though! Ack! =:-O Montanabw(talk) 03:54, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Yeah, we've got to think of self-preservation here after all. More middle ground would be very nice and act as a great filter from the more mundane discussions/debates, but I don't know, I like to think I'm a ten-inch nail in the ass myself and would swiftly see the back of an admin's fist. We live in dark times >:) KaySL talk 04:16, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Ah! What a refreshing attitude! I am glad we have "met" even if under challenging circumstances! Now when I actually WANT to get into trouble, I know who to talk to first! LOL! Montanabw(talk) 04:24, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- The pleasure's mine! But no, if I can help out with anything in the future, don't hesitate to ask; I'd be happy to do what I can. As a wise man once said, I'd protect you while you picked up the soap in a prison shower any day. Well... you get the sentiment, I'm sure ;) KaySL talk 04:29, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
Ok you two, don't make me tell you to metaphorically "get a room". :) ++Lar: t/c 12:11, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Sorryyyy. I sense a redlink collaboration here. Kay and Montana's First Room maybe :) KaySL talk 17:09, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Hi Lar, so you already know this person? Hmmm. From my end, is that an endorsement or a problem? Birds of a feather? LOL! Montanabw(talk) 22:39, 6 October 2010 (UTC) Wait, let me rephrase that, any club that Lar and KaySL are both in has GOT to be a club that really shouldn't allow me to join, but I'd really get a kick out of being allowed into anyway! Montanabw(talk) 22:42, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- I've never met this man before in my life. That said, I don't see why we couldn't be a trio of Benevolent Bastards together, as long as Lar keeps his banhammer in his pants, or at least away from my face. KaySL talk 22:47, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
OK, time to keep it clean! I couldn't find any coffee, but will you settle for a cup of tea? Lar's an admin, so do behave! Montanabw(talk) 22:59, 6 October 2010 (UTC) has asked you to join him for a nice cup of tea and sit down.
My apologies, but he is a cool admin and we do idolise him. Tea for all! I should probably get off my backside and go on vandal patrol sometime; I haven't done much this month... KaySL talk 23:02, 6 October 2010 (UTC)
- Well, you've been dealing with anon 69.3 for a month, that's enough to distract anyone! Montanabw(talk) 23:46, 6 October 2010 (UTC)

- I wasn't sure where to place it inline, so I've put it in the external links section for now. If it should be somewhere else, just drop me a line and I'll move it for you. Thanks! KaySL talk 00:43, 19 October 2010 (UTC)
That works. Here is another press release:

GOCE copy edit drive
Greetings, the Wikipedia Guild of Copy-Editors invites you to participate in the November 2010 Backlog Elimination Drive, a month-long effort to reduce the backlog of articles that require copy-editing. The drive will begin on 1 November at 00:00 (UTC) and will end on 30 November at 23:59 (UTC). The goal for this drive is to reduce the backlog by 10% (approximately 500 articles). We hope to focus our efforts on the oldest three months (January, February, and March 2009) and the newest three months (September, October, and November 2010) of articles in the queue.
Sign-up has already begun at the November drive page, and will be open throughout the drive. If you have any questions or concerns, please leave a message on the drive's talk page. Before you begin copy-editing, please carefully read the instructions on the main drive page. Please make sure that you know how to copy-edit, and be familiar with the Wikipedia Manual of Style. Awards and barnstars A range of barnstars will be awarded to active participants, some of which are exclusive to GOCE drives. More information on awards can be found on the main drive page. Thank you; we look forward to meeting you on the drive! |
