Information icon Hello, I'm Coolguy22468. I wanted to let you know that one or more of your recent contributions to Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Armagh have been undone because they did not appear constructive. If you would like to experiment, please use your sandbox. If you have any questions, you can ask for assistance at the Teahouse or the Help desk. The manual of style on Wikipedia says that the city should be called Derry while the county should be called Londonderry. You can find more at WP:Derry C. 22468 Talk to me 14:51, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Hello I would like to make you aware that I work for the Archdiocese of Armagh and I have been informed by the Archbishop that the county should be named Derry in articles relating to the Roman Catholic Church in Ireland, for historical reasons. This was not experimentation and was an issue addressed by the archdiocese. You should bring up any concerns with the Archdiocese on admim@aracoeli.com. If you have any queries please do not hesitate to send me a message. Whilst I understand that the Wikipedia manual may state this. The naming of the county is considered highly offensive by members of the Roman Catholic Community particularly in Northern Ireland. Thank you for your message and I read it with great appreciation. I will not attempt again to rename the county in light of this information until I have discussed it with those in authority. UserRGT (talk) 22:02, 18 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]
I understand where you come from however WP:Derry states Do not deviate from this merely because the subject relates to a particular side of the political divide which this comes under. C. 22468 Talk to me 00:52, 21 October 2024 (UTC)[reply]

Conflict of Interest

[edit]

I chanced upon your username and saw the above declaration of your work. I noticed your Wikipedia editing history concerns ecclesiastical topics.

Please be aware that Wikipedia has a conflict of interest policy which strongly discourages editors from making changes to articles which they are already, or can be, involved with. Please take time to familiarise yourself. There is also a declaration which can be made voluntarily.

Also, the majority of your changes have no edit summary - please consider adding a brief description of what you have done to aid the recent change patrollers. Thanks.-- 82.13.47.210 (talk) 03:31, 8 November 2024 (UTC)[reply]
