Sparkle (charity) - Undeletion Request
[edit]Hi, thanks for message.
- The article was a copyright violation. Copyrighted text is not allowed in Wikipedia, as outlined in this policy. That applies even to pages created by you or your organisation, unless they state clearly and explicitly that the text is public domain. In this case the copied page said © Sparkle 2014. Registered Charity 1134725. All rights reserved by the event organisers and Sparkle Charity. There are ways to donate copyrighted text to Wikipedia, as described here; please note that simply asserting on the talk page that you are the owner of the copyright, or you have permission to use the text, isn't sufficient. But in any case the copyrighted text is far too promotional to be useful for Wikipedia's purposes, so there would not be any point in your jumping through all the hoops that are required.
- I notice that you immediately removed the bot's tag of the obvious copyright violation without making any attempt to remedy the problem, which is not good practice and looks like an attempt to hide the violation. Note that for legal reasons we do not restore copyrighted text
- You did not provide adequate independent verifiable sources to enable us to verify the facts and show that it meets the notability guidelines. Sparkle's own website is not an independent source
- it was written in a promotional tone. Articles must be neutral and encyclopaedic.
I do not think I have made a mistake with regard to the copyright violation, and I don't intend to restore the article. There is nothing to stop you writing a new version in your own words with proper third-party references Jimfbleak - talk to me? 06:51, 4 December 2014 (UTC)
